  • Love marcus dupree truelyy the best

  • how tall was he

  • @jhoney6754 6'2

  • It's a crying shame what happened to Dupree and Bo Jackson

  • People when Barry Switzer says Dupree was the greatest player he ever recruited and Espn still mentions him in top all time college running backs even after he quit on the spot like a chump that means he is one of the greatest and would have been the greyest if he wouldn't have been a quitter

  • 9.59 hundred would have been a world record at that time.

  • None of you guys are real CFB fans or you guys wouldnt be forgeting to mention Herschel Walker

  • He was exactly like Earl Campbell. Maybe even better?!?

  • seems like everyone forgot who Bo Jackson was...

  • Can't help but noticing how good his blocking was. Guys totally selling out to get their RB to the EZ. Don't see that much these days.

Watching this makes me wonder why Vernon Davis isn't a RB... ;)

  • Greatest Athlete of all time. He's adrian peterson of adrian Peterson was taller, faster, and stronger

  • He worked with my dad at RSC. They are pretty good friends.

  • @shiner811 you know what the fucks up man. Bo Jackson is one of the finest, most excellent athlete of all time. right next to Barry sanders and Marcus Dupree. top three.

  • He ran the hundred yard dash in like ten seconds or so the documentary says. That was Olympic record speed at the time.

  • Imagine if he woulda stayed 4 years at OU.

  • He probably could have been the next Jim Brown, his size with his speed was incredible, too bad he had the wrong people in his corner.

  • I felt that when he realized that his family betrayed him, he quit. Barry liked underdogs not top-dog talent. Fred Akers was a great man but Marcus was crippled by a lack of father figure was dependent on his family when it came to business and college football is business. He probably should have gone to Grambling where Eddie Robinson was the coach and a father figure. But his family was poor and they were using him as an out.

  • Dupree ran a 4.34

  • He was 6'4 and benched 400lbs god knows how much he squatted in every since of the word an athletic freak of nature.only person even close in just sheer athletic talent was Bo Jackson. So don't compare anyone in modern football to him. When chris Johnson can run a 4'3 4'4 40 yard dash with a 6'4 frame and 250lbs.... Call me

  • @shiner811 brandon jacobs runs a high 4.4 and hes 64 270

  • @wasup2211998 Brandon Jacobs might be as big as Dupree but there is not a chance in hell that Jacobs runs a 4.4!!! U are an idiot.

  • @JeffPippen93 first of all brandon jacobs is much bigger than dupree by like 40 pounds and he does at the nfl combine he ran 4.56 judging by that he most likely got faster.Marcus dupree is a great back but he could only run he couldnt catch the ball. thats why he was cut by the rams

  • how i in up this gayshit fuck american!!!

  • OU isn't as crooked as the old dirty ass SWC, but close. Texas was paying players left and right, and they still couldn't win over 5 games a season, at least SMU paid and got results. Thank God, Nebraska and the Big 8 agreed to allow these programs on probation into the conference.

  • @1Rising Barry Switzer was like Al Davis..He didn't CARE what kind of issue a player had..Drugs, Attitude, violence towards women..He RECRUITED THEM..."JUST WIN BABY"..

  • Incredible athlete. Speed and power. I remember seeing him play when I was young. It was amazing. When I saw AD (Adrian Peterson) play, it reminded me of

    Dupree.

  • I just saw the 30/30 documentary about him too and i gotta admit, i wept for him inside......I see the Adrian Peterson, MJD and Chris Johnson of this world and they would probably make zillions amount of dollars but they're not good enough to tie this dude's laces......Such a very very sad story. but like YGTSTV said, it was all down to not having a male figurehead to show him the right path......

  • Saw the Marcus Dupree 30/30 documentary last night for the first time On Australian cable TV - Foxtel. Incredible to watch that black&white footage of Dupree at Philadelphia HS. Super athlete. Incredibly sad that he did not have a decent male figurehead in his life who could have guided him the right way. He never should have left OU and coach Switzer and his staff should have done more to persuade him to return. You just don't let a kid of that talent walk away without a fight.

  • @YGTSTV That's awesome that they are showing American football stuff in Oz. Good to hear.

  • @Liface

We get a lot of NFL on Aussie cable TV. I'm a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and really enjoyed watching the Super Bowl live. I've read a fantastic biography of Vince Lombardi, ("When Pride Still Mattered") hence my interest in the Packers. My daughter follows the New York Jets.

  • he was an NFL player in high scool.

  • the GREATEST that never was.

  • He was an NFL player coming out of HS. That's how good he was.

  • anyone else remember maurice claret?? dupree was better and definitely classier, but they are very similar

  • @RammaJamma22A Yes, we remember Maurice Claret and no, they are not similar. Clarett is 5'10 215 and runs a 4.7 40. He is slow and unathletic. This man, Dupree, was the single most spectacular athlete anyone has witnessed at the RB position. He was 6'2 220 and ran a 4.3 (probably 10 flat 100meter). Claret was a diva bitch with a large ego; Dupree was a simple country kid who honestly had no idea that everyone cared so much about football....a game.

  • Greatest High School player of all time!

  • Greatest High School player for sure! I believe could hv been better then Bo, Barry, Dorsett, and Walker!

  • Hey, I see a comment above that makes me think because unfortunately after seeing 30/30 I have to concur. I want to know why Barry went to the trouble of getting him and then treated him so poorly. I could tell by the interviews that Barry didn't like him. I feel he should have gone to Texas and the only reason Barry aquired him was so that he wouldn't. I feel Barry didn't want the guy but he didn't want the guy to play for anyone else either.

  • What have been the best running back ever no doubt ,if it wasn't for his leg

  • marcus dupree's speed reminds me of chris johnson how they get in the open field and nobody is guna catch them, they outrun angles

  • By FAR the best Frosh RB in college football history. Could've been the best ever.

  • This man was a pure running back. He would run you over or run past you. Anyone that loves football should love these highlights.

  • He really was magic.... The best Player that never really made it.. More people love you than you probably know Marcus!!!

  • It is a damn shame we couldn't see more!!! You the man Marcus!!!!

  • he reminds me of bettis off of the steelers.

  • Check out youtube/#3 Dayvion Bailey he is the best 7yr old Runningback/QB ever!!! A MUST SEE!!!

  • What a waste of so much talent. The commentators were so boring too.lol

  • Being tall such as 6ft or over is an advantage in football?

  • Tank

  • hmmmm Taylor Martinez should become friends with him....

  • he couldve broke records he could of been a legend maby better than barry sanders but barry had a bad team

  • watched 30 for 30 today and it was great. MARCUS DUPREE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • just watched 30-30 dude was sumn serious never herd of him until 30 30 hell i was born in 83 lol he accomplished alot especially coming bck after 5 yrs so 2 the haters accomplish something

  • he could bench 400 pounds 10 times in highschool. no joke

  • should of gone to Texas , would have been treated right and won heisman! His mom sold him to the highest bidder ,Oklahoma for a double wide and some cash!Could have been as good as Earl Campbell.Ou was very corrupt! In 83 Texas put him out of the game and he never played college ball again.

  • dam the best that never was

  • really wished he never hurt his knee. he couldve been a real amazing fuckin nfl player. he is still one of my favorites for the come back he made to play for the l.a rams, to bad they didnt keep him

  • so this is where Adrian Peterson learned how to play running back huh? Dupree is a BEAST nuff said

  • never heard of him until i saw 30 for 30. reminds me of darren mcfadden

  • @coolmusicforyou1 he is nuthin like darren mcfadden

  • Marcus Dupree played varsity football for his highschool since he was in 8th grade. Most people dont play varsity football till they are a junior or senior. He also entered the NFL 3 years early

  • Marcus Dupree makes Demarco Murray look like Whoopi Goldberg.

  • get away from me booay!

  • the 30 for 30 is a must see on marcus dupree

  • damn marcus dupree really had a talent for really knowing how to hit the tiny gaps really good. He must of had some really good calves, you can totally tell that he find his way very easily.

  • If he chose OU because of the money, who did they give the money to? In the 30 for 30 he said that he wasn't being taken cared of financially while at OU.

  • even tho ou screwed him over this guys my role model

  • The coach did not know how to work with this guy.Was not smart enough to see how this kids mind worked and what motivated him. Just used the same old dumbass coach mind games on a kid who would never respond to that.

  • What a sad story. Just goes ro show you how crooked college football was back then

  • hes a good person in person

  • He left bcuz of Barry Switzer. he was just to tough on Dupree. I mean the boy was a star player. he could do anything on the field. Bhut as a coach he didnt want to be played as showing favoritism. And dupree was not cared for bcuz he had no figure head. if he cldnt play football wat could he do. no1 in his whole autobiography on the "Best That Never Was" asked hym wat he was doing for SCHOOL THE MOST IMPORTANT THING AS A BLACK MALE!! they only cared for HIS FOOTBALL TALENT.NOTFOR HIS EDUCATION

  • I would have loved to go watch marcus dupree play he is the greatest running I have ever seen

  • W*O*W

  • he woulda been the greatest to probably ever play the game a shame what happened anyone that wants to know everything watch 30 for 30 is was amazing best show ive seen so far

  • really sad how injuries can derail a player's career. could've the best college runner ever if healthy and had he stayed at OU for 4 yrs. i remembered watching him played on tv at age 8. still the best ever for only 14 or 15 games ever. a legend that won't be forgotten.

  • he wouldve gone down as the best playe ever. probably even ove jim brown. but he shouldve stuck it out at OU. thumbs up?

  • he blew his knee out and now he is a truck driver

  • was and is the best player that will ever come out of high school. ever

  • @g2gpottey He was outrunning people in the bowl game he played, when he was 10 lbs over weight! lol

He is what you get when you combine a jet and a tank.

  • @ccdanby hell yeah i saw that shit. amamzing

  • i would have liked to see that guy if he would of played in the nfl and his senior year

  • this guy was designed on ea ncaa football with all 99 attributes

  • the first generation of AD.

  • this guy was unreal...watched the 30 for 30 on him, his combination of size, speed and strength is something that is rarely, rarely seen

  • ID ROCK HIS JERSEY !

  • God bless him, hate to see sad cases like this

  • Marcus Dupree was the best in my mind, and a great guy I wish I could me him.

  • why didnt he just get surgery in the off-season and not wait 5 years?

  • Marcus Dupree was a classic case of a huge talent thrown in too early for his own good. Amazing talent, had he better people around him, COULD have been an all time great. That's football could have....Should have.....Damn.....At least he showed some heart and came back to the NFL. God bless.

  • everyone is proud of him...even himself why? because he made it.....he made it to the nfl (: good job Marcus

  • lol at 2:18 dude was running too hard and hit da grass

  • OU was full of cheats and that is why Switzer was fired. As far as MD, he was a crook and OU paid for his services. Karma is a beotch.

  • all i gotta say is bo jackson

  • @Lamborghini274: Dude...I love Bo Jackson, I pattern my game after him, also being a Sprinter / TB....And Let me tell you, had Marcus stayed in school that Heisman trophy had his name on it! Also, the man left football got his weight up to 300+ lbs then decides he's making a comeback five years removed and did it and made all pro guys look stupid! Fella, I know it's hard for you to be an athlete but, take my advice and stfu!

  • @Pamoroom son, i would scrape you in football

  • @Lamborghini274: Man....you have no idea sir, I'm currently a beast on the gridiron, and all you could do is take care of my after game use jock strap! Nice try though!

  • @Lamborghini274 i would rock your ass so hard if my team played your team

  • If you are born with a tremendous talent, are you obligated to utilize that talent to the fullest? Many people who wish they had a talent, can't understand how people with that talent can squander it away. So many ways to look at this story, probably what makes it so fascinating. All I know is that when I watch the Dupree highlights it's like nothing I've ever seen!

  • he was 6"5", show me a running back today who is that size like that can run like that. A 4.5 40, thats insane.....two or three strides for every ten yards, it's no wonder it doesn't look like he's running hard..The guy was unbelievable.

  • @nick22007 he wasnt 6ft 5in he was about the same size as adrian peterson....many backs were big and tall and could run...jim brown, eric dickerson, bo jackson, eddie george, adrian peterson just to name a few.

  • He left because Barry Switzer was a jerk to him. He didnt leave because he lost the heisman. He could have gone back and won it his Junior or Senior year. It was also amazing that he never took money while playing college football. He came from Philadelphia MS. Not the richest place in the world, and his family wasn't wealthy. I was truly amazed at some things that Marcus Dupree did, on and off the field. And I feel sooo bad for the guy, what a great story. Oh, and that 30 for 30 show was GREAT.

  • @sportsal11 it was really good. i remember faintly hearing about him as a kid but i didnt know untill that 30 for 30 how amazing he was, i felt bad for him too

  • @sportsal11 But at least he went back and finished up what he wanted to do in the NFL

  • @sportsal11 Barry Switzer may have been a jerk, but as a division I college athlete you must have the mental toughness to take it. What the 30 for 30 show really showed me was how much mental toughness he lacked. Switzer was trying to challenge him and make him better. Dupree could have ended up as one of the greats in the NFL if he had the mental toughness to go achieve greatness in spite of the criticism he took from his coach and instead of quitting when the going got tough.

  • @thedon123321

its nothing to do with mental toughness, its knowing how to man manage each individual, some need to be challenged and some need to be nurtured and dupree was obviously the latter.

  • @thedon123321 what else do you want from the kid? he just flat rushed for 250+ yards when not 100 percent and you still humiliate him like that. I mean come on, lets say it the way it is.......if that was sooo easy, it wont still be a record till date.

  • @sportsal11 Nah he left because Ken Failery his blood scuking piece of shit phony friend wante dhim to go pro and be his agent so he could welch off him. Proven fact he stole from him and Marcus blind and dumb and trusted him Barry didn't baby him mthats marcus left Barry made some truthfull comments and despite being a douche cheater held him to a high standard physically

  • @sportsal11 Yeah i just watched that like 3 hours ago now he's a truck driver

  • @sportsal11 didnt he also have a lot of hamstring area problems?

  • @sportsal11

You say that he never took money. But after his freshman year, after threatening not to come back to Oklahoma. Someone bought his mom a doublewide trailer.

  • @sportsal11 He didn't work hard, that is why he never became anything substantial.

  • he was a great player played on two diffrent nfl teams was one of the greatest players he went to college and he went to the usfl(united states football leauge) when he was only 19 if thats not sucessful then what is?

  • @NEPatriots128154 didn't work hard?

have you watched the 30 for 30 and seen what he did to get back in shape after he blew out his knee five years later to make it in the nfl?

  • @glwakeboardking That was after he kinda slogged through Oklahoma. He worked his ass off to get back into football shape, but he did keep going to Oklahoma overweight. Barry Switzer was an awful coach though and did a poor job of helping Dupree.

  • @sportsal11 Watching the 30 for 30, DuPree blames alot of what happened on the fact that he was a little immature, surronded himself w/ the wrong people, etc. I think the 30 for 30 about him should be shown to all high school football players.

  • @sportsal11

how do you knwo Switzer was a jerk to Dupree? I watched the 30 for 30 documentry on Dupree, and felf very sympathetic for Dupree. He was ruined by all those around him, with the exception of his beloved family.

  • @sportsal11 He did take money in college thats all it was about back then they even bought his mother a double wide trailer

  • @sportsal11

He took a double wide trailer for playing footsballl

  • @bmfboshooter His mom asked for it.

  • @bmfboshooter your an asshole

  • the best player that never was...

  • @NCXify

I just saw the 30 for 30 on him. I knew about Bo, and Herschel. I completely forgot about this guy, I vaguely remember hearing his name. But up until now I thought Bo Jax was the best pure running back I had ever seen.....but Dupree's highlights are absolutely amazing

  • @cmatrix11 yeai saw the espn 30 for 30 and it blew my mind. i couldnt believe i've never heard of this man

  • Marcus was great and yes Switzer was a jerk but Marcus started believing his hype too much..Did you notice when he left that he said that they lost the game to Texas and he couldnt win the Heisman so he just quit. That is letting your teammates down big time just because of a stupid award. But he could have been awesome in the NFL, we will never know.

  • @LostBoyyy switzer was blaming losses on him individually so why wouldnt he think like that?

  • unreal football player who could have done so much, but terrible attitude. it's a shame

  • @thewhitewhale11 : fu.....bARRY sWITZER WAS A JERK....AT LEAST HE ADMITTED SUCH ON THE 30 FOR 30 SPECIAL. THE FUCKING COACHES WERE JEALOUS OF HIM. THEY WANTED HIM TO PLAY TE...THAT'S LIKE YOU FUCKING MEN ALL OF YOUR LIFE, AND THEN YOU FATHER WANTS TO START SLEEPING WITH GIRLS...IT WOULD FUCK YOUR HEAD UP!

  • @Pamoroom its nothing new...marshall faulk (from new orleans) was going to go to LSU and they wanted him to play CB....how did that turn out? florida wanted clinton portis (from gainesville) to play corner or safety because they were set at running back LOL!! and LSU wanted ed reed and warrick dunn (both from louisiana) to play corner....in other words LSU is retarded and so are coaches...

  • @CrazyHorseRunningBat he sucked? did you watch the highlights? do you not see him running guys over? no effort and he breaks 60+ yard rushes a game? sit back and actually watch the video, unless you post a video of you shredding defenses like he was as a 18/19 year old freshman in major college football with grade A competition, Shut the Fuck up

  • This guy sucked. Was not durable, no effort, was not coachable and far too dumb.

  • Bo Jackson before the actual Bo Jackson. Dude had great speed, size(even tho a lil out of shape), and cut speed....Just like Adrian Peterson lol but I don't think Peterson was as fast as this dude, he had a SERIOUS, FLUID stride. I think his highlights were amazing I wish he would've took football/school serious and kept playing. Well, looks like Barry is still the undisputed #1 college RB in NCAA history.

  • Like most I watched 30 for 30 and this guy was amazing, had it not been for the Rev. this young man could have done so much more, but @ least he never gave up!!!!

  • Like everyone else watched 30 for 30 with my dad never heard of him before that just like number 34

  • Never even heard of this guy before the 30 / 30 show about him. Awesome athlete, reminds me bo jackson, big time.

  • I played with marcus back in philly. man we we're like brothers. When things got shitty fo him, they just got worse. Now I'm working at Kenny shoes and doing really good, but I always knew one day I would be better than him. Thanks 30 for 30

  • @AaronB1322 liar.

  • @AaronB1322 Smo.

  • goood blokin

  • That stupid reverend guy who was his advisor should burn in hell. He was the one who ruined his career. Let's all pray for him to go straight to fucking hell!!!!!!!!

  • @wildside227 im wit that

  • Great movie, very sad story. Shame it didn't all work out

  • yeah, just got through watching 30/30. real sentimental guy, good story.

  • Most touching 30 for 30 that I've seen hands down! This kid was a man amongst Boys & had he stayed at OU his career would have been through the Roof!!!

  • I know I'm from Chicago but when he bounced off people he looked like Walter Payton. It's sad what he went troght to just make the pro's. He got scammed, he had injuries, but he still gave an effort during the games. I just watch 30 for 30 on ESPN and the documentary was called "The Best There Never Was". I was touched when I watched it, I've never seen or heard a story like his. I wished he could of had his own dicsions and opinions but he wasn't able to because of all the media around him. M.D

  • ran a 4.4 freshman year in high school...just a natural.

  • This guy was amazing if he made it he would be an all time great

  • he reminds me off a len bias of football ..

  • there's no way in hell this kid ran a 9.5 100 in high school. switzer is full of shit

  • @SchackDaddy2010 actually it is very possible because back then it was the 100yd dash instead of the 100m dash so he had less ground to cover

  • @SchackDaddy2010

yards not meters, 100m is more like 110yards

  • @SchackDaddy2010 looking a his film, a "coaching eye" can tell he had whats call track speed. he could have ran it

  • @SchackDaddy2010 he did

  • @SchackDaddy2010: 9.5 in the 100 yard dash...that is converted into like a 10.2 100 meters electronically. So he was not talking shit, you are just stupid. Back in 1982 they ran in yards. This dude was running a 10.2 sec 100 in HS in 1982. Last I checked 10.2 is still a final time in the 100 meter dash! Switzer is a Jerk, but he was clock at 9.5 in the 100 yard dash, when the record was maybe 9.2 or 9.3. Also at 230 pounds and a 10 inch dick....this guy is special!

  • shoukd of never went to oklahome. if he would of gone to a school that fitted him n his personality i believe things would of been different. ou road him way to hard especially with a big body like that

  • @chrisfraire21 there is a reason why no one likes switzer there is a reason why troy aikman left OU.

  • Watching the 30 for 30 on espn now.thought I would catch some extra footage.good post

  • @FetketBC same

  • The Reggie Bush of his era. Very similiar running style.

  • @TyLeRrOsE09 reggie bush? what the hell are you talking about he runs over people, cuts back. does it all. More like Jim Brown

  • @Knillawafer37 Yea he runs like Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson. And Jim Brown was hardly a "do it all" back. If you want to go that route, then you're thinking more along the lines of Walter Payton.

And I say Reggie Bush because Dupree made cuts like no one had ever seen before. Just like Reggie during his college and high school days. The difference between him and Reggie is that Dupree had the ability to run through guys. But both made their living with being able to make cuts on a dime

  • @TyLeRrOsE09 I was thinking Jim Brown too. Could run over, around or past you.

  • @Knillawafer37 he runs just like marcus ALLEN not jim brown or anyone else....he runs gracefully he doesnt cut on a dime like reggie bush.

  • @getyoasshome that's a comparison, he has marcus' running style

  • espn 30 for 30 film tonight

  • ...greatest running back to ever come out of Oklahoma, BARRY SANDERS (OSU)

  • FUCK him!!! GO ADRIAN PETERSON p

    AP WOOT!!!

  • THE BEST THAT NEVER WAS

  • @graves22791 He had a massive running stride. His knees just broke down on him.

Unfortunately he's another example of why you need to get paid if you play college ball.

  • he did play in the nfl, the only reason he never did anything is because he screwed up his knees in a time when surgery wasn't as helpful as it is now. 20 years ago when a player tore his acl he was done forever. Nowadays a guy can tear is acl and mcl and play 9 months later, Wes Welker. He ran a 4.4 40 as a freshman in high school. Ki-Jana Carter could have been a good one too.

  • Sadly , he was a harbinger of what most 'modern' athletes have become in the last 5 years.

  • He fucking sucked in the NFL. And was always injured. How was he "the best that never was." Get lost you fucking rednecks.

  • Comment removed

  • @val310 Yes he did, retard. A simple Google search and you would have seen that he briefly played for the Rams.
