  • whats that thing with their feet called? the thing at 0:09 ??

  • HAAAAY OOOOOO YEAAAAHH WOOOOO OWUUUUU WOA WOA WOA WOA She was the neww girl in, TOWWWWWWWWWWN.

  • I like the black version better...WAY BETTER!

  • @merlan114 RIGHT

  • It's showing the differences between the two cultures. One's not suppose to be better than the other. I like the white girls better because they're cuter, but the black girls definitely have talent.

  • I love Amber's dress

  • who said white pepole are better than black pepole there equal who ever said white pepole dont deserve to live thats racist

  • Dat Mashed Potato.

  • <3 I love Tracy! :ooo

  • Hey look out fot that moving van.... LOOK OUT! LOOK OUT! LOOK OUT! LOOK OUTT!!!!! She was the new girl in townnnn.......:)

  • The song is about accidentally running over the new pretty girl with a van.

  • @MilesPreclaro haha :D

  • stop saying black people they are african american its offensive

  • @MyGubbie especially since they're usually a shade of brown... umber in paintings usually. So it's inaccurate and racist.

  • honestly they r both good in their own ways!!!!

  • Obviously the African American girl's are going to be better. If they weren't, it would be kind of go against the whole theme of the movie which is that talent should matter more then appearance.

  • Black girls Wayyy betta

  • how did those white girls do that little dance thingy with their feet in the beginning??

  • @mindlessbelieber143 i think its called the mashed potato.. lol. You probably could look it up

  • @inspiredear dude its just a song in a movie

  • the black girls js killed it, i love the soul !

  • I think everyone should stop comparing the girls to each other.

They are both wonderful and you should listen to the music. Not compare. They are both very good.

  • i love this song and the african american women ut a whole lot of more energy in it and it was much more beter. they also had additude wich was awesome!! love it!!

  • @actress101246 that was the point of the movie - talent should matter not race.

  • Sure, but they're not doing a 'special' effort to do it, it simply, naturally, is better because the black ladies give it an extraordinary soul that white ones don't.

  • I love this song and Hairspray is my favorite movie!!!!!

  • I love that attitude/neck thing, I can never do it with a straight face

  • I like the second part soooo much better! The first part isn't bad, but it's too sizzy, bit like Britney Spears at her first album.

  • I really do love then black version, but i think the white girls dance at the beginning is just so darn cute! The dancing they do when they sing 'the new girl in town...' haha

  • Oh, I love the voice of the black womans <3

  • black ladies: 99%

    white ladies: 3%

  • Who owns the moving service?!

  • video crack 246 your a rasist

  • 1:01

  • 0:56

  • i loved brittany snow in the pink dress

  • you have to be crazy to like the white girls doing this song... African American girls put more soul into it

  • Damn, them African American girls danced better and put more energy into their dancing and singing. White might be sweet, but the darker the berry, the sweeter the fruit.

  • i love this movie lolz !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I fuckin LOVE HAIRSPRAY!!!!!

  • Penny this is Seaweed, Seaweed this is Penny

  • >dat mashed potato in the a-lines right at the start

  • Of course there are not separate versions with the two races, this song is to show the segregation and although the white may think they are superior they may not be in this case as the black girls outshine them.

  • I wish there was a full version of the black women...SO GOOD! I just keep starting the video again at 1:16

  • 2:02 so cuuuuuuuuuuuute ^^

  • love it love it love it

  • I liked the white version better but still liked the black version

  • the three African American girls sound exactly like these ladies from LIttle Shop of Horror. Anyone confirm?

  • @TheBillieJean1234 i was thinking that as well! :)

  • but the orange dresses are ADORABLE

  • i am such an amber fan

  • the black girls have way more energetic and have better coriography

  • Goddammit, they sing so well, and I want their legs in those gorgeous orange dresses . . .

  • The guy who plays the dad in this movie lives like a mile away from my house!

  • African American women are my favorite singers from that era. They just were so energetic and had such great voices and spunk!

  • @TheKinckKnack12345678 yea she did

  • the african are way better

  • Hw the hel they do that step :| ? 0:07

  • i love that head bobbing part at 1:39

  • Comment removed

  • so catchy!

  • Sry, I meant I -3 as is love

  • I doing a trio in dance to this song and I -3 it!

  • Those black ladies are soo much better than the whitey ones.....and Michelle Pfeiffer is a Goddess.

  • @videocrack246

I think it's mainly because we are a more modern day audience, and music in American greatly changed due to African Americans, so you know.

  • @videocrack246 'whitey' is racist. 'Black' is in some cases as well.

  • @BrunhildaSwecker whitey is extremely racist and offensive, they shouldve chosen a better word.

  • The African American girls put more energy into it :)

  • @BeatlesRockRock I LOVE THEM THEY ARE DA BOMB!!!

  • @BeatlesRockRock

I think that's the point. The writers wanted to make sure that the ausience knew that black is just as good, and can be better, than white, just as often as the other way around.

  • @megadork456 Very true, I've watched the newest movie about 100 times, and them singing this has always been my favorite part :) i also like when they sing a few parts in the song "welcome to the 60's" and that kids, is why you don't discriminate!

  • @BeatlesRockRock

Nah baby, they put more SOUL into it! lol

  • @BeatlesRockRock so true

  • Oh snap the new girl in town became the new dead girl in town. R.I.P. to the new girl in....TOWN!

  • Comment removed

  • I love the african american version better

  • i love the movie hairspray esspecially this song !!! ;L

  • im trying out for amber for a play!

  • I don't get the end "she WAS the new girl in town."

Did she get run over or something?

  • @TheKnickKnack123456 Yes because in the end the sang "Hey look out for that moving van look out! look out! look out! She WAS the new girl in town....

  • @TheKnickKnack123456 I think it's more of now she lives here now... she's not new anymore. She's a resident. But @Derek12141981 also has a good point

  • The black version girls are better, and I want their dresses!

  • shes got the coolest hair

  • hey look out for that movin van look out look out look out look out..........she was the new girl in........towwwnnnn

  • I believe the idea was for the audience to like the black girls version better, we're not supposed to like Amber or her mum and what they stand for, and the film is all about equality. I don't think it was ever made to make you pick between them when clearly the black girls version is so much better. :)

  • @MissEmziWemzie

It's more about the different styles of singing. Amber's mom wanted it to stay the way it was, when people were moving towards R&B.....so they did the song in their own style. The point is Mrs. Van Tussel didn't want the Blacks influencing the whites......so you can like both, it depends on your taste of which you think is better.

  • The blonde version is cute and fun but the ladies in the ornage dresses are more soulful and powerful and better dancing.. LUV BOTH THOUGH ,DOESNT MATTER!!

  • I think the black girls were wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better!!! The blonde chicks were cute but the black girls sung wayyyyyy better and killed it!(in a good way)

  • i like the blonde chicks better

  • I like the white girls version better, irs cuter, and sweeter.....more like the concept of the movie

  • the girls in the orange dress were the best <3 <3 <3 !!!! :)

  • When I wanted my little brother to watch this with me I simply said: "Look, that's Catwoman!"

And now he likes this movie ^^

  • love the movie

  • BLACK GIRLS MADE IT SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTERRRRRRRR LOLLL white gurls were cute tho..

  • Blar!

  • 2:00-2:10 lol

  • im not racest or anything but the black people killed it

  • white chocolate, dark chocolate

its' all smooth and sweet to me baby :D

  • @Emrald70 And pink on the inside :P

  • damn, i wish i was black!

  • Prefer the girls in the orange dresses so much attitude and very diva love love..

  • I think its funny when the black girls say sshe WAS the new girl in town. Makes you think a ACCIDENT happened to her.

  • the black ones remind me of the hercules disney movie :P the girls that sing! :D

  • @WolfClanAlfa The muses?

  • @jinglybell1 haha yup! :D

  • @WolfClanAlfa Aren't they awesome? >_<

  • @WolfClanAlfa LOL I was thinking the same thing when i first saw this! Throughout the whole movie but especially on this song.

  • there's this, i dunno...this special voice that blacks have when they harmonize. When they sing it's really awesome....

  • Comment removed

  • errm, think i prefer the white version

  • The Black version put sum STANK on it, deff upbeat. makes u wanna get up and slap sombody...hahaha but i love the cuteness of the white version, and their dresses are fab esp Amber's black and white one when she's boo'd up on Link.. Both versions are fab in my opinion. =]

  • someone preferring one from the other doesn't make one better than the other, it's just whichever one that you like according to you.. and we can't be naive and not see that of course a large percentage of blacks would like the black version, and whites the white version..

  • i hate it when songs break into this horrible fast speed version near the end... it was sooooo perfect with the slower tempo....

  • me gusta mas la version negra

  • I know this movies a few years old, but it always makes me thinks it's actually FROM the 60's.

  • haha

"Penny this is Seaweed, Seaweed this is Penny"

  • Of course the black girls performance is way better, it's on purpose. It's to show that, even doing a better show with better quality, the black don't get as much audience as the white. It's all there. White girls make innocent silly dancemoves while black girls simply kill it. Filmmakers wanted you to like their performance better. They think about everything!

  • @renaobrazil lol thank you! Glad I'm not the only one that actually knew that xD

  • I like the lady in the middle in the black version has some arms!

  • This is me and my cousins song! We only met 4 years ago, even though we've been cousins our whole life. We watch this movie whenever we meet up <3

  • If I see one more person referring to Glee, I will vomit.

  • 240p we meet again....

  • so at the end the new girl got hit by a moving van??

  • @dede12397 OMG how did i not notice that...LMAO. Apparently so... O_o

  • lol that big little girl is sending my sales through the roof

  • i watched the musical I WAS SO AWESOME sadly they didnt have this song it was my fav in the movie

  • I like both!!!

  • i like them both black or white dosnt matter

  • i love the white girls version

    jox:)

  • I love all the comments about how annoying the white girls are. Ah, so good to see racial prejudice alive and well. It goes both ways, people!

  • @ludicrus32 Haha so true!

  • The dynamites would actually keep their man from the new girl

  • white people look like damn foos tryna dane like black people :/ jus sayin

  • them white girls are damn annoying, like foo-foo dolls

  • at 0:55 her smiles really sweet

  • i don't get the ending? does the new girl get killed my the moving van or does another girl move in?

  • @mihtagaran

    she gets run over :(

  • I LOVEBOTH VERSIONS :D

  • is the one in the green queen latifa?

  • OMG I love how they move her neck *-*

  • The girls in the orange dresses owned the first version <3

  • love this!

  • The part the women in the orange dresses sang was wow. Damn...DIVA'S BABY

  • The blonde version is cute but the black version damn!!! they rock!!!! wow!!!! and dance and sing better!!!

  • @Dabexoxo13 the blonde version is cute.. kind of racest dot you think. then to say the black version. Wow you you have alot to learn about life. Go get help you racest

  • @divernick100 Saying black or white is not being racist, i think thats just a color of skin people are more than that, so i think that way but if u think otherway i must say im sorry it wastn my intention okay, and u have 2 learn how to see people more than just see their color, peace bro

  • YAYYYYY! PROUD 2 B BLACK!!!!

  • I usually don't believe in love at first sight, but in Seaweed and Penny's case I'll make an exception.

  • I like the soul version better!

  • I'm black and I like the white version better its no big deal who likes what version more

  • I love the two versions : the white one is cute, the black one is cool!

  • tracy is sooo anoying!!!! not because she is big but she is so... so... SWEET!!!

  • "I'm gonna get her after school." *fists imaginary pussy*

  • I love the diva head sliding the black girls did. I LOVE being able to do that. None of my Caucasian friends can do it! lol!

  • I prefer the white version, it's cuter c: .

  • I love this song and i really hope my school does this musical it would be soooo much fun!

  • @MsAlyssaSings It's a lot of fun, and a lot of work. Unfortunately, this song was cut before the final version of the stage musical. It was added back in for the movie, but if you perform this play then you won't get the chance to perform this song.

  • The black girls remind me of dreamgirls....

  • Kinda sad that the white girls are sing meekly and dressed like dolls, when the black girls are dressed sexily and sing with a strong voice.

    Kinda diffrent nowadays. : /

  • I love the mowtown version!!!

  • @buhvansex thank you sooo much. I cannot wait to see your video

  • i love this song and move
