Well, I don't know about him being gay but according to his facebook page, he's a born-again Christian and attends a Baptist church in Marietta. If someone like that is really gay, they must have some very serious issues going on inside of them. I don't think he's gay.
Regarding the soft hits, I think they did that on purpose. He means calming music but deliberately sounds like he's saying something which he wouldn't ordinarily be able to say on tv. They at Good Eats do this sometimes, I've noticed. Like the Christmas episode when Charles Dickens is picking out a ham at the butcher shop, he says that it must be "well hung". Accident? I think not.
From South Florida to Arizona. No hope in getting them back but it's a good thing Lodge keeps making them. I have replaced them AND have inherited 30+ year old skillets, dutch and a griddle! All sesoned to perfection! It's a good thing I've been a good boy - Karma works!
When I moved last time, I forgot to get my 3 cast iron skillets and HUGE dutch oven from the attic! DOH!!! I hope the current tenents are enjoying them....
My dad owns 9 cast iron camp stoves (as AB calls them; we call them Dutch Ovens), and uses them pretty often. Every summer we do a Cast Iron Chef America, and it's my favorite summer activity. So much fun, so much good food.
ok yea the whole "did he say hard tits" thing is sooooo freakin retarded!!! hes sayin SOFT HITS you stewpid person i mean u rly think he said that u r the most smartest personi n the world (sacastic) just in case u thought i was serious - directed to stapler78 & cocoacorin
He's just showing his age. In the seventies and eighties there were lots and lots of commercials for "soft hits" compilation records and they always showed a coupled romantically cuddled in front of a fireplace. But I'm sure EVERY guy like soft tits as well. Hell, I'm female and I thought he said soft tits at first too. It's that weird LA/Georgia accent he has.
Well, nice try, but no cookie. Aluminum melts at just over 900K, which is about 1200F. But that's pure aluminum - which most cookware isn't. In fact, most cast aluminum (think cookware) has silicon added, which does, in fact lower the melting point to around 900F.
Yes, officially, Lodge cast iron says season your iron at 350F - and so does Alton. Unofficially, at least one Lodge rep has admitted that higher temps give a better seasoning - but it makes a lot of smoke, and Lodge doesn't need folks calling in and complaining about the smoke. Because I may cook as high as 500F for some breads in my dutch oven, that's what I season all my iron at - and it's black, slick and non-stick. YMMV
Agreed. I've had the same cast iron pan for almost 3 years now, and I originally seasoned it at 350 per the Lodge reccomendation, but the past few times I have gone as high as 475. It does make a good amount of smoke as the fat goes through pyrolysis but I feel it was well worth it and not really a nuisance with a good vent.
When you wash your dutch oven you have to be careful. If it is brand new the iron can absorb the water you wash it in. Wash it quickly and you should be alright.
ok this may be just me but at the time when the agent dudes come in and the guy takes out that scanner thing, is that the background soound for the loading screne from crash bandicoot 4???
No. Soft HITS. Like the infomercials they show on TV selling music collections? They have one for 'soft contemporary' and they always show a picture of a couple snuggled up in front of a fireplace.
I love enjoying soft tits.

Yeah, this was me last week, we had a major nor'easter and the power went out for several days!

@zoeyjusko People can be gay AND Christian... Although he's married and got a daughter. So that's kind of an indicator.

I use oak wood coals. They hold the heat longer but they are killer to get going.
rampantimagination 3 years ago
If you happen to have a natural gas torch laying around with a large nozzle, you can season a cast iron pan in less than 7 minutes.
I love shop class. =)
