  • Honestly, I find Newt incredibly annoying. While watching the film I find myself wishing she'd be killed. I don't know what it is about the character, but I just cannot stand her.

  • the best one to me

  • Also, I think, personally, that Alien takes place in a post-feminist world, so Ripley isn't exactly a strong FEMALE character, she's just a strong character in general.

  • Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

  • I see what you're saying about the Queen Alien being a great addition, and it made for one helluva climactic scene, but it simplified the xenomorphs too much IMO. Basically turned them into a hive of space-insects and removed most of the fascinating ambiguity that the first film created.

As for where the eggs come from, well there's a certain deleted scene (restored for the 2003 Director's Cut) in Alien that answers it, and it's quite horrific and, well, alien. And much more interesting.

  • @enigma19833 Every Alien film after Aliens has been garbage. Its pretty hard to complain that Aliens did anything to hurt the series when compared to the cinematic achievments of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.

  • that marine ship looks like the pillar of autumn :)

  • @tsunamaisurfer606 Yeah true. You noticed how similar to apone is to johnson in halo? Also the weaponry and armour of the halo marines has a distinct feel of the aliens marines too. Maybe the parasitical flood has similarities to the parasitical aliens in this. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that maybe, just maybe, a good chunk of Halo was inspired by Aliens....

  • @thebobsterjones Halo is well known for being heavily inspired by Aliens. The vehicles are incredibly similar in appearance too, as well as the bits you mentioned.

  • Feminists still suck ass.

  • the original alien was deffinantly alot scarier! (but this was really good to and a very diffrerent movie at that soo its hard to compare :))

but seeing alien for the first time was amazing, just the whole mystery of what that ship was, why it was there, face huger and the seemingly invincible alien terror hiding aboard the ship picking them off one by one.

i wasnt a big fan of how they made the aliens go from an almost invincible creature to something that was only a threat in endless hordes

  • upkarsaimbi, thank you for agreeing with me. I don't think they should try to remake The Terminator or Terminator 2 either. I'm sure Hollywood will try. Money is their religion. BUT, despite what some may think, Cameron will probably refuse to be involved.

  • Best movie ever made!

  • Btw, folks, why is it you automatically assume that Alien is the better film when you reach a certain age?? Cameron doesn't miss a step in Aliens IMO. He made a film for himself and the rest of us to enjoy, over and over again. If you know how films are crafted, you would understand how genius and how much of an adult masterpiece Aliens actually is.

  • TheKink, what the hell is wrong with you? They should NEVER remake Alien or Aliens. They're on the "Don't Touch" list as far as I'm concerned. Look at what happened with the remake of Psycho.

  • @LukeLovesRose Honestly its hard to say that a new film would ruin the series.

The last Alien movie sucked ass lol

Honestly if they made a new one I think we fans would just shrug it off if its not good who cares if they remake it we dont got to watch it

  • How long before they re-make this movie. I mean Conan's being re-booted and Short Circuit, ffs!!!! Or maybe they'll try to make a decent AvP film first.

  • @TheKlink Both Alien and Aliens should should not be remade, since these are enjoyed as they are even today. They have not dated at all, in fact I showed Aliens to a friend recently who doesn't normally like action or horror - and she was glued to the film. There are some films that should never be touched, such as Godfather / Indiana Jones / Star Wars / Alien Series.

  • @upkarsaimbi If anything they should continue on the series by pretending Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection never happened similar to what they Singer did with Superman Returns (even though it sucked). Alien and Aliens are great movies for different reasons. Alien is an excellent sci-fi horror film whereas Aliens is an excellent Action sci-fi film.

Cameron was spot on in going in a different direction rather than trying to emulate Scott's film.

  • @TheKlink

No absolutely not let's not piss on James Cameron again isn't it enough that they made 3 and Resurection and what about the terrible Terminator 3, Sarrah Connor series and Terminator Salvation.

No stop it find something new to do and if you can't you shouldn't be making films anyway

  • i love your gender-studies read on this monumental film.

  • u know that it should be impossible for the girl to evade the aliens dont u?

  • @TheOiass why?

  • @badassninja33 they are fucking badass predators that shoul be able so see you even trough walls when they get close enoght to you.... they should be able to smell u and are super strong... i'm not saying... completely impossible in all the life that exist but... it should be pretty hard :D

  • @badassninja33 Oh, you meant newt. sorry, i thought you were being sexist against women. what we had here was a breakdown in communication.

  • Your impression of Paxton is superb! :D "game over man! GAME OVER!". nice videos

  • I prefer Aliens to Alien, only because I'm not partial to getting the piss scared outta me...

but the main reason is the MARINES. HELL YEAH.

  • I totally agree, Aliens has everything. one of the greatest sequels ever. Its 25 years old and it still has'nt been matched by any other sci-fi movie since. some may argue that, but its all about CGI these days, the story and characterisation is forgotten! We loved Hicks,Hudson,Vasquez and the rest. (I didnt give a toss about any of the crew of the Betty). Alien is also a fantastic movie,What Ridley Scott did was truly groundbreaking but for me Cameron took it one step further with Aliens.

  • I liked the extra scenes, but I thought ultimately they were unnecessary and that the 'less is more' approach worked better. It became too complicated in the special edition.

  • @KeeharsTourettes Yeah, "Alien" had that "always present tension" while "Aliens" was probably the most stunning war movie ever made.

  • Ive noticed alot of people didnt like Hudson because he was too annoying, ive served in the military and have come across a few "Hudsons" in my time,Cameron really knew what he was doing when he cast Hudson as the cocky loud mouth who cracks when things go bad and becomes a selfish coward at times, spot on

  • Aliens is another great addition to the series, though in looking at it now from a 29 year olds point of view Alien is clearly the superior film but that doesn't in any way take away my enjoyment of Aliens. There are enough nods to the first film but also its own ideas to pay respect but also be different. I can say the only draw back is the Marine characters except Hicks and the Hispanic woman. I love Bill Paxton but Hudson is really annoying until the middle portion of the film.

  • @RASOOL28 Thats funny, because as a 28 year old I still consider Aliens to be my favorite. I think both films are about equal. Since they are both a different type of film, its hard to compare them. Alien goes the horror route whereas Aliens comes at it from an action point of view. Both suit the subject matter well and both Scott and Cameron hit the nail of the head with their interpretations.

  • BEST. SCI. FI. EVER.

Cameron took the concept from "alien" (1979) and multiplied it by a hundred.

  • @delt01 Personally I find Alien better than Aliens, but of course ALiens is also one of the best scifi movies of all time aswell.. I just like the feeling of the first one better

  • This time, it's war!

Great film & in my opinion the best. With the prequel, i believe the series will in fact end at Aliens, ignoring 3 & Resurrection and is a logic end to the excellent story. I actually like that as the end. The prequel I assume will introduce us to LV426/Space Jockeys, and the true villain of the series: THE QUEEN! I'd love it to end like this. Good review.

"Can I dream?" "Yes I think we both can."
