  • Is that Tom Larson at the beginning?

  • The most amazing thing about this video is not how old it is, the uniforms, etc...but that the Seals actually won the game!

  • Bobby Sheehan could fly, fast skater.

  • Those poor old Seals- mismanaged, stripped clean by the WHA, almost like a ghost team. I would buy a ticket in the upper level and sneak down to the lower bowl most every time. There was a loyal fan base, but it was too small to be of much consequence. The Coliseum Arena in those days held only about 12,000 for hockey- by the end, ownership wouldn't have turned a profit even if every game sold out...

  • It's unusual that the Seals don't have their colored skates (they had three different versions during the Finley era). This was their second season in the green and gold and the colored skates were introduced in the first year (70-71), two versions: green skate with gold trim, and gold skate with green trim. The only other time I remember them wearing normal skates in the green/gold uniforms was near the end of 74-75 when Finley sold the team back to the NHL.

  • The best Bruins team may have been the 1970-71 team that was upset by Montreal in the playoffs.

  • Nice! Yes, that's Tom Larsen. Like how you can hear the crowd after a goal is scored - no horns or idiotic music blasting.

  • @jakeelwell ah there it is! I knew i couldn't get through a whole page without some comment from a bitter old fart

  • The familiar voice of Fred Cusic. And is that Tom Larsen right at the beginning?

  • @Fairmont4ever Yes it is.

  • @LowellDevil I love Tom's sideburns!

  • @Fairmont4ever Somebody out there HAS TO have some old clips of Tom Larson from his TV38 days. He had two shows, The Tom Larson show which aired weekday mornings, and Larson Sunday Night. If anyone has clips of either or both shows, please post them!

  • I still cringe when I see Ed Johnston in net for the Bruins. Gerry Cheevers was way better.

  • Its cool getting watch teams like the seals and scouts play since I wasnt around. Watching the North Stars wasnt the same as seeing them in Oakland or Cleveland.

  • This game was played December 12th, 1971 and won by California 4-2.

  • i was in 9th grade, i love these old vids. a close friend of mine got hit by a car, or run over near his house on 24july1972, tommy donlon was his name we were 14. these old bruin vids make me think of him alive, we were from waltham mass, so the bruins were great in those days. i miss tommy so much, 1972 is a long time ago.

  • The Bruins were fantastic that season. Great to see this old video. Gilles Meloche was actually a very good goaltender for the Seals but played on horribly bad teams most of his career and never got much credit.

  • @HAFFNELSON

Meloche would have been a much better goaltender if he hadn't get so shalactic with the Seals. By the time he got traded he was like the goaltender in slapshot-seen to many pucks!

  • If I have recalled, that was the year that the Bruins won the Stanley Cup.

  • Nope,the Bruins won the Cup in 69-70 & 71-72 seasons.

  • Hello, this was a Game during the 1972 Season.

I am a Bruins Fan, I have never seen the Bruins win the Stanley Cup. Living in Los Angeles, combined with the fact that I didn't really get into Hockey until 1974, when I cried seeing the Bruins lose to Philadelphia, for the Stanley Cup.

  • Good stuff ; it was the Bruins broadcast, with Fred Cusick and Johnny Peirson....

  • AWESOME videos you have posted........Seals videos, Crazy George.......GREAT!
