  • Stunningly, heartbreakingly, beautiful. Every word, every note, .. Perfect. Yes, she is peerless!

  • The lady has no peer.....

  • I saw her last night in Sondheim on Sondheim. When she came out the audience wouldn't stop applauding. She sang Send in the Clowns.

  • @adelgado75 You're one lucky soul! I haven't seen her live in more than 20 years. Thank you so much for your message. Wish I'd been there!!

  • Having seen her in Music Man in 1957 it is difficult to believe that she still has the range at 80 plus. I love listening to her. Bravo to us 80 year olds..........

  • Bravo to you! I've only seen her in the late 80s in a small club in San Francisco; she was amazing! My best friend was a "gypsy" in the original NY show of "She Loves Me!" She was crazy about Ms. Cook!

  • She is quite extraordinary. I was to join her at a charity dinner last monday evening but wasn't feeling well so I had to bow out. As an ex-singer myself I can tell you what her vocal cords produce at her age is indeed rare.

  • A fabulous voice performing one of the best torch songs ever written! Thanks for posting.

  • You're welcome! Hearing Ms. "C" at any stage of her career still gives me chills; she's amazing!

  • My wife and I heard Barbara and Wally Harper in NYC at the Carlyle Hotel dozens of times. She was great in the small room with about 60 people, just as she has been recently in NY singing solo with the Metropolitan Opera and with the NY Philharmonic orchestra, and now in her 80's, with a voice that only miraculously gets better and better!

  • She's one of my favorite singers of all time.

  • When was this recorded?

It's hard to tell seeing how her voice has hardly changed in 50 years!

  • You're right. Given her voice, it could have been last Thursday! I really don't know the recording date. Will work on it. Thank you for your comment!

  • There is no better singer living or dead than Barbara Cook. And this shows what she does best. thank you. Her long time, but recently parted, musical arranger Wally Harper is accompanying her on the piano. There's was a legendary collaboration. Truly beautiful music.

  • I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Harper. I didn't know of his passing. Ms. Cook must be bereft! From what I've read, they were very close. Hearing him accompanying her on this piece will always be a treasure. I saw them together in a very intimate club in San Francisco. They were delightful. Thanks for your comment.

  • Thank you, to whoever did this wonderful clip! Hopefully, this will help to show the world that Barbara Cook is THE singer. After having seen her approximately 37 times live, I have witnessed her incredible artistry. What a wonderful way to spend Valentine's Day.
