Don't forget a K&N is *NOT* a filter, it doesn't filter air to the standard of a paper filter, it has a much smaller surface area and big holes in it. It clogs up faster than a paper filter so performance degrades after a few thousand miles. You effectivelt sandblast the engine and/or turbo if fitted when a K&N is used. They are a waste of time and restrict power from a properly designed air filter and housing. Try it on a rolling road, you will bin the K&N and be quite annoyed as I was!
No my car idles fine both before and after the installation of the V2. In addition to that i don't get the white milky stuff on the dipstick like i use to before the installation of this intake
No. CAI doesn't have anything to do with water or coolant in the oil. It can happen if there is an oil to water oil cooler that is leaking or a gasket leaking. It can also happen if you take short trips very frequently, not allowing the engine to fully warm up and evaporate the condensation from the oil. It's possible that he just drives it harder now to hear the intake and it warms the engine up enough on short trips. Short trips (less than 5 miles or 10 mins driving) can also cause sludge.
White milky substance on the dipstick is not from synthetic oil, it just happens to some of the older rx8's, there is a TSB about it. Personally I don't use synthetic oil but there really is no proof it is bad. Then there is the fact that Mazda makes fully synthetic oil specifically for the rx8.
