  • A living legend!

  • Karajan + Furlanetto!!

  • Wunderbare Stimme, absolute musikalische Sensibilität, Sinn und Risikobereitschaft für dynamische Feinheiten. BRAVISSIMO!

    SO SCHÖN!

  • Good, both my friends you must see László Polgár! H'is the Best, like voice, like character

  • If only the people of youtube could see how hard I'm crying right now. Bravo, bravo, bravo. Thank you so much for posting this <3

  • Thank you so much Mr.Furlanetto for grace you give these already beautiful characters. I say this from the bottom of my heart.

  • Damn I'm leaving New York and won't be able to see him next season in Don Carlo. Life sucks.

  • @MaxwellsDemon9 What is to be done? You must stay, that's obvious. Family, job, whatever, must wait...perhaps you can bring the Met with you, it's big but...

  • dopo Ghiaurov,Christoff,Siepi,Neri,Giaiotti ecc... che posso dire ?Nel 21 secolo dove sono questi bassi ?

  • My favorurite living King Philip. The only singer I can compare him to is Mihály Székely. So human and loveable... and his voice is simply beautiful.

  • @Sieglinde84 I've heard Furlanetto live in this role three times. He's the most brilliant Filippo ever. A friend told me that when she saw him live in this role, the little girl who was sitting next to her didn't move a muscle all during this scene, she was so entranced with Furlanetto's performance.

  • This particular Verdi aria touches the deepest , darkest depths of my soul

  • I love Furlanetto

  • does anybody know who played the cello solo part?

  • KARAJAN!!!

  • I adore Furlanetto - a true basso. A rarity among contemporary Italians! Wish he'd have cut a CD of Verdi arias early in his career!

  • What grabs me about Furlanetto here, (who was a late replacement barely having time to have a rehearsal for Jose Van Dam) is the incredible intensity and focus which radiates from his eyes. Of course then there is the instrument which is deep oaky mahagony, which still to this strips the paint off the theater walls.

  • His lack of preparation gave him the chance to feel his way around for himself. I have never seen or heard a Filippo like him. He has a way of playing this that makes you just ache inside. And yes his voice is deep and warm. I would classify his voice as early morning coffee.

  • You might consider - oh, I don't know - putting VERDI'S name in the title, or at least in the description.

  • @Jitpring lol

  • What a great singer! Amazing!!! Also the way Karajan handles the orchestra in this aria is wonderful

  • @Greatpretender1 Karajan is this legendary perforance conducted the Berlinners wonderfully! Just imagine the B. P. O. as the orchestra for the performance! Not even Napoleon ever had such a luxury! The sound of this DVD is wonderful, and the Berlin Philarmonic sounds absolutely magnifenct in Salzburg Hall... Furlanetto singing is WONDERFUL!

  • I enjoyed this man's singing

  • disappointing if you wanted a horrible performance. The man rules the stage but isn't afraid to share it. Come on that is to much awesomeness for one opera house

  • Outstanding, and I like the cello part which here is given in its entirety.

  • ENORMEMMENTE ENORMEEEEE!!!

  • Amazingly intense.Beautiful.

  • realmente emocionante

  • Ho sentito decine di interpretazioni di questo brano, ma Furlanetto è insuperabile, più grande di Cesare Siepi. Intenso, emotivamente coinvolto. E' indimenticabile.

  • Concordo pienamente!

  • W-O-W-!!!!!!!!

  • GIGANTE!!!!

  • Amazing, thank you for posting this!

Merci Monsieur.

  • very good clip. I am lucky enough to be seeing him at Covent Garden next week in this role

  • I saw him on june the 6th and he was truly amazing. his scenes with Eric Halfvarson were absolutely great. You really have something to look forward to!

  • I saw him tonight you were right he was amazing. Villazon cried off sick and this Korean tenor called Alfred Kim was really surprisingly good

  • It is surprising. Usually blacks and Asians in such roles require too much suspension of disbelief for me. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Von Karajan & Furlanetto, perfetti!!!!!

  • Danke ,mimmi!

    See you in Bohème!
