Hello! I'm planning on buying this to play for a competition, but I wanted to ask ; wht is the range on this piece? By that, what is the lowest/highest note one would play in it?
Well, I'm looking for a grade VI next year at the Solo Ensemble festival, and I know this is grade V, but it sounds really hard. Any tips? Either recommending this or something else?
It is very hard. I probably should not have done it this early, but it wasn't my choice. :P Anyway, I would suggest the Robert Muczinsky preludes. Not sure of the grade level, but they are short and great and would work well for solo and ensemble. I did them my senior year of high school and I'm doing them again for a recital at the end of July.
This is actually a very difficult piece. because of expressiveness and advanced techniques. There are many rating systems...not sure what rating system you two were using. Probably isn't the best choice for solo/ensemble. Frech book selections are good but over-done. No Mozart or Concertino. Flute World site you can check grades of music, look for level 3, 3+, 4(1-5 scale). Better to do something at a 3-3+ very well than a 4 poorly--like Prokofiev. Good luck :)
Oh...there is a letter grading system on National Flute Association site. Also, if you wait until convention in August you can see wht the NFA High School competition pieces for next year will be and use one of those. Choose what you love...there's lot's out there to play. :) :)

It goes from middle C up to the top B on the flute. It's pretty extensive- good luck! I hope you do well!
