"Most people don't know, but corn snakes need something to climb on as that is what the love to do. IF you have a corn, get them some drift wood or something to climb on. You'll have a healthier and happier snake."
depends on the corn snake.. i have 2 that dont climb at all so i have them in a shallow 8 foot viv (seprate vivs by the way, i have 2)
@looterwolf yes you can keep 2 babys in a 5 or ten gallon but when they get bigger youy gonna have to upgrade. i would say a 30 gallon long for one snake then add like 10 or 20 gallons so around 45-50 gallon tank. im sayin this much cause i no your probobly gonna go overbored with decoration like me and its gonna need some room for the both of them
hey i need some help i got a snow corn for christmas but she only stays in her hide all day and does not come out i baked some sticks then put em in there and im gettin some fake plants but still she stays in here hide can you tell me why she does not come out at any time?
What do you feed ghost? I'm considering a corn snake but am uneasy about getting one, as I've never had a snake as a pet before. Can you tell me the pros and cons of a corn snake as a pet please?
i got one over a week ago and to start with she kept striking at me and kept getting very restless when holding her but now i've been holding her every day for the past 5 days and shes really calm now, atm shes only in a small viv but i will be getting a much larger viv to go in. also u feed them new born mice "pinkies" there very cheap roughly 35p each and they are fed ever 1 week so is £1.40 for 1 month lol.
Doesn't really matter too much. I have a strict 'lights out' policy that when it hits 10pm local time, ghost is back in her cage and the lights are out (besides the very very dim 'moon' light, no activity in the room.
I have a question about corn snakes. for the last week my baby corn snake just hides under the water bowl and harldy come out ever will the corn grow out of it or will it hide 24/7
I think yours just likes to hide. It might grow out of it though. I'm not sure since mine is the complete opposite. He started to explore he's tank after about 5 minutes of being in there.
Ghost lives in a 20 Gallon-Long. She used to hide, like yours, all the time. I think it was the fact that she was tiny and it was perhaps a defense mechinism to avoid predators while she was small. Now she loves to hang out in the branches and is very inquisitive.
The tank is a 20 Gallon-Long, designed specifically for reptiles and snakes. I picked the tank up from Petco (they were having a sale on the tank and it was the same tank my local reptile dealer had on hand for $79 more).
cool, my striped amel corn snake, also know as Axel (from kingdom hearts 2, yeah im sad lol) loves to climb. i got him a fake cacktus and he loves it so much, but im going to have to get him a new one cause hes starting to get to big for it lol
it might be, i didnt get a good look, but albinos have red eyes. same with rabbits too. people tend to find that strange i guess, i never thought it was.
Nice snow I just got one yesterday and its still a baby. When did you get yours and hiw small was it. Your snake seems pretty big and I was just wondering how many pinikes you fed him when he was little? if you did.
I don't mean to tell you how to care for your snake, right now I have a corn snake that is 16 years old, so i know a good bit about them. From the video, it looks like you have your ghost under a light, you probably don't want to do that for the simple reason that ghost corns don't have pigment in their skin, and therefore will burn easily, even if it seeks shelter.
Petco stores sell them for 60usd you just have to wait till the get the color pattern in that you want. They go on sale for 40 a few times a year too. Make sure you research what to look out for when buying a snake before you do.
Or just save another 15$ and buy one from a good breeder, instead of buying them from a petstore, where their health and history really isn't guaranteed.
I believe it's a blizzard corn if i am not mistaken, as i have one myself about 3-4 months old, he is gorgeous mate, nice setup nd good luck, mine eats like there's no tomorrow, tries to constrict his fuzzies and everything, anyway good luck there beautiful snakes...
He's absolutely adorable. My boyfriend and I are going to get one. Now we have a Ball Python named Toby, a Garter Snake named Gracey, and an Albino Rosy Boa Constrictor named Sherbert. I love them all so much.
Its not a ghost corn -.-; Thats just its name and when you get a baby one keep it in a small one but he or she looks big enough for that vivarium because it has plenty to do xD and i also breed ghosts ;D
and to the guy who said large cages intimadate small snakes, thats only true if you dont have enough hides in the cage, they dont grow up in small cages in the wild.
"kaily" I would suggest buying a 20 gallon first put as long as you keep correct temperatur a 10 gallon is just fine.
Aha, creepy, looks like a glowworm << I want a corn snake, I'm investigating what I need for one, but I have to wonder...they say a 20 gallon is good for a corn snake, but what about a ten gallon while they're still a baby? We're possibly moving soon and I'd rather move a ten gallon than a 20 gallon, but if I absolutely need a 20 gallon, then...
if your having a smaller snake then a smaller tank would be best, they would be intimidated by a large tank and may not be able to find familiar ground
thats a nice snake and quite a nice tank as well, but i read some were that wood chips arnt a good idear because they can some times eat them while feading and they are also quite a good place for bactira to grow. if i hadnt of read that i would think that wood chips are good as well,, do they work ok for you? pm back please i would be very intrested to here your reply
