I just wanna point out that humans are animals too, and every animal has potential to gain an increase of intelligence, it's just a matter of how they evolve. So you never know in the future that dog running around your house could become superior in intelligence someday oh my XD
I think I would have made a perfect Victorian aged girl.. I don't think I would have cared too much about the restrictions, I would have loved wearing those kind of clothes..... Sometimes I feel I was born in the wrong era, lol. They should have this kind of camp for older girls!
dammit..if I were a girl I could have done this, I grew up right on the river from minneapolis to st. paul, they should make a men's one teaching them how to deal with steam and fixing gears or what not
@hela2000 Steampunk is for people who have no idea what life and society was actually like in the Victorian era. It's a Hot Topic/Gothic brand of idiocy.
@UptownThriftStore I think you miss the point, I think Steampunk is about an ALTERNATE, 'never was' history. It probably wasn't that great for the average (broke) person, but that's the same for every era.
As much as I LOVE the idea, the costumes are not accurate to what 12 and 13-year-old girls would have worn in the Victorian times. They wouldn't have worn corsets until they were aged 16 nor would they have worn a bustle nor would their gowns have reached the floor. Girls their age had their dresses come a little over the knee (mid calf-length) and would have been of different stylings. There would have been sailor collars, bertha collars, and lace trimmings and whatnot.
So you'd rather live in a time where basically the only thing you could do was get married and have kids and hope your husband didn't beat you? (( It was legal back then!! ))
I understand loving the era, I do myself, but some things were just plain stupid! Then again, things are still stupid sometimes today..
As for the era, the further evolution goes, the more monotonic life becomes. At least people constantly paid attention to manner and clothing etiquette back then, genders were more distinct, and even though life was harder, at least it was more interesting.
Stupidity will exist as long as humanity does? Well what do you call ANIMALS? At least we don't crap in public, have the decency to wear clothes, can actually TALK and show our love for each other!
Think before you post. Humanity is a wonderful thing.
@DazzieMetallikat I wouldn't want to be lectured by people who call animals stupid. Animal intellect is limited by nature. No one blames you for being born of a different kind or sex. Stupidity is a result of vast intellectual capabilities. Only those who consider themselves smart are idiots, whilst those who consider themselves idiots are smart. Does Socrates ring a bell to you?
Were humanity to be so wonderful, it wouldn't have had the reason to seek change.
@DazzieMetallikat It wasn't intended to make sense for those with little comprehension of the obvious. I'd go for picture slideshows with 2 to 5 word captions to convey my point to the representatives of the imbecile society.
@utsukushiiOto Very well said. Though I love the preachings of the other famous Greek Philosopher Diogenes, I do appreciate some of the philosophical preachings of Socrates. I also agree stupidity is define vastly and varies. I prefer the Greek definition which is a citizen who doesn't participate in public affairs or doesn't connect with his society; one incapable of seeing the world outside of oneself. Anyways just wanted to compliment your comment, in case the thumbs up doesn't work. Peace.
I wish like the devil my mother had sent me to a place like this. Instead I got sent to outdoorsy camp twice and it was some of the worst time spent in my life because I HATE to be outdoors!
This would have been so fun. A finishing camp. If this is still around when I have my daughterf, she WILL GO!
This should be available for all ages in Britain also a similar one should be available for young lads to teach them some manners and how to respect the ladies
@merlintwilight Not just in Britian, but through out the world. Every nation should have programs that teach ladies and gents to be ladies and gents. I truly believe that if you can treat those within your own society with respect and have manners, than it's easier to transfer that respect and great manners towards those from other societies and nations. :)
I wish I could go to that summer camp =(

stupid vs ignorance
Ignorance is just not knowing something,
stupidity is being unwilling to learn.

Bullshit. I'd chose a world of strict etiquette, over a monotonic shithole any day.
