  • Do you give your dogs the pieces all raw ? Are they on a dry food diet ?

  • @chuffness Raw and they do get dry food but not exclusively.

  • I have a question was the free range rabbit gamey or was there a difference.

  • @RabbitsNWatermelons I did not notice a difference in flavor but I marinate them in most of my recipes. They are definitely a little smaller and less fatty though.

  • @KainanRa isnt that illegal to raise then kill rabbits

  • @Shanenocito98 Why would it be illegal?

  • @Shanenocito98 No way dude.

  • Is it okay if I Subsrcibe? Haha GREAT JOB bro keep up the good work and I have a question if I want to trap rabbits what bait would you recommend?

  • @youngstunner96 Im not sure. I would probably just set at choke points and not worry about bait. If I did use bait maybe some apples.

  • @youngstunner96 green wheat.

  • Thanks for posting thesevideos! With all the extreemists out there this takes courage. It sure looks like you take good care of your animals, as well as your family. By doing this you are really helping out the community! Blessings to you and yours!

  • num numy/muums :) i love eat meat :D

  • I really wanted to try rabbit so i went to Wegmans market and picked up a whole one. I'm pretty familiar with cutting up turkey, pork and chicken, so i pulled up a few videos for some tips... this video, by far is the best one for demonstrating how to butcher a dressed rabbit. Thanks so much for posting!!!

  • @ptpetroc Awesome glad you found it useful. Cool that you could buy some rabbit at the market.

  • I live in Jupiter farms,Fl I have a lot of cottontail rabbits and marsh rabbits and I hunt them in my front yard and damn r they good

  • the ending makes me drool

  • how can you tell a chicken thigh from a rabbit thigh? =O

  • Excellent info bro, thank you

  • @LowBuckPrepper No Problem glad you liked it. Remember though its just the way i do it and there may be better ways.

  • are house but who knows but I Like bigger rabbits. but thank you for the video i have needed help with the butchering because i didn't know how to cut up the meat but you showed me how in this video thanks and nice vid.

  • i haven't figured a name for the buck yet he is only 2 months and 3 weeks old so he hasn't named him self. but he has become the most sweetest rabbit he will let me do anything to him roll him on his back play with his feet and everything He hasn't gotten use to the toys i have for him to play with but he will i put apen just like the one you have for him to play in for a while safely so the hawks don't get him we have red tail hawks where we live i think there is a nest somewhere around.

  • I have over 100 dollars invested in these three rabbits i bought my 11 month old female sandy/carmel flemish giant at 8 months old she was bred at 9 months old but she lost her first litter but it was my fault do to stressing her out the first day. but she was rebred to the same buck that i bred her to the first time. but this time i will leave her alone. but she has become a reall sweet rabbit. I have 2 does and 1 buck 2 steel greys and storm the sandy/carmel flemish giant.

  • you made me so hungry my best friend who was my next door neighbor turned me on to rabbit stew i am going to boil the meat off the bone for however long it takes then make a broth out of the juice. You also have anice setup for your rabbits my rabbits are to big to fit into thoughs cages. i raise flemish giants i know they are bigger boned but I love to raise flemish giants and i thought what theheck i can eat one of the rabbits aswell sense i know what goes in them.

  • What breed of rabbits do you prefer for meat?

  • this might be a dumb question, but do you cook the rabbit meat and organs that you give to the dogs?

  • Thank you so much for this. Very useful. I hope to have the chance to try it out in the next week or so.

  • Once it's all clean and chopped up how you like soak in ice water for 5-10 mins, then soak over night in milk. It'll look like cooked chicken in the morning and helps it stay nice and tender. If it was a wild bunny it'll take the game out of it too

  • Have you tried just leaving all that front part together (after removing arms) And just BBQing? Little BBQ'd ribs. Sounds like a good idea. I am still learning now...

  • Is rabbit tender when prepared on the grill? Looks delicious. I'm thinking about making a stew or something with rabbit very soon.

  • @mrwiggles2 Yep. As long as it is cooked right it can stay tender.

  • just watched a 5 1/2 minute spanish language video about deboning a rabbit. posted by tulowulo. he pulled all of the bones out leaving the carcass intact so that it could be rolled stuffed and tied like a roast. looked like an interesting alternative to pan frying or grilling.

  • Great video, My family and I just recently started raising rabbits, 3 does 1 male Rex breed. Had the first litter about 3 weeks ago, had 10 but lost 1, Their all doing great. How soon can they be seperated from mother? at what age do you butcher?

  • Just butchered my first 3 today, going by this video. It was pretty straight forward, and rather easy. Thanks for the tutorial. Now, just to eat it. I have it freezing right now though.

  • @CzDogs Thats great. Glad the video was useful..

  • @KainanRa

how many times a month do you eat rabbit?

  • thanks for all the butchering videos, my dumbass friend shot a chipmunk thanks to you I butchered it and made him eat it

  • I watched your vid on the sparrow trap, liked it but lost it> I was going to sub, But subbed today... GREAT STUFF ! ! !

  • @mainbearing68 Thanks for watching and subbing.

  • @KainanRa what is the difference between a free ranged rabbit and a penned rabbit do you still feed them some pellets or just let them eat the grass wouldn't they loose weight if they just ate the grass and nothing else. because i was thinking of raising them just on some grass and some vegtables. but i will probably stick with the pellet feeding and hay and vegie's but what do you think is it different then free rangeing.

  • Another awesome video... GREAT..GREAT..Job.Was there a size difference in the two?

  • @JRSKICK1 I didnt weigh them but they looked the same to me. There was just a little less fat on the grass fed one. The six I have in my rabbit tractor are growing but dont seem to as meaty as I would like so I am now adding food to see where they start filling out.

  • @JRSKICK1 Do you have to remove the silverskin on the legs?

  • @A4e82bad No, but remember a little extra work removing some of it will help with the quality of taste and tenderness..

  • Thank you

  • hey nice video thanks for posting i wonder how many rabbits that you raise and harvest in a year do you eat them regulary like daily??

  • @TheWildNorth No we have it about once a week. The rest I sell or give away.

  • I just got 2 nz does, 1 Chinchilla and one b/w spotted <i dont know the breed, afew months ago I bought 2 mix rabbits like 7 pound now, I am going to practice How to Quarter A Rabbit with them tomorrow your BBQ looks delicious!!!

  • @schwarzehexebruja Awesome. Im glad to see sooo many people starting rabbits.

  • good job love the vids keep it coming ....

  • Another great video man.

I've got a dozen to dispatch and butcher over the next few weeks and we're having delicious BBQ rabbit tomorrow for dinner.

    Life is good!

  • do you know of any diagrams for where to make the cuts at all

  • with waht do you marinate your rabbit in the barbacue?

  • @youtubsuxfv garlic herb seasoning and teriyaki

  • why do you take off the "silver skin"?

  • How did you get the seeds from the radishes?

  • You need a good fillet knife!

  • awesome video! helped me a lot!

  • I have always loved hunting rabbit but now because of you I raise them. I think they taste much better than wild ones. I have found one problem though. I have trouble dispatching them. I know that sounds silly because it doesn't bother me to hunt them. lol Thank you for you videos.

  • @Den0Q Yep dispatching your own meat you raised is a lot more personal than even hunting. Its not silly at all. Its shows you have respect for the life of the rabbit. Most people buy their meat from the store and dont care how it was raised or killed or even that it was alive at all.

  • @KainanRa We are having issues with this as well. my family refuses to eat any of them. So for now we are selling the babies at auction. The few that have died have done so on their own. We will not eat that meat as I still do not know what killed them. But I did keep the furs from them and practiced cutting them up.

  • Excellent Job! I sometimes tend to be lazy and do a quick job.... although I let nothing goes to waste... I put anything left on the bones in a pot and boil the meat off for "Rabbit-n-Rice". Umm Umm Good!

  • Mmm, mmm, MMMM! If you were close, I'd pay you to cook a rabbit dinner for me!

I pity the sicko's who are unable or unwilling to kill their own meat. Do more productive things than responding to the vegetarian trolls. Please! Like make a video of your cooked rabbit! Yummy!

In these uncertain economic times, they get what they deserve if they don't prepare.

P.S. Hoping to raise meat bunnies soon. Not sure buying them when the temps are average 102 or more daily is a good idea.

  • what are you going to do with big momma?? in another video u said u may not use her for kits anymore, are you going to sel her butcher her or keep her as a pet?

  • @allieco95 Not sure. She would make a terrible pet as she is one of the grumpiest rabbits I have. I did not get here as a bunny so she was very hand shy when I got her. I try to handle her as little as possible because she does not like it. Feeding her is expensive and I dont have cage space so I will most likely butcher her.

  • @KainanRa You try keeping her fat and everything to keep healthy babies, wouldnt there be more nasty fat then meat?

  • @allieco95 I dont keep any of my rabbits fat. I keep them at a healthy weight. Overweight rabbits have health issues. Older rabbits do have more fat than the young fryer size and the meat is usually tougher. There are lots of recipes for stews and soups that are great for older rabbits.

  • @KainanRa kk enjoy ur yummy stew(:

  • @KainanRa About how long does it take one of your NZ rabbits to equal 5 lbs?

  • @mrtjones4326 Around 12 weeks

  • Oh the lack of Humanity...Dont you have nightmares at night of that poor fluffy little rabbit on your backyard that you killed and ate?? you are a horrible human being...how can you live with yourself

  • @ReinaValera1865 Ah the first psycho. I find it amazing that freaks like you put humans so far above the natural world. Would you ask a coyote how it lives with itself for eating a rabbit? No because its natural. So it is with humans. Humans have been hunting and farming for milenia. Then comes ignorant people like you that feel they are above nature and should no longer be carnivores. I live with myself just fine with a belly full of tasty rabbit. It served a purpose in life unlike you.

  • @KainanRa LOL before the fall of adam and eve humans and animals were all vegetarian...and it will be like that again...it just looks very gory to see an animal killed and skinned...i'm a city slicker...i'm used to the burgers and chicken mcnugets

  • @ReinaValera1865 If you want to be sick, check out "Food, Inc." or any number of other good documentaries that show just how the cattle and chickens your burgers and chicken mcnuggets come from are treated before they get to you to eat them. Cattle packed together in pens with excrement piled up past their knees, and chickens that can't walk packed into huge sheds. These rabbits are treated so much more humanely.

  • @ReinaValera1865 people eat meat that is a fact if you go to the store and bye meat thats still an animal the fact he does it at home means that they live in good conditions and don't suffer and it saves money keep it up kainanra good job feeding your family

  • @ReinaValera1865 rabbits are nice and cuddly they make good pets and their meat and fur will feed you and cloth you. People that raise their own meat animals take care of them and love them. They usually have a good life and are happy animals. They live a good life. And they are respected. they are feed and handled and pet. Until the moment they are killed.

  • @ReinaValera1865 Lack of humanity? Tell me, what's so HUMAN about an animal?? Biology 101. We are not animals, but in Genesis 9:3 God states "Every moving thing that liveth shall be MEAT (literal spelling, KJV) for you even as the green herb have I given you all things." So, as you can see, we are cleared by the Bible, God's Holy word to eat meat. You and I are created in the image of God, NOT ANIMALS, and neither were animals created in the image of God. Good day!

  • With a vegi and a potato, will 1 rabbit feed 4 people??

Great video!! A must know when shtf!!

  • @freedom4kaz One feeds my wife and I and our two small children with a little left over. If you were counting calories Im sure it would be enough for 4 people with a veggie and a starch.

  • wow, nice size. How old was it?

  • @joeytrahan That one was almost 16 weeks. I had been trying to sell them or I would normally butcher around 12 weeks.

  • My wife drys out the hind feet with salt, and makes them into key chains.

  • I like the tip on removing the sliver skin. That is always tough.

  • Do you age the meat in the fridge or just freeze or eat right away? Also do you find that BBQing the meat dries it out? Awesome video. Keep up the rabbit vids.

  • @goodgameme Fresh or frozen is how I have been eating it. I have not had a problem with it being too dry on the BBQ.

  • What do you do with the rest of the rabbit - the fur, head and feet?

  • @simplyhumanblog I have been saving the furs but the head and feet go in the garbage.

  • awesome stuff bud, thank you. My Starter rabbits were just born a few days ago by a friend of mine here on YT. Looking forward to getting them and starting the meat production!

  • @LowBuckPrepper Thats awesome cant wait to see the setup.

  • Ok, i understand. Thats nice and delicious eggs from own henns!! How much you have, and how long will they laying, before they get problemes to lay eggs?

  • You have a reason Why you dont have a rooster? How long or what time your henns maximum laying eggs?

  • @JENS60 Roosters are too loud and I live in a neighborhood. They should start laying one egg a day when they start laying.

  • you got me rethinking about rabbits

  • Also you hoped they start to lay then. What age are they? You have only henns, or some cocks? How long do They walked free???

  • @JENS60 They will be six months in Aug. They do not walk free the are in a movable chicken pen. No roosters.

  • You only breed rabbits, or do you breed more kind of animals?

  • @JENS60 I have a couple hens for eggs. They should start laying next month.

  • You never weight a rabbit before slaughter? Was it one of the rabbits you showed on the video in the beginning of this week?

  • @JENS60 No I do not normally weight them. Yes this was the brown rabbit from the earlier video.

  • great vid you made that look really easy LOL thanks for the info

  • LLooks very good. Good meat colour. Wenn you slaughtered that rabbit, and whats the weight? Do you alwsys make that job ?

  • @JENS60 I think it was around 6 lbs live weight.

  • Great video. Looks like you use alot of the animal.

  • @karl9x Thats the part we eat the rest gets trimmed up for the dogs. Very little is wasted.

  • good info thanks

  • hehe I'm too lazy to that far. ; ) If I'm gonna stew/roast it, I just do it in 3.(bottom of ribs and at the hip) I LOVE them just all 4 legs spread out, slow smoked on the bbq..I just flip it top to bottom..OH! Cajun spice from the store is KILLER on rabbit ; D I like those thin stomach pieces. I lightly fry'em in margerine and throw them in a fried egg/western, sandwich with cheese. SERIOUSLY yummy, I promise. ; ) *thumbs up*

  • We save up the belly meat and the strips from the back of the ribs to make rabbit sausage. Pretty good stuff with breakfast.

  • Awesome I have a video on how to dress a cottontail ill put out eventually. Good video! Ill give people this reference when I put mine out there.

  • Nice! Thx for the video, I will be processing some of my meat rabbits next weekend and will surely use this video for reference. Thx!

  • Thanks for the demo! It's been years since I've had to clean rabbit. the hubby don't hunt much any more and we can't have bunnies right now.

  • if i give rabbit meat to my dog, like the head, spins and any other scraps should i just give them it raw as soon as ive cut it?

  • @cianw10 I dont give them the bones. Just the raw meat scraps. Dogs can eat raw meat just fine.
