It's a front. He pretends he's mad at the sound guy, when he told him to screw up the sound on purpose bcause Ed is too wasted to play. They can't/wont even get a clean sound in the good arenas. They're too sloppy. Why didn't they release a live album after the reunion tour? Because it probably sounded like crap. I would have bought it, the setlist rocked. They did sound good on OU812 when I was in the 20th row, but there's not much of a chance to get bad sound from that seat.

Like alot of guitar players out there, I used to idolize EVH when I was way younger...only ever managed to see them live with Sammy when they were touring for their 2nd Greatest Hits album....complete slop and a let down was the only thing going on in my head when I got home. Ed's tone was disappointing and it will forever bother me that he'll never play Eruption straight thru.

Eddie could be doing it old school with a floor monitor rather than ear pieces. If so, and his monitor is out, it's like flying blind on stage when your stage mix is gone. Been there and it's f'ing frustrating and damn near next to impossible to play in such a large venue. It's like playing in an echo chamber.

I saw van halen in 08 or 09, don't remember. It was the worst sound I have ever heard in my 20 years of going to concerts. Their sound engineer should have been fired. I've seen VH 3 times, my first on Jump tour in Baton Rouge, LA it was great. Their latest for me was the worst sounding concert I've ever been to. And no, its not because I was older.

No excuse for any of this behavior or the sound problems for that matter. I saw a few dates of this tour and the band sucked BIGTIME! Bunch of coke fueled egotists who are living on their past. No excuse for sound/monitor problems, they have plenty of money to hire the right people if they choose to. They obviously don't care enough. Contrast VH with a band like AC/DC, pure professionals even in their 60's and never a glitch in their show. They are also way louder and much harder to mix than VH.
