  • SUPER!! One of my favorite childhood performers and one of his Best tunes.

  • @buggartt 0:30 Intro sounds like 19the nervous breakdown 0:45 melody sounds like dr. zhivago

  • Still wondering if there are any other recordings like this anywhere. Checked his collection on amazon, etc. and just can't find anything. Help?

  • @dkorwan You won't, Diddley was only performing live in the 80's. Ask only the aficionados! Some of his records are also totally unknown from the public... Search better, you will find :)) (go on the french page in wikipédia ;))

  • @Alchy00 The closest I could find was Live in France in 1989. Oh, and I saw him twice in the 80's. Two of the best shows I've ever seen.

  • @dkorwan Live in France (Turn Up Your House Light) is one of the most interesting (the songs in the end are unedited). In 1989, he stars to play and record again. You can find Breaking Through the B.S. on Soulseek (share), and much more if you use it. Don't forget he was a funky man in the 70's (and a deputy-sheriff), you may also find the San Javier Festival in 2006 (totally free) and Vamp in 2005 (last album).

  • Absolute amazing - thank you very much for sharing !!

  • RIP Mr Diddley!

  • Awesome.

  • This is easily one of the very best things I've ever seen him do, Thank You, Man !!!!!!

  • HOLY FUCK THANK YOU 1000x

  • Wow I knew about Bo all these years but, I DIDNT REALLY KNOW ABOUT BO. I have downloaded about 60 of his tunes here lately. I am addicted to this mans music. No i know exactly why George Thorogood thought of this man as a god. George Plays exactly like him except with the slide guitar. No i need to go get me a turntable. I would like to buy all Bo's old Records.

  • Possibly the most under-rated musician ...ever...EVER....!!!!......prefer this to hendrix, clapton ,bonamasa or bb king himself......this guy is a LEGEND !!!!

  • never before seen footage and he still plays the same old song, this guy must be the only one in history who gets famous playing just one song

  • Nr 1 ! Nobody can play like this ! Only Bo can do it !!!!!

  • I wish someone would POST that LEANING FORWARD STANCE that Bo was famous for. Also he would LEAN SIDEWAYS,,,defying gravity,,,Almost like his shoes were nailed to the floor. I booked him over and over in the beginning years and all those recording start had it in their contracts,,,no movie cameras etc etc

  • badass , thanks much

  • I think, a century or two hence, this particular piece will be viewed as good as any European genius ever produced. Greater perhaps in terms of spontaneous universal communications :)

  • This is STUPENDOUS.....thank you for posting it,I can listen to it now....whenever I want to...slainte...

  • i saw bo in a small bar on his birthday! started around 9:30 and finished at two...amazing performance. he did the same as this video..messed around.

  • Really interesting. Harmonics.

  • Great stuff!

  • awesome hardcore bluesman

  • Got a chance to see Bo in Tahoe when he was 78. The Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for him. My Dad and 3 of his friends in their 70's tagged along, all of us LOVED the show!

  • Mr Fred, how did you come to shoot this? When does the vid come out?

  • Everything and anything you hear coming out of a guitar?

    It's all been done before.

    By Bo Diddly.

  • Where do people get these types of clips?. It amazes me how they are found. This is absolutely brilliant!!!!!. Many thanks to the guy for posting it. Just think, way back before Youtube this would never be seen by the public.

  • @JeepersCreepersJJP

I'm holding out hope that there might be more videos of him like this out there.

    somewhere.................................

  • Such a cool groove from a cool dude. Everytime I watch this clip it seems better than the time before.

  • The intro almost reminds me of Johny Cash's style....

And then he blows the roof off!

But the rythm, beat, and melody all work even though there is so much variety in this one single jam.

  • awe is what anyone feels immediately

  • Saw him a couple of times in th 80's with other house bands. Some of the best shows I've ever experienced. I had forgotten about them. Thank you so much for this post. So simple, yet so good. Anyone know where I could find some of his live stuff from this time?

  • Amazing, the Ax The Man Wheeled, (literally)

    Rock On Brother Bo.

You could have stood on that

    all day all night.

    Takes me Back...............

    Thanks for the post Fredvs,

    Peace

  • Totally amazing! Thanks for sharing, that guitar sound is excellent.

  • Bo has always been identified as one of the true masters of the art of rock but this obscure and great clip truly showcases the genius of the man. Never to be forgotten!

  • I agree that this footage is incredible, because he rarely played with effects in a live setting....in fact this is my 1st time witnessing this!

  • New faveriate , would be a rad man suck as Mr.Diddely himself. I love it!

  • Bo was the man! Thank you for sharing your filf with me!

  • This guy was a musical genius. We'll miss him.

  • This is a great, great piece of film.

Fantastic. Like all your stuff on youtube. Thank God for those like you who grab bits a history for the rest of us. Never saw BD live but regard him as the great 'Source' for most else since.

    Thanks.

  • thank you very much.

    jeffery

  • i never heard him using these effects before

    cool vid

  • Lake Amador- Northern California

....around 1967-7 - Outdoor concert - Northern California - Lake Amador - Ike and Tina - It's A Beautiful Day - Santana - Bo Diddley- Got to meet him - face to face- blew my mind - couldv'e been something I ate......

  • I saw him play the Sacramento Blues Festival in 1980. Surprisingly small but enthusiastic crowd. Love his guitar.

  • the soundboard guy should die!

  • I had the good fortune of seeing him play at an outdoor amphitheater back in the early 90's! What a show he put on...3 hour set of the most incredible and emotional music.

TYVM for posting this, brings back great memories!

  • that sob sounded real good till then

  • SSSSOUL revival baby

    what a free player

    i love this

he IS my fav, right in front of Curt kirkwood

  • very cool, makes me feel like I'm there

  • Genius

  • saw him in the early 80"s and you are right about the hendrix fingers

  • TYVM for posting this.

I've been around the block and seen some incredible music, both live and here on the Tube.

But this is just over the top, FredVS!

Blues-rock that makes you wanna smile and laugh and cry all at once.

    Play on, Bo Diddley!

    Love to you all, "Suzie"

  • Great Video fredvs Bo was the Man! Bo was the inventor the innovator!

  • I can listen this forever

  • Wow, Bo really is showing some countrified licks on this song reminiscent of pedal-steel guitar, but it sounds insanely delicious with these crazy tunings Bo Diddley invented. I love it!

  • out of this world incredible

  • Thank you for giving me the chance to see this precious footage!

  • excuse me, when was this shot?

  • This is stunning!

  • det fanme fee hva kim!!!

  • Thanks for posting this. He had a unique style of playing guitar and sing. What a cool guitar.

  • great song

  • thanx a lot, that's precious. i'm sure steve albini would adore this recording!!!

  • Very nice! Thank you for posting!

    Anna Marie

  • His generation (later generations as well) of rock is all about rocking out, like Cream for example they would just go off in the middle of a song and just play for 10 minutes and then finish of the song. And that's awesome!

  • He was a "Larger than Life" personality of magnetic presence . A legitimate Legend who figuratively helped pour the foundation of the R&R Hall of Fame building. He contributed, sacrificed & delivered far more to the Art than he ever received. Jimi Hendrix once referenced Bo's "Mumblin' Guitar" { playing techniques similar to this improvisation } as an initial influence on much of his early expressive experimentation as well as Bo's rhythm technique on his own simultaneous lead/rhythm method.

  • @SPAZZOBOXER very well put man

  • WOW. Incredible! Bo will live on in our hearts FOREVER. Anyone know if there is a professional recording of Bo sounding like this anywhere?

  • there is a very rare cd titled two great guitars being chuck berry and bo didley its instromental but for hearing his technical genious its amazing he and chuck shine through

  • great video----Bo, Chuck and Elvis form the holy trinity of rock n roll !!!

  • I'm kind of with you except in the early 70s I saw a 50s revival where Chuck was the headliner and Ben E. king, the bgrou that did Yakety Yak and Bo were the warmups. Bo blew everybody off the stage with a 10 minute version of something he called Bo-Diddleyitis that jammed and rocked. That man is a master and you can get a sense of how and why with this clip. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • I'd say that its actually Bo, Chuck and Little Richard that form the Holy Trinity. Elvis is an early proponent and major influence, but he appropriated more so than innovated the sound the way little Richard did.

  • One of the greatest to ever live! May he rest in peace. Gonna miss him! Dude, you definately have a treasure here. Thanks for sharing!

  • This is unbelievable!!!!! Look how far ahead he still is/was!! I've never heard sounds like that out of a guitar!!

    thx for posting!!

  • AMAZING

  • Really great different approach from this originator of so much Rock n Roll...

  • Bo's 2 best are "Diddy Wah Diddy" and the supreme "Say! (Bossman)." but they are not on Y/T.

  • Oh My I LUV BO DIDDLEY

  • I never heard Bo play this pretty before. I'm learning a lot more about him since he died.

  • interesting use of percussive strums and harmonics

  • The man could rap, too!

  • This is a real fine treasure. I love it when they try new things! It takes a rare man to get that adventureous on guitar.

  • What year were these from

  • 1981

  • The King of the Beat
