In fact I had to marathon the series but only got as far as episode 6 and I was too eager to make the video before seeing any more episodes.

Nozomu has no particular interest, but the pairing seems to have been the most accepted towards the early manga. Even the first two season openings had scenes with Nozomu and Matoi in a relationship or another.

However, as the manga went on, and the anime was produced, it seems Chiri, and currently Nami, get to spend more time with Nozomu, while Matoi is merely a background decoration like Stick-Dog and the Penguin.

Besides, the type of manga SZS is, I doubt we'll get an actual pairing.

There is no one that Nozomu likes in particular. However, many of the girls in the class have developed a crush on him for various reasons, but their advances cause him a lot of discomfort and anxiety, most likely since most schools in Japan have policies against teachers dating students (even though the age of consent is 13 in Japan) and he's afraid of getting fired. There's also the statement by one of his students that he refuses to open up to anyone which is another possibility.
