the real truth is that this project is well supported by the locals. mayo and other western counties have been decimated over the last fifty years by emmigration. the locals believe this is progress and a way for families to stay together and to live in the area they were born in. yes a pipeline will be a small blotch on the coastline but no more so than the thousands of esb poles across the county. those who support the project have been intimidated and terrified by eco warriors and cIRA thugs.

Well in fairness to the protesters, they are trying to protect the area and the government are not listening. I think everyone rejected the idea for planning permission but the government went ahead and just ignored the locals.

I had difficulty at the start with the way the locals were protesting, however, If my locality was threatened in such a manner, I believe that this form of last resort may be called for.

We already know that these protesters are far from peaceful. its not like it was the drivers fault, it must be hard enough managing this machine without some idiot standing in the water beside it. What does he expect, he put himself in the danger by standing there. instead of talking about the money that the state is losing out in, through this shell project, the protesters should consider the huge expense that the state has incurred because of their actions
