  • Can I ask why an area like this would have a 10 mph speed limit? Is it just for instances like this where wildlife is in danger or is there another factor?

  • what kind of train were you driving??

  • Hi NorfolkSouthern8830 We were on a freight train with 2 GP38's. That subdivision is 10 MPH.

    Thanks for watching my videos.

  • hi, channel 5

um, my name is moose 1 and 2.

so we were like... chillin and gettin loose on the side of the tracks one day .....then we saw a train comin toward us.. .... so we like um.... got up n tried to get off the tracks.. but there were no side walks to walk on.... so we just stayed our drunk asses on the tracks.... and continue running as fast ass we can. i dont kno y the camera guy keeps filming my ass as we walk. i think he likes our rump. "oh shit i drop my weed bro.

  • If i would want to become an engineer would i have to start out as a brakeman or could i start out as a conductor?

  • It looks like they are shopping for Christmas trees and getting the food for Christmastime and losing

  • why the BGM of all video of youtube is 009 sound system!

  • um? is any one here smart enough to relize that that wasnt willie nelson? seriously, wtf, that was the sadest thing iv ever seen, people cant even recongnize the good music anymore

  • i wanted to see it get crushed

  • Epic homo song bro.

  • u guys have a heart

  • STOP USING THIS SONG FOR EVERY GOD BLESSED VIDEO PEOPLE!

  • AT LEAST THEY KEEP RUNNING

  • great video

  • Lol thats funny.Never have I seen a moose in the tracks!!HAHAHAHA goodcatch!!!

  • hey moose, can you show me how to get to alberta? "follow me!"

  • What a smart idea to walk on a train track.

  • you should draw some CG ropes in so it appears they are pulling you like a pack of sled dogs.

  • Mooses?Moosii?Meese?Moosim?

  • As an Engineer, I've gotten so close to a cow once, that the hoofs were actually hitting the MU hoses while she was running,(and thats close)!! Time we slowed down, she got out of the way.

  • Hogger01, are there a lot of women that are engineers?

  • Comment removed

  • my god, best video I have seen in a long time. I drive a city bus in Surrey, sure wish I could have your job. My dad was an engineer for BC RAIL back in the good ole days, I wish I had of gotten on with CPR or BNSF hell even some of the regional short lines. But wife baby and house have me stuck now and I have to much senority now so prehaps one day when I retire from bus driving I will try to work for a railway:*( what railway do you work for if you don't mind me asking?

  • your obviously walking along the track not on a train!

  • @Ralphc1000 Yes!And He's 12 feet tall and has a large headlight on his head!!Trains DO wobble quite a bit.Especially when they move slowly.

  • where is this? alaska? canada?

  • this is where a paintball gun would be handy

  • die moverfokinbich

  • One moose, two meeces, surely?

  • i'm really surprised that anybody got that. :)

  • Just run um over

  • Dam they can be dumb! But it doesn't make them less tasty!

A slow cooked, bacon wrapped moose roast, is, OMG TFB!

  • mooses on the looses

  • 4 feet 8 1/2 inches standard gauge.

    Thanks for Watching!

  • move!!

  • what happend to the second one?

  • Comment removed

  • The second one ran ahead just out of sight. of the camera. Thanks for watching!

  • I did that one night in my car, came on them round a corner, hit the brakes, but they ran in the direction they were looking at and ran right into my car.

  • just the original sounds from the cam ok ?

  • animals are dumb

  • Geez, couldn't he just drive around them?

KIDDING! Don't send me "moron" messages.

I've heard that in northern BC, winter kills of moose can be horrendous, because of the high plowed snow banks. The moose find a gap at a road or creek and use the "easy trail" instead of bucking the drifts in the woods. Unfortunately, not all routes are slow hills, and the trains, with engineers yarding on the horn cord, can catch up to and run over dozens in one day.

  • thats true, In Alaska the trains kill hundreds during the winter time because of snow depth. Sucks but true.

  • @mrsmelzbad I've heard that they have tried to plow "exits" along the snow banks, but in the winter there is an awful lot of snowy mileage in BC and Alaska to maintain. I don't know what the answer might be...

  • yea with our train dont u mean cp or cn train or who ever owns the damn thing

  • lol

  • I'd so hang my head out of the train cockpit and yell:"LEARN TO RUN YOU IDIOTS" after which I'd proceed to sound the horn in a violent way.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAhAHAHAHAHa

  • que buen video amigo

  • lucky they didn't get splated

  • easy kill shot

  • This is why slow drivers are annoying.

  • Nice, spare the wild life.

  • lol where was that?

  • STUPID LLAMAS!!!

  • @penske13 lol

  • talk about playing chicken with a train

  • Should carry an air rifle n shoot em in the ass!

  • should have just gone around them!

  • lol

  • haha nice =)

  • noob

  • noob? do you even know what that word means?

im clearly an expert on trains. he should have just turned the wheel and gone around.

  • Bahahaha

  • ahha!

  • lol

  • speed limit stoped him from doing that..

  • @lejink That's the thing about tracks....

  • yea the animals arent ON the tracks, just pick one track and go around! the left one looks best to me

  • It's funny how the moose trot to the beat of the music.

    Definite win.

  • Hi general.

I was standing on the front "walk-way" (platform) of the locomotive moving at 10 mph. Why would I take the time to film my train when I have 2 moose running in front of it. It dosn't happen very often & they were in no danger of being run over.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • should of ran it down

    :)

  • The train slowed to the speed of the moose.

  • No, the train slowed because it's a switch area where railspeed is governed to 10mph.

  • Well, I sorta ment the moose were walking at 10mph, the same speed as the train's leading unit.

  • I would've stepped on the gas (whatever) and finish those dumb animals.

  • @Svittidiu: I hope you live far away from train tracks; karma's a bitch.

  • I don't think there's such a thing as karma.

  • its a name....

  • wow... its ot like he's going to be running down the tracks infront of a train.

  • well i hope english isnt your first language... if the train isnt enough reason for them to move, what makes you think a rock will do anything?

  • this is a situation where a bottle of nos would come in handy.

  • Hogger, do freight trains slow down if they see animals on tracks?

  • Hi FullMetalRedfield, I have killed over a dozen moose with freight trains. There was nothing I could do at 40 MPH except blow the whistle, ring the bell and turn off the headlights. Sometimes this helps, sometimes not. Hitting a moose with a train would be like hitting a dog with a car.

It's not a nice feeling, but were sitting ducks on a freight train. On slow track an engineer would try to slow down and give the animal a chance to get out of the way.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • Ouch, Hogger. Thanks for the response.

  • it says on the road again by willie nelson but that ain't right

  • It's dangerous to go alone! Take this. -hands a moose baby-

  • Just hit the gas,traindriver...lol.

  • Hey there hogger, i would love to know the name of the song in this movie!

I love this music, but we dont have such in our country :)

  • Hi intrapoint,

the original song was "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson. Due to copy rights, youtube was forced to pull that song off this video and gave me a list of songs that was "Ok" to use. This song that is playing now was the closest song that fit the video. I'm sorry I have no idea who is playing it or the name of the song.

    Thanks for watching

    Hogger01

  • do moose attack ppl ? u know like bulls or somting like that ? :P im from Europe so i dont know :P

  • they can if provoked but ushaully dont

  • They can and do sometimes. A moose can easily kill a person if it attacks, especially Bulls who can be very agressive.

  • Good video. 5*

  • how much do you get payed? and how did u get that job?

  • Really cool video; and job. I like the music. Depending on where you are you could radio some hunters and they could get some free meat!

  • these animals are frightened by the noise of the train?

  • some people just watch videos and never read the info on the right side

  • moose: i think its following us!

  • best job in the world, i envy you, i will think about this video as i sit in my office day after day till the end of my life.... lol

  • Hi YouTabacco, I've been doing this for 35 years and still enjoy going to work and do what I do. I count myself lucky that I decided to stay with it.

    Thanks for Watching!

    Hogger01

  • Hi! Have you ever had the experience of crushing and animals with that massive train?

  • Hi sindude300, yes I have run down many moose over my railroad career. It's not a very nice feeling. You try everything from ringing the bell, blowing the whistle & turning the headlights off. Sometimes these tricks work and sometimes they don't. Once I ran down 2 moose and you could hear the bones breaking under the fuel tank. Nothin you could do but watch.

    Thanks for Watching

    Hogger01

  • Oh wow!!! I kinda like hearing bones crack haha!!!

  • You'd find the answer out if you took 10 seconds to read the description. It's the third sentence. How could you miss it?

  • that was the speed limit for that set of tracks in that area. for reasons just like above, not to destroy animals lol

  • well i was close XD and yea i saw your other vids and knew u had a diseal but i didnt feel like changin the comment :] thx from M2Flamethrower

  • i love when this happens "there goes 2 moose setting the pace for a 2000 pound train" XD btw is that a steam engine or a diseal?

  • Hi M2Flamethrower, I was on a diesel engine. The moose were setting the pace for a 2500 ton train not 2000 pounds.

    Thanks for watching

    Hogger01

  • Hi Theredwings, yes this is standard gauge rail.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • Hey, that is a great sounding song. Who is doing It?

  • Hi 29Flaco28

I'm not sure who sings this song. I originally had "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson, Youtube is under pressure from record labels to take the songs off. I was forced to replace it with this song.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • LOL

  • trippy 3 miles

  • hope they got train insurince

  • you guys should have went 20 mph

  • Hah, you can't even write ''sure'' :D

  • Its a 10mph zone so it dont matter if they take their time, the train is doing 10mph

  • make a mechanical leg in front of the train to kick such asses)

  • Hi thibaulthapern, yes I'm the driver, my conductor is a qualified driver also. He was driving while I was taking the video.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • wow, ive never talked to a train driver in my life well nvm, ive been in a dash-9 and 487 on the narrow guage in new mexico but i was little and couldnt pull up a decent conversation

  • Hi foroke1

    Thanks for watching my videos!!

    Hogger01

  • "it was hard to keep the camera level swaying back and forth"

    Swaying???

  • also means swinging i think

  • Yeah but why are the doing that, are the tracks bend or something?

  • the plural to moose is moosen

  • COOL! Who let that moose loose..?

  • worlds first natural, getting chased by a train, funny

  • what happened to willies song they made you take it down?

  • Hi bigman95impala,

"On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson was the perfect song for this video. But Youtube was forced to delete it.

You'd think record companies wouldn't mind having there songs as sound tracks to videos. Maybe someone would hear it on here and go out and buy it.

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • yes it was.

infact its been a few months since I heard the song and came back to this very title not only for the vid but for the good quality song you had on here, sorry they took it off what a crock of BS

    anywho take care nice vid

  • Nice vid!

  • Hogger, that was great! I did this on a rural road on my way to work at the hospital at 03:00 AM. The moose pretty much owned the road for a half mile and I was just along for the ride, watching his backside. Ah, Nature!

  • its gota be pretty cool bein a long distance train driver or what have you

  • probably extremely boring actually

  • well yeah after a while but hey easy job

  • easy job? obviously youve never seen a day on a railroad

  • hi hogger,

thanks for that video upload. I just had a couple of questions. what is the top speed of these trains? also if there are several engines hooked up (like 3 or 4), will the train be able to pick up more speed?

  • Hi, 10 mph is the speed of this branchline because of track conditions.

Heavy tonnage trains will have more power to get over the road. If you have more tonnage than your locomotives can handle up a controlling grade, then we usually set off cars to get under tonage to make the hill. hope this answers your question.

    Thanks for watching!!

    hogger01

  • hogger01, im just wondering. how do trains hit something like a moose or a cow and not get deraild. they all seem to go under the train. im just wondering

    COLmegoCOLma

  • cows are about 600 ish pounds and trains are how much? 100k+?

  • has nothing to do whit what i asked. i asked how does a train not get "DERAILED" not how much a cow weighs.

  • Well, it's a partial answer to your question. The weight of the locomotive keeps it on the tracks as the animals are pretty lightweight. I'd assume the loco bogies wouldn't lift as they weigh plenty, but simply mince the unfortunate animal.

  • locomotives range from 200k to 240k

  • Ha, reminds me of Rut and Tuque, 2moose from the kids movie Brother Bear 5*

  • whats a branchline?

  • Hi Boomboom, A branchline is a feeder line to the mainline

    Thanks for watching!

    Hogger01

  • a branch line is low tonnage, low speed main line track. any where between just a couple of miles to a few hundred miles long. hope that answers the ?.

  • I liked this music, what her name ? Greetings from Brazil ! Sorry my bad english.

  • how come it was only 10 mph through there

  • Hi Hockeymonkey, It's 10mph because of track conditions. It's a branchline 40 miles long.

    Thanks for watching

    Hogger01
