I keep coming back to this, and it just captivates me. This is the perfect medium for bringing Lovecraft's weird fiction to the visual realm. It's brilliant!
@MrWilum Thanks. I appreciate your comments. Looking back at this, It's hard for me to watch seeing how crude the animation is compared to what I'm doing lately. I'll have to re-visit this story again one day.
this is my favorite nobel from H.P lovecraft because features my favorite character Yog-sothot nice work btw
"Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth"
There is no finer Literature than H. P. Lovecraft, who has been publish'd by Penguin Classics and The Library of America. This video is excellent -- you have superbly captured the horror of the story, the fate of Lavinia, the brutality that is but hinted in Lovecraft's tale.
Yes -- I've mentioned in my personal vlogs that the Penguin editions are my all-time favourite editions of Lovecraft. Indeed, I carried all three of them with me in Providence as S. T. took a few of us on a walking tour of Lovecraft's homes, Prospect Terrace, the Charles Dexter Ward mansion, &c &c.
Just reading the book and it's superb. Very dark and interesting characters . I always read the descriptions over again. Fantastic , gory and atmospheric although i seem to picture it in black, grey and white not in colour
O well thanks, I recently checked Barnes&Noble for this book but they didnt have it. Why? I mean seriously they have the abortion to literature that is twilight, but they don't have any books (not even my favorite) by H.P. Lovecraft who as you know is the father of the modern horror genre.
Try Borders. They have a large selection of Lovecraft, Cthulhu Mythos anthologies and other related matter including a book on Lovecraft in the movies.
The necronomicon isn't real, although I wish it were. The closest thing to the necronomicon I could find is "codex seraphinianus" check it out, crazy stuff.
Barnes & Noble has two books: "The Call of Cthulhu and Other Dark Tales" and "At the Mountains of Madness and Other Weird Tales"; both are part of the bookstore's classics series.
@J0HNFR33M4N I just recently picked up a copy of "H.P. Lovecraft: The Complete Fiction" from the Barnes & Noble in my area, you should check the store again to see if you can't find a copy of that.
Since YouTube has begun deleting my animations, you probably won't see any more here. When I find a new host, I'll post a link on the Renderosity forums.
Yes, granted, the music powers the scenes, but the weird, statue-like appearance of your characters adds the requisite creepiness. You really captured the Lovecraft spirit!
Thanks. I shouldn't say unfortunately, but a number of instructors at my work have seen these animations here on YouTube and now I'm swamped with requests to do films for their classes. I don't know when I'll be able to do my own films again for a while, not that I'm complaining or anything.
That opener... WOW! Creepy as hell!

Well done. Lovecraft is great. I could definitely do without all the background noise though. Overkill.

Agreed, Mr Wilum. Let me also highly recommend the three volume Penguin edition, edited by ST Joshi. They're the pride of my bookshelf!

Wow, that sounds like a very cool tour. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Joshi in 2005 when he was GoH at a small con in Madison.

People these days read that trash and It's ruining the bookstores. We seriously need stores dedicated to fine literature.

rocketguy2 3 years ago
Thank you. I think the atmosphere is mostly a result of the excellent music track I found to accompany the animation.
misterskuts 3 years ago
Yes, granted, the music powers the scenes, but the weird, statue-like appearance of your characters adds the requisite creepiness. You really captured the Lovecraft spirit!
