  • Superb video footage.

  • At 2:09 is that the electrics causing that?

  • Really great footage.

  • what were the sparks from?

  • Greez from The FDNY Ladder 4 Midtwon Manhatten to Los Angeles Breavest God bless these guys and their rigs on every run !

  • i cant wait to get in this dept

  • Thanks for the great video man! - PEACE from Norway <3

  • It makes me appreciate your job more .what kind of place was it? how did it happen

  • Gotta love the way LA City gets the job done

Enough people to do it right

And I work for a department who wears the "cool" old school black helmets ...... I'd pick those light weight LA City ones any day

  • Actually ISO still uses the rating system which is still how area insurance rates are determined. The lower the rating, the cheaper the insurance charged by the insurance company.

  • @YouCallMeSir ISO 1/9-3/9 are the same, 4/9-6/9 are the same, but 7/9, 8/9, 9/9 and 10/9 insurance rates are outrageous

  • Very cool... More raw footage please.

  • I've never understood, why is there class 1 written on the engine??

  • Class 1 is essentially an insurance rating. The ISO is the leading supplier of statistical, underwriting, and actuarial information to the casualty insurance industry. The LAFD was one of the first department's to be issued a Class 1 designation. Fewer than 60 agencies nationwide have earned that honor. If the Fire Department has a Class 1 rating, then insurance rates would benefit. Today, Class 1 is no longer officially in effect. But, the LAFD keeps the stickers on! It's great PR.

  • @LAFD027 Here's the deal with the Class 1 criticism. LAFD may not really be Class 1, that is the rumor, but some small departments are. How? If you can't put out your biggest fire with your our resources, then you don't deserve Class 1. What Class 1 department in California can put out a working high rise fire alone? Only one, LAFD. In reality, Class 1 is misleading and not based on reality. It was a grading system used from way back. Some depts. have 4 stations and are Class 1 ?

  • @pigjubby The LAFD is not Class 1. The ISO rating is related to the cost of insurance ratings, and the application to a fire agency is old fashioned and inaccurate. Your statements regarding firefighting ability have nothing to do with ISO and Class 1. It is a fire prevention and cost issue. The LAFD is considered to be one of the top five firefighting agencies for a city over one million in population.

  • that USAR rig is friggin kick ass

  • i cant fucking wait till i am one .... i pray to God that i can be apart of such service to the community.

    keep it safe lads

  • great job not a fan of the helmets i prefer leather

  • Leather looks cool, but is better suited to cold climates. The plastic helmets used weigh much less, are just as strong, if not stronger (opinion), and are better suited for wildfire and TA assignments.

  • @dmta Good comment - but leather is too heavy when fighting fire and wildfire in the heat of the west coast.

  • @LAFD027 if they have a wildland, just do what we do here in mass. take off our leathers, and put on a wildland helmet

  • Also that US&R truck 88 SWEEEET

  • i saw that same truck on the freeway a few days ago and she's such a beauty. =]

this and part one are such great insights to firefighting, i love it all.

  • Thay have some SWEEET ASS trucks

  • lafd rules!!

  • great video. i heard about the documentary a couple months ago and im totally stoked on it.

  • Due most Engine guys wear axes on your job?

  • this is north hollywood, dude. we wear machettis.
