yeah, the windows firewall has allways been a problem, and it seems that with windows vista the problem got bigger, i hope this problem will be solved with the sp1.
Actually the only thing that the uac does is to ask you before you are gonna make a significant change in your pc, it just asks you, you can have an antivirus and/or an antispyware to protect your pc and it will be as fast as when it had the uac, or even faster.
But the thing I don't understand with UAC when I got it was... Why do you need to confirm if I clicked control panel.. If I have been clicking on things why do you need to confirm.
It's much better without UAC!
Microsoft are turning it off by default with an explanation of what it does in service pack 1.
UAC may be annoying but its there for a reason. UAC ask you about any download, install or any changes to make sure its not malware hoping to damage your PC. If a website, video or anyone ask or tells you to turn off UAC--don't fall for it

or u could just go to start search "msconfig "hit ENTER" then go to tools and then click on
"Disable UAC"........done!

the thing is when you disable it you are not able to use hp total care advisor and it davises you to turn it on which get annoying
