no offense but its not that big a deal, he wasnt playing it even close to full speed and I'm 14 and I can play it faster and just as well, the improvising was really great though, that was impressive
did you write out your own solo????!?!?!? looked like you were reading?? why write out your own when you can improvise, just defeats the purpose of soloing...
@redwingshockey44 ever heard of a thing called repetitive chords and changes, the whole thing is pretty close to A except for the bridge, that is if you have ever played the song before or looked at the part....
that is a cannonball. I have one too If only I had a Mark VI. My friend whose a sophmore in college just like me has a mark VI original laquor. Lucky son of a gunn......... Horray to Us music majors. This could be a jazz major probably not at cal state northrigde but elsewhere!
It looks like he's playing on a Yamaha Alto. I have had bad experiences with yamaha's but I guess everyones different. And for anyone who's interested, it looks like he's playing on either a meyer or a vandoren mouthpiece with a rovner ligature, I would seriously think about a different mouthpiece, the one you're playing on makes you sound out of tune, I mean thats my opinion but a really good performance nonetheless
try not writing them, but improvise... what's the point with a written improvisation... anyway nice sound and articulation... though I would change the saxophone.
I agree with everyone here. You have one hell of a sound! It sounds excellent. Probably the best I've heard yet. Just don't scoop every note! It starts to sound not bad but certainly not good. Other than that. I'm very impressed.
Very confident sound. Your horn sings when you play this. Watch the evenness on your eighths. One wrong note in the transcription part (bar 33 into 34) should be a concert G to C not an A. Other than that sounds good! Now, go throw it into some different keys! :)
Well gee thanks! lol. Well, It should take you about, depending on how well you practice or pick up on it. But to play something simple like mary had a little lamb or something lke that, should take about a day after learning all the notes. And I've been playing since 6th grade , so for about 4 years.
How long have you been playing? You are GREAT!! I am a school principal and my students challenged me to join beginning band and learn the sax. How long till I should be able to play something really simple?
Every morning in school my jazz band teacher bends me over and paddles me because i can't play 0:49 to1:31.

First though, you have to learn to make a sound. That's the hardest part!
Barisaxlover 2 years ago
Yeah I know, My sound could have been better. I bought a new mouthpiece recently though, and I sound a TON better =D
I made first chair all county jazz band, and I'm hopefully going to post the songs we played. =)
