  • Nice video, great underwater footage! I have 2 Mexican Pangas and we leave from Punta Lobos, Todos Santos, Baja Cal. Sur. The dangers do exist but staying at a distance will always give you the better photos/movies. We have had many whales approach our boat(motor off) and come along side where my guests and I have had the life time experience of touching them before swimming away. After the "touch and tell" they often breach, my belief is because they can and they feel no threat from us.

  • Woah, meeting a mother and her calf might be dangerous, since I hear that mommy whales are really, really defensive when pregnant. Not so sure when the baby's already out, though :P

  • killer whale!!!! run, I mean, swim for your life!!!

  • wow, what a nice video.......thanks for it

  • The water is soo blue!! Wow, i miss the ocean so much. Sucks living in the prairies :P

  • lol

  • I read a while back that Tonga said, the first Tiger Shark attack on the Whale watchers and they would shut the snorkeling Whale tourist industry down. There was one close call a while back...

  • wooooo my hometown!! =)

    malolelei! :)

  • Cool!!! Someday I will definitely go to your hometown. Welcome me. :D

  • no way

  • Why not?

  • no.....just...no......

  • That's right. Represent.

  • Wooooow, you're so lucky to finally get to see one! I've only seen the tops of them (in Fiji) and as soon as I got in the water, off they went! I'd love to swim with a whale!!! Thanks for sharing this!

  • i can feel the sea sick.. lol

  • Belugas are very curious and playful. I've seen a lot in kayak, many times. Following us, even playing with the rudder. One of my dad's client said one followed him on 24 kms !

  • showoff ¬¬

  • You haven't been to as many places in the same time he has. And with his sponsor, he'll soon have been to more places than however much you say you have went to.

  • I could never swim with a whale. I think they are beatiful creatures but they are just too big.

  • Lets hope this whale never gives you a slap with its tail! You would be the first man in orbit without a rocket!

  • I lol'd so hard :D

  • Cool

  • aww nice :3

  • Oh shit, wrong camera! KKRRZZT

  • Wish I were you at the end.

  • You're afraid of tiny crabs and spiders but you dive with these bloody 60 tons submarines!!! You ARE nuts Matt!

Hello from Russia! If you're ever in Siberia (how was the train btw?), we'll dance with you!

    Stay cool!

  • really cool, but got me motion sick!

  • dude, your amazing.

    I've only been to Nicaragua

for missions trips. It was amazing

    though! LOVE YOU

  • or maybe a new kind of keyboard with massive keys or different whale sounds or maybe not depending on if the whale has a desk

  • Well, they'd have to use a PC, surely? They couldn't have laptops; they don't have laps!

  • Haha, just realised that it looks like it's taken me two months to think of a response!

  • or maybe they do 0.o

  • True; what is a lap, anyway? :S

  • we will never know...... until one of us looks in a dictionary or googles it

  • "The front area from the waist to the knees of a seated person."

Well that was fairly concise, now we need to know if whales can use seats... which may in turn lead to knowing if they have access to desks! We may be on to something!

  • AHA! we could be waleologists so do u think a whale could sit down?

  • Possibly, where on a whale is it's bottom?

  • erm at the back? hmmm it could be the blowhole

  • I wonder if, somewhere, there is a YouTube for Whales, with a video called Teasing Humans in Tonga...

  • ya never know,,,,, hopefully so but how would they leave a comment?

wale noises are hard to type

  • And how would they type? The flippers are out of the line of vision... and massive.

Mind you, should we assume that they use keyboards? Maybe they have touch screens.

  • Thank you all for this epic conversation. This made my day, week, month xD

  • LMAO.

    I totally agree with "OMGWherezDaMilk".

Your conversation has made my day.

    Jokers..

  • haha poor matt.. but oh well, at least you found 1

  • Animals are always very defensive if there is a calf of them included, i guess. Especially mother animals. It's a shame - no Matt underwater-dancing with an whale. :(

  • erghh id be soooo sccarredd to go in the ocean!!!!!!!!!!!! >:

  • TONGA!!! LOL HEY GOOD SHOTS!!!

  • I don't think the whales liked you XD At least you got one in the end!

    SMART WHALE haha

  • Whales rocks... thsy are big and.... whales...

and also YOURE VIDEOS ARE THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!!!

  • When u see the tale of the whale, it's too late because she dives...

  • TAIL

  • is that "woo"ing sound from the whales? or just the camera in water?

  • i believe it was just the camera

  • ive done this with 12 years old. It was AMAZING

  • if it's a mother and calf, then you have no chance of getting near it!

  • u start to gt the feeling ur being toyed with lol

    new dancin vid is class

  • Oh my,such beautiful animals... Great video.

  • It's so funny that you wrote that card, because halfway through that's EXACTLY what I said, "That whale is having a great time toying with him!"

  • Why is that all you can show?

  • More fun video.

  • the view looks beautiful

  • mommy how are whales made?

  • Wow that's so cool!

I love the comments he put in...

  • Haha, I was hoping that you would ride it like it was at the rodeo XD I love animals...but I always had the tiny hope XD

  • Tonga is Beautiful people should go their i herd their people it was a friendly island.

  • Man, I don't think I could ever do it. I have such an irrational fear of both the open ocean and extremely large animals--even when they're gentle ones. More power to ya, man.

  • aww too bad u didnt make it into the water in time. what if he ate you?> do whales ever in the history eat men? like even on accident like it was scooping up some krill and opps! that was a man. do you think it would spit the man back out? lol any way beautiful video!

  • lol killer whales maybe...but i think whales that scoop up krill don't have a big enough opening to swallow a man. they got those millions of hair like things for filtering out non-krill stuff.

  • Whales in general don't attack humans. And your right, baleen whales, the large ones that eat krill, usually don't have throat openings large enough to swallow more than a big melon. I have in fact heard of a humpback whale accidentally closing it's mouth on a bird. The whale opened up it's mouth again and the bird flew out perfectly unharmed.

  • Actually, there have never been any cases of Orcas attacking somebody in the wild. Captive ones, yes, there have been some cases. But wild ones, no.

  • or i could be just plain wrong

  • man i miss tonga now, i wanna go back

  • you have seen so much beauty of this great planet. glad you can share it with us. :)

  • You have to obviously get in the water extremely quickly. not wait around for a minute. "Get ready when i say..." --5 min later--- "the moment we get in the water...'

  • You think he would've lost some weight travelling around the world...

  • At Maxzhou1: Haha, thats so funny I almost laughed, hahaha! Asshole. -.-

  • wow , you are my hero ..

i have always wanted to swim with whales , since i was a little girl .

    that was amazing.

  • is he really your hero for swimming within 100 feet of a whale? you must have low standards

  • omg that blue blue water

  • JUNE 21st ! ! ! it will be like my birthday.

  • Funasenbaer; If June 21st will be like your birthday,, when is your birthday?

  • 25th january O,o.. u lol ^^

  • If you think whales are big and hard to play with you should try having a game with the tongan rugby team!

  • i buy sprite gum.

  • good for you..

  • you're special

  • You're the man, Matt!

    never stop!

  • THE WATER IS SOOOO

    BLUEE

  • I wanna travel as much as you matt I do travel a lot but this is ..

    VERY extreme

    and I'm very jealous

  • hum wait. was that an orca? don't they like... eat people?

  • that wasn't an orca:P just a big whale but an orca looks like free willy:P

  • Whales don't eat humans. Orca's do eat seals and other fish I believe. But trust me, the biggest sea creatures excisting, like the Blue Whale, only eats krill! It's like plankton. Weird if you think about that they are endagered by humans and global warming, but that they are so huge and peaceful.

  • I hear the reason Whale's do eat krill is because their throat is only the size of a grape at best. I am not sure if that is true, but its one of the trivial facts that I know, but have no memory of where I learned it.

  • no, they eat krill because it's so abundant. but due to the changing ocean conditions (they are changing regardless of what it's from) there could be a dying out of krill...but who can tell the future? I'm no expert, but that's my prediction. BTW, I <3 whales. ^.^

  • There has never been any cases of a wild Orca attacking sombody. But there have been some cases of captive Orcas attacking their trainer.

  • Man I'm sick of my boring life.. good vid though lol

  • the water looks so beautiful!

    so blue

  • you know we all want to break out of this box called north amercia and explore the world..... it makes you think we want to get out when so many people want to get in [we all want to see thes places but i feel bad for the people have to live in these places in such provity] you keep going man keep going

  • I guess but what if we just left them alone?

  • you tease!!!

  • It looked like a humpback Whale. I reconize the tail.

  • why did you have to stop it??

  • I don't think there's any harm in whalewatching. If one of those guys doesn't like it he'll just smash your boat.

  • I can't even begin to describe how stupid that comment was.

  • its the Title of the vid that i love most..

it made me imagine you swimming along side the whale, poking it repeatedly.

  • didnt u just upload this

  • that must have been awesome. I kept thinking if it actually did get close to you, it would be scary because they are so massive. Cool vid, thanks for sharing.

  • u may have 1st comment, but chances are it won't last long .. dunno what's going on .. he's deleted and reposted vids a number of times

  • Yes, I was first to post comments on this same video either *did not say 1st* Maybe he changed audio?

  • Dunno, but I'm getting a lot of down thumbs just for making an observation.

    Shesh, the critics are harsh.

  • Probably kids playing. No accountability for the rating system.

  • nobody cares about this, you can stop making comments like that
