When you get your paycheck at the end of the week, you do not accumulate any wealth or actual assets. Those federal reserve notes (now digits in a computer) are representative of debt. Our currency is not sound, it is not backed by any solid real assets. This has to change. The source of the problem is the freakin Federal Reserve system.

2)RP doesn't want to wait for Congress to cut spending before lowering taxes. He supported cutting them (in my opinion) to give Congress an incentive to cut spending. RP himself even said that there is no point in cutting taxes if your not going to cut spending.

Yes that's true, but the circumstances now are different than in the Great Depression. The root cause of this mess today is the massive injection of money into the system to support wars, increasing deficit, causing inflation and currency devaluation. The problem now is to keep on monetizing debt and continuing spending spending without limits, instead of bringing balance to the budget. There is a missallocation of resources because of the massive increase of the money supply.
We had financial panics in 1837, 1857, 1873, 1890, and 1907 while on the gold standard. The Federal Reserve was created in 1913 to stop this and FDIC insurance was added in the depression.

This year our government will run up $407B in debt, while americans export $700B in cash to import oil. Our trade deficit is around $60B a month. What we need is American made electric cars and more domestic energy.

From what I understand, many states do not allow write-in votes (democracy, eh?) ... and in some states, write ins are allowed, but not counted. I agree with you that he should still be running for president, though. Ron Paul hasn't 'tucked tail', he is helping us to learn more about the local/state/federal political structure, and gives guidance on the campaign for liberty website.
He knows he can't win, none of us can win yet. That's why it's better to leave the campaigning to the Barr's and the Baldwin's and try to organize the next stage from what he's already accomplished: uniting enthusiastic, like minded people who want change and are willing to work for it. If it takes 10 or 15 (or more) years to beat the system, then that's a good 10-15 years spent. The cause is more important that any one person and will outlast Ron Paul, despite how great of a man he is.

2)RP doesn't want to wait for Congress to cut spending before lowering taxes. He supported cutting them (in my opinion) to give Congress an incentive to cut spending. RP himself even said that there is no point in cutting taxes if your not going to cut spending.

Yes that's true, but the circumstances now are different than in the Great Depression. The root cause of this mess today is the massive injection of money into the system to support wars, increasing deficit, causing inflation and currency devaluation. The problem now is to keep on monetizing debt and continuing spending spending without limits, instead of bringing balance to the budget. There is a missallocation of resources because of the massive increase of the money supply.

Dr Paul is absolute right. The market will need to correct itself. A painful, but necessary thing. It is interesting that Cheney converted his wealth to foreign currency and that he purchased a home in Dubai for his retirement. Guess he won't be hurting. I suspect Bush and his family won't either. Can't congress still mint coins from gold and silver? Can congress somehow authorize the printing of an alternate currency so there's at least something out there in the USA of value before the complete collapse? I haven't read up enough on this to know if it can be done - does anyone know?

That is essentially one of the plans Dr. Paul speaks of. Unfortunately many political leaders either don't understand the true nature of our financial system or they are in the pocket of the private bankers that run the Federal Reserve. The other problem is the fact that for over 20 years we have not had a audit of our actual reserve in Fort Knox. There is suspicion the reason for this audit refusal by the treasury is because there is no gold or silver in there. Check out Zeitgeist Addendum

Yeah its true. Makes a farce of your country what they did to him. My friend just got back from a 3 month visit back home to MA and she said the country was going down the shitter big time. She spoke to a lot of people who didn't even know about Ron Paul. Its crazy that people abroad know more about whats going on in the United States than the locals.

There will be a change in government in 2009. The people will be awakened. Although they have been underground for a couple of years due to big brother, NESARA is already in the works. Google it. I'm starting to think these "mistakes" are anything but. When doing something has the effect you want, you do it again. If it doesn't advance your agenda, you change tactics. So why are Congress and the Executive branches running the Great Depression playbook (Were in the Hoover years now)? Perhaps its "better the devil you know" now that things have gotten a bit uncertain, but it seems less and less like a bad reaction to a unforeseen accident every day. Is a power grab the goal?

You are so wrong, Ralph (it's me, boe... we've had discussions on your youtube.) From what I understand, many states do not allow write-in votes (democracy, eh?) ... and in some states, write ins are allowed, but not counted. I agree with you that he should still be running for president, though. Ron Paul hasn't 'tucked tail', he is helping us to learn more about the local/state/federal political structure, and gives guidance on the campaign for liberty website.

He knows he can't win, none of us can win yet. That's why it's better to leave the campaigning to the Barr's and the Baldwin's and try to organize the next stage from what he's already accomplished: uniting enthusiastic, like minded people who want change and are willing to work for it. If it takes 10 or 15 (or more) years to beat the system, then that's a good 10-15 years spent. The cause is more important that any one person and will outlast Ron Paul, despite how great of a man he is.
