My dad was kinda like a green beret, he was an alcoholic. He didn't sneak into countries and liberate people, but he would yell at the t.v. and call people commies. When he became sober, he would realize his life was probably a little worse off now. Kinda like a green beret... they go off to war and when they come back home or get out of the service, they realize what they did was a waste because the people at home were to dang lazy to stand up and fight for their liberty.

Ok the ideology seriously has to stop now. The war shouldn't be based on ideology or hypothetical situations, because everyday it is based on life or death. When the war is successful, we only hear it on the news for fifteen minutes. When we fail, men return home in body bags and corpses rain on the streets of New York. It doesn't matter how it is worded or what is done, the only thing that matters is seeking and destroying enemies of the US before they reach our homeland.

To clarify about what i mean about "wars of liberation": I believe that war is justified to defend my own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, and others who are too weak to protect themselves. I believe that we are still the liberatorsof the oppressed. I love my country for the ability to express myself in any fasion I desire, but i know that my freedoms are only secure as long as men and women in uniform defend them. I wish those same blessings are given to the world.

look, Iraq invaded kuwait, our allies, in the 90's. We had bad blood between eachother since. We defeated saddam, but left him in power because we didn't want to clean up the mess of regime change. Post 9/11, Saddam said he would help our enemies, believed in the death of the infidels, and told us to F*** ourselves. WE TOOK HIM OUT IN RESPONSE. Stop clinging to ideology, because preemptive or not, he was planning OUR deaths and we were in a position to stop him. the Iraq war made us safer.

Do you base your whole reality on hearsay and television or truth and fact? How do we know when we have won the war on terror? Actually neoconservatives are the liberal ones. True conservatism preaches about less government, less taxes, and less spending. How can you possibly have any of these things if your constantly looking for new enemies out there to go to war with?

They do. Congress has to vote on a declaration of war and it gives the president the authority to be the "Commander in Cheif" in the war. If congress doesnt want a war, they vote aganst it. In the end Congress has the power.

Refer to Article 1, Section 8, clause 11: congress has the power to "To declare war, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;"

That is also the problem with Tarp 1 & 2 and the nationalization of GM and Chrysler and the patriot act, etc. These things and powers are not granted to congress or the president in the constitution.

I'm not talking about that, im talking about war powers only. The president has broad powers over the military, and congress can shut it down if they choose to do so. Congress has the ability to check and balence the prez whenever it chooses. If you don't like policy, call ur congressman and change it, but don't tell me that the system is not being followed because that is simply NOT true. If u don't like policy, contact ur congressmen and reverse it or elect new officials.

We didn't reallly preemptify anything, it took the USS Cole to be bombed, a US Embassy to be destroyed, and 2 massive skyscrapers to be destroyed in a major US metropolis before we even fought this already half hearted "undeclared war". How many other US targets have to be destroyed and thousands of US lives have to be lost until this "illegal war" is fought? But then again that probably explains why Ron Paul has to run as a GOP candidate for his house seat because he'll never get anywhere if he was a member of the libertarian party.
