so "think" watermelons aren't ripe yet, "thank" watermelons are getting there, and "thunk" sounding watermelons are good and ripe. (This maybe be a method to use when the watermelon is still on the vine, though.

If watermelon sounds more like BOOM BOOM when u hit it, it is better. if it sounds like bim bim (unlike the fat sound of boom!) then most probably that watermelon is not sweet or ready to eat yet.
