In laymans terms, the wheel is used to focus on the target in exactly the same way as a camera, it does nothing else! The range is then read off the marking band and translated in to dialling for the turret.
Huge wheels are not necessary, small is better and easier to use. 1.17 a Hako made scope top whack 5", that ones bigger. Errors will still be exactly the same regardless of size of gaps.
The larger side mounted Adjustable Objective wheels offer more area for separating individual yardage markings as well as the use of larger fonts on the printed tapes for those of us who need glasses... There are some radically cool designs of those focus wheels out there that adds personality to an individuals FT rigs... If you know or know of someone who can customize the bands for your specific rig, they are extremely accurate at ranging your targets... Helps to have good equipment.. lol
All the good shots mark their own distances and do not rely or trust anything else, same with turret count the clicks.
Some cheapy scopes are not progressive in the focus and dialling such as BSA/Niko, Hako/Tasco, any way only takes an hour to set up properly 6 yards to 22 every yard and every 2 1/2 yards to 60.
The accuracy of range finding comes from the user not the label or wheel.

:O
look at 1:17
why is that huge wheel there???
and not just a normal ´click´ adjusts?
nlrobonator 2 years ago
its a parrelex wheel to change the impact point of the pellet at a set range, so not to disturb stance while range finding.
