True, it shows you don't respect the other person's opinion, which is a very bad characteristic to show.

You can even turn an argument into something positive (before it gets out of hand) by saying something like: "Alright stop! we could argue for 2 weeks and still don't come to an agreement. But you know what... I like that. Most people just take over other people's opinions without thinking, but you... you're like me. You're fiery, and you stick to what you believe in, and I like that."

Technically everything is opinion... and people should be able to defend their opinion. Somehow they got that opinion in first place after all. Matter of taste however is something that can't be debated, because it's prety much about it what feels good to you (biological and psychological reasons).

@popomczowzow IMO, agreeing to disagree is genuinely trying to see each other's point of view and accepting different ways of thinking. it's not just about making peace but actually understanding where the other person is standing. an example would be: "I see your point. .....(say something that you liked about their argument)..... However I do think that.....(your opinion)..... It's okay if you disagree with that. I understand that we all have different opinions." hope this helped somewhat :)
