Neo cons have given conservatives a bad name everywhere! I'm all for defending our nation, Afghanistan was a worthy cause but Iraq was completely illogical and based on bad intel. And this is coming from a US soldier!
@SendARope Thats simply not true any more than it would be to say that conservatives can be very narrowly defined as individualists. Theirs a lot of gray area in everything.
@SendARope O I agree with that 100%. I think neoconservatism is ultimately a modern-day form of fascism. It appeals to the ignorant mass of electorate that can think of nothing but "USA number 1!" and other mindless pseudo-patriotic bullshit, like buying 50 miniature flags, and saying you're either with us or with the terrorists. I think neoconservatism ought to be called psuedoconservatism.
That was not only boring and unfunny... but quite painful and embarrassing to watch. Nowhere within was there contained a cogent argument against neoconservatism, nor was there a joke. It was just a political point made in a video masquerading as a spoof in the hopes people would watch.
My dad was kinda like a green beret, he was an alcoholic. He didn't sneak into countries and liberate people, but he would yell at the t.v. and call people commies. When he became sober, he would realize his life was probably a little worse off now. Kinda like a green beret... they go off to war and when they come back home or get out of the service, they realize what they did was a waste because the people at home were to dang lazy to stand up and fight for their liberty.
In response to the rising threat of the seperatist, I will now create a grand army of the republic. When the war is over, I will give my extra powers back, I swear(wink wink).
And just think, all those times our green berets were over seas shoveling crap out of other peoples yard, we didn't notice that it was all getting thrown in to our backyard. So maybe one of these days somebody else's green berets will come and liberate us because people were too darn stupid to watch who they vote for.
Ok the ideology seriously has to stop now. The war shouldn't be based on ideology or hypothetical situations, because everyday it is based on life or death. When the war is successful, we only hear it on the news for fifteen minutes. When we fail, men return home in body bags and corpses rain on the streets of New York. It doesn't matter how it is worded or what is done, the only thing that matters is seeking and destroying enemies of the US before they reach our homeland.
Das ist Gut! Vee Must protect the Fazerland...Oh I mean the Homeland...Since when was our great nation the "homeland"? Only since neo conservatives came along with Adolf's playbook. It would almost be funny the number of Neo Con quotes that you have given me over the last few days...but for the fact that you believe what your saying. Our country is being destroyed from within by run away spending and communist ideals that were started under GW's NEOconservative administration and handed off to O
the comparision to the president bringing to justice the men who killed thousands of innocent civilians, and the effort to prevent it's reoccurance to the Nazi party is insulting and insane. It is the homeland becaus I live here. That "Neocon" idea of wars of liberation is the motto of the US Green berets, which is "liberate the oppressed". I know because my father wore that uniform. Under his service he was sent around the world fufilling that mission. You are a misguided far-right guy.
To clarify about what i mean about "wars of liberation": I believe that war is justified to defend my own life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, and others who are too weak to protect themselves. I believe that we are still the liberatorsof the oppressed. I love my country for the ability to express myself in any fasion I desire, but i know that my freedoms are only secure as long as men and women in uniform defend them. I wish those same blessings are given to the world.
Don't waste your breathe anymore man. You are arguing with people who think George Bush and the US government allied with the illuminati destroyed the towers on 9/11. (Just wondering, how can the government who can't even effectively run the post office secretly be behind 9/11? Just wondering). These people are conspiracy theorists living in La La Land or they people who are promoting lies to promote whatever agenda they have. Maybe us Neocons will have to bring preemptive action LOL!
@ped05fsu Some people question the government's story behind 911. Some people ask for facts and evidence. Some people ask for lawful declarations of war. Some people strive to retain what little liberty is left in this country. Others... well... they just do what they are told.
If you would rather have thousands of Americans die before we eliminate a threat, then i respect your position, as long as they get you instead of me first.
mabey you should wise up before then, because many of our enemies could give a rats ass about diplomacy, and want to kill you. They want you dead and there are 100,000 neocons that will stop them before they can. If we waited after an attack and for congress to declare war everytime we had a threat, America wouldn't exist anymore.
Sure Saddam was a bg but that's not why we supposedly went to "war" with them.
Personally I think we should have nuked mecca and Medina but that was in Saudi Arabia...you know where 18 of the hijakers were from...but being that our "war on terror" is about as serious as our "war on drugs" and our "war on crime" it's no surprise we didn't do that.
look, Iraq invaded kuwait, our allies, in the 90's. We had bad blood between eachother since. We defeated saddam, but left him in power because we didn't want to clean up the mess of regime change. Post 9/11, Saddam said he would help our enemies, believed in the death of the infidels, and told us to F*** ourselves. WE TOOK HIM OUT IN RESPONSE. Stop clinging to ideology, because preemptive or not, he was planning OUR deaths and we were in a position to stop him. the Iraq war made us safer.
@dev21a Can you explain who the enemy is in detail with the evidence against them? Are we talking about nations or individuals? Do you base your whole reality on hearsay and television or truth and fact? How do we know when we have won the war on terror? Who has won the war when all our liberties are gone for safety from terrorists laws? Didn't the terrorists want to kill us for our freedoms? So is the government trying to eliminate that problem by eliminating our freedoms?
Actually neoconservatives are the liberal ones. True conservatism preaches about less government, less taxes, and less spending. How can you possibly have any of these things if your constantly looking for new enemies out there to go to war with?
Im fine with people being pacifist, but to be against going to war with vicious, murdering dicators is unacceptable to me.
I, a conservitave, believe that we must liberate the oppressed beyond our borders and believe that they have the same inalianable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is our obligation as a free people to aid them.
They do. Congress has to vote on a declaration of war and it gives the president the authority to be the "Commander in Cheif" in the war. If congress doesnt want a war, they vote aganst it. In the end Congress has the power.
Refer to Article 1, Section 8, clause 11: congress has the power to "To declare war, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;"
Well if congress has a problem with it, they'll pull the plug. If not they will keep funding it. Whatever you want to call it, it's still a "War" in iraq.
It's not constitutional unless they declare war. They can play all the games they want but that's a fact. That is also the problem with Tarp 1 & 2 and the nationalization of GM and Chrysler and the patriot act, etc. These things and powers are not granted to congress or the president in the constitution.
I'm not talking about that, im talking about war powers only. The president has broad powers over the military, and congress can shut it down if they choose to do so. Congress has the ability to check and balence the prez whenever it chooses. If you don't like policy, call ur congressman and change it, but don't tell me that the system is not being followed because that is simply NOT true. If u don't like policy, contact ur congressmen and reverse it or elect new officials.
We didn't reallly preemptify anything, it took the USS Cole to be bombed, a US Embassy to be destroyed, and 2 massive skyscrapers to be destroyed in a major US metropolis before we even fought this already half hearted "undeclared war". How many other US targets have to be destroyed and thousands of US lives have to be lost until this "illegal war" is fought? America is a weak divided nation that will dissolve before the century is over unless you get out of your ideology and Fight!
@dev21a You obviously don't undertsand domestic disputes and you would be the idiot that goes to rescue a woman being beaten by her husband only to be stabbed in the back by his wife for hitting her husband. Why don't you mind your own business.... people who need your help will ask for it.... until then don't make assumptions. It just makes an ass out of u and me.
Haha, this is pretty good. Too many times do I see neo-cons claiming to be conservatives. I've been an independent all my life, supported both conservative and liberal views... it's the neo-cons that bug me.
Where in the US constitution do the politicians have the authority to wage wars of liberation?
Answer: It doesn't. You might make the case that we have the power of preemption from an oncoming attack but not war so we can bring people liberty. That is neo-conservatism.
No I'm quite sure my question is a better one because 1, the so called "neocons" you hate so much would just simply go back to being conservative democrats thus incresing the voter base of the democratic party 2, you ron paul guys only make up 3% of the overall electoral voter base 3, the difference between you and a bush supporter in a liberal's eyes is nothing, 4, without the "neocons" the gop and conservatives won't even win a pie eating contest let alone an election.
and the neocons win elections? last time i checked, due to them the GOP doesn't have a majority in neither the congress or senate and obama is in office. lol
that's because they lied to the American people in 06 telling them that they were going to end the war in Iraq and the GOP ran their most moderate republican in 08. But then again that probably explains why Ron Paul has to run as a GOP candidate for his house seat because he'll never get anywhere if he was a member of the libertarian party. But yeah they (the "neocons") didn't control congress for the past 14 years and didn't control the presidency for the last 8.
Neo cons have given conservatives a bad name everywhere! I'm all for defending our nation, Afghanistan was a worthy cause but Iraq was completely illogical and based on bad intel. And this is coming from a US soldier!
