  • right rap

  • for 1600 dollars u get:O:O A cupholder.... Mohahaha, belive it or not mohaha, :D

  • 20 people disliked this video because they are old people.

  • Just another great lotus. This car in British racing green looks AWESOME! I have a question to ask, has lotus ever made a bad car? The only one that comes to my mind is the Elan from the 1990s with its isuzu engine and FWD chassis.

  • @DualofChaos

The Lotus Excel from the 80s was pretty ugly and didn't sell and the current Lotus Europa S (as far as I know) doesn't sell very well either.

There also was the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220 which is basically a Lotus Elise with an ugly body and a GM engine.

None of these are really bad but they aren't good either.

  • I think i would rather have a motorcycle... I will take a KTM 990 smt thank you very much. About the same level of comfort and usability, but much more fun for about 1/6 the price.

  • Actually, I think the KTM 990 has optional cargo containers that give it more storage space than the elise, and still looks bitchin.

  • forget the cup holder. the old elises didnt even have carpets or any insulation.

  • a lot of people are kinda ragging on the car because a cupholder is a new feature, but this is a 'pure' sports car. this car isnt made to be a daily driver, so itll most likely be a sunday car that the owner wouldnt want to drink/eat in, either.

  • cupholders are overrated. just jam drinks in the part by the seatbelt clamp an seat. thats what i do

  • this car it seems verry balanced, i think its easy to drive

  • @n33dw33d3333 It actually is an easy car to drive. It's more prone to understeer than it is to oversteer unlike say the more balanced Evora.

  • hmmm... i could really do without the carpeting and insulation but the ipod + cupholder would be great...but only if theres 2 cupholders.

  • Holyshit!!! There's a cupholder in there Vin...

  • OMG a cup holder. My dad has a 07 lotus and it doesn't have a single cup holder.

  • It ain't a car without a cupholder! LOL!

  • cars shouldn't have cup holders any way especially sports cars. only getto drivers will ask for such a feature in this type of car

  • Now thats convience at its finest you get A cupholder! lol

  • So are yo saying it doesn't come n red?

  • is it except of the hp compareable to the smart roadster?

  • Yes. The difference is, apart from the power, and that you can use the roadster every day, has more equipment, and it is less noisy, while the lotus is more like a trackday car for the road.

  • Quite a stunning car with exceptional performance. Sure not the car to buy to take the kids to soccer but for a few hours on a weekend ripping through the mountains - what else would you want?

  • OMG the cup holder will make most elise buyers want the touring package!

  • lolol i was thinking that.

i was like oh fukk a cupholder!

  • seats look too thin

  • interior looks pretty primitive and plain...look at that damn cup holder.

  • Actually, why pander and put the damn thing in there?

I mean if you're the sort of person who's looking for a car with decent cup holders, you wouldn't think about a Lotus Elise. Realistically.

  • any Elise/Exige is the one to get... the supercharged ones are just even more amazing

  • If Lotus was owned by the original company or at least another British company, it would be of even more value. Kind of like how Porsche is still made by the original company. I hate it when beautiful cars which are representative of a particular society is taken over by foreign companies. They did this to Rolls Royce (BMW) and Bentley (Volkswagon) ....And of course jaguar and land rover....terrible

  • great car

  • how much is this thing?

  • Lol, "A" cup holder. Not two or three, just A cup holder.

  • WTF? Oh noes! I can't get out of this car as easy as any other! It is no longer fun!

  • i love the lotus elise

  • OMG, I'm a girl and I want this and the helmet too haha.

  • o_O OMG!

  • italian cars are pretty mutch the best

  • british cars suck

  • wow, really broad topic there haha. yeah, a Rover 75 might suck, but these little things, (lotus, ariel atom, etc..) will wipe the floor with you.

  • not all man believe me not all

  • they have Toyota engines Dulap !

  • Not nearly as much as American cars though, that much is true. A Yank couldn't produce a decent car if his life depended on it.

  • you must be one of those fags that likes to drive his vw beetle everywhere lol, American cars are the best for the money

Jap cars are shit quality and euro cars are all the same

  • Lol a fag eh? I love overly homophobic American cum stains like yourself. The sooner you come out the better. And American cars might be the best for the money but they are mostly bog-standard, unoriginal, forgettable boxes.

  • unoriginal? im pretty sure we gave the world the production car known as the Model T

technically every car after that was unoriginal

  • Well if we were talking about history i'd say everything after the Karl Benz motorwagen was a rip-off, but we're not, we're talking about cars nowadays, and it's my opinion, and millions of others, that European cars are the best in the world.

  • no one wants to buy a car made a bunch of snail eating euros

  • Yet anyone with any money anywhere in the world buys European sports cars. And the French eat snails, the best cars come from Germany, Italy and the UK...get your facts right mate.

  • thats the point, if you read my comment you would see that i said American cars are the best for the money

anyway a muscle car is better than a whiney little ferrari anyday

  • sorry to burst your bubble, but anyone who isn't a muscle car fanatic would take a ferarri over a muscle car any day of the week.....yea european cars pwn its just a pain to get the parts in north america

  • try to get one with a cupholder...

  • what makes you think that?

  • Comment removed

  • Was that the last decent US car? 8-)

  • You have just got to be kidding, right?

I mean with such wonderful cars as the

    Mercury Grand Marquis and the

Dodge Charger (that when I drove it 2 years ago didn't like dodging and it's charging ability was pretty minimal) you're just deluded.

That and the fact that American cars look like they've been built by drunk gorillas on a booze cruise around a 70's plastic factory.

So many bits fell of the Dodge I could have held a garage sale!

  • how much is this and is it faster than the t-rex?

  • Don't quote me on the exact number but i believe the elise starts out at 45,0000 but if you want the exige, expect 65000, The T-Rex out accelerates the elise (Not Exige) by .7 seconds (0-60mph) and has a top speed of 153mph while the elise is only 150mph, The aspect that makes the elise outperform is it's grip to the road, the elise has better aerodynamics allowing it perform turns at higher speeds.

  • A CUP HOLDER? *GASP*

  • Only meant to look pretty not much else.

  • you dont know much about cars apparently.

  • I have it

  • yew go u guys lotus for life my fav car

  • litle but killer!!!

  • if ur talkin about the touring package around 56k not including any special paint, sports package, starshield, hardtop, or limited slip differential's, but most of those are extra goodies without em the cars about 54k

  • how much?!?! with the interrier package

  • so sexy

  • some day i can afford this car....

  • my dream car right here.

  • i need one...

  • how many hp?

  • 218

  • yeah great engine!

  • it might not sound too high but its so light that it doesnt even matter

  • these things are fun to get in and out of i'm sure.

  • You get used to it quickly.

  • i am thinking about getting this car for an everyday transportation. what do you guys think? also, what is the overall cost of the car..........i was thinking it was 35k.

  • The Denver Colorado dealership the Elise starting at just under $50,000 (non-SC version). I wouldn't get one of these for an everyday driver. It wouldn't hold it's value. It's a weekend car.

There are cars you get because you need a car and there are cars you get because you love to drive. IMO finance the car you need, but pay cash for the car you love. If you can't afford cash you shouldn't get it.

  • cool, do you think buying a used one will be a deal? of course after doing some research on the owner and carfaxing it......if it ends up being to much of a hassle im gonna go for the mkIV r32 might as well....

  • no way... it cost like $70,000 the exige is expensier, and i love the car too, i would buy it if i were to use the highways often in my life ,cause it's a waste to keep it for the streets only...this is the future of super cars, with not such a powerful motor but with a chasis so light that compensates the lack of power putting it's performance at the level of a porshe, believe it or not...

  • orrr Bmw Z4M CAB AND Mercedes Slk Amg 2008

  • haha $200,000 try about £35,ooo

    you know nothing

  • u r talking bout euros not dollars

  • She Costs roughly 52000 to 58000 US Dollars partner

  • he is talkin in UK pounds mate... 35000 is like 60000 dollar so he is right ;)

  • it would be kick ass if it lotus made a v6 in it

  • i've thought about buying this as a daily driver, but there's one problem people don't think about. aluminum chassis are amazing without a doubt, but when drivin on a regular basis something just seems to go wrong very very slowly. i don't know maybe it was a problem for cars a couple years ago but i know older elise's tended to creak and make noise after a few years of use. either way, i'd rather have the s240 exige. or even the eagle coming out.

  • Shut the fuck up

  • u cant even aford a lotus its like $200,000

  • more like 50k dumbass

  • wat u talking bout this is not 50K a nissan is like 40k and a caddilac is like 50k so how is this car 50K??? LOOK UP SOME FACTS BEFORE U EMBARRES ur self u dumbass its like 100K - 200k

  • Well actually mikem7522 is correct.

The lotus elise SC does cost 50k.

    Go to lotus's website,autotrader,anywhere.

  • thx for telling me

  • Your welcome :)

  • fucking lolled at you emberresing yourself dumbass, its 50k idiot.

  • man fuck u u can atleast talk nicely just like the guy who told me it was 50k. now y wont u tell that jackass who started it in the first place

  • well you werent exactly talking nice either like LOOK UP SOME FACTS BEFORE U EMBARRES urself in capslock lol

  • dude shut up i wrote that like almost a month ago. calm down gosh

  • i'm just copy pasting what you said earlier. and now your telling me to shutup and calm down in one sentence.

grow up and get a life.

  • dude y wont u shut up get a life. how long ago did i commen on this vid. 2 weeks. and now ur checking ur comments.if i were u, i would have forgot bout this vid along time ago. "but nooo my name is edujackass and i like to cause problems on something that happened 2 weeks ago."

  • i like to cause problems? ;D

    'calm down gosh '

  • shut up, you two, stop being asshats.

If I ever have 60k+ for a car, I'll be in a Lotus for sure. :)

  • your making the same mistake as the first guy posting. and you dont see me get aggressive in anny of my replys btw. so i dont understand what all the fuss is about.

  • Such beauty....

  • Thats nice but, I prefer yellow on this car, it stands out more.

  • I want this car in yellow, its amazing.

  • white with blak rims is better :P

  • totally agree with you :P

  • lo mejorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • is a supercharged rx-8 faster than the lotus elise sc?

  • car is nice, but a royel pain in the ass to get in.

  • ramy hacker is so fuckin wrong. first of all the gtr is fast and quick.thats about it. and im from ohio so dont fuckin say shit cuz i live next to this car. and the price. well u can buy if for just over 50(i woiuld buy an M3) but u can buy one used for 34,000 and supercharge it with intercooler and exaust including a fron splitter for just over 40,000 compared to teh gtrs price of 70,000? shut the hell up!

  • This car is orgasmic.!

    I want one.

  • I drove one of these, it's a blast but if you want a similar car that you can truly use everyday get a Honda S2000. I've driven my brother's S2000 many times and it offers similar performance as the Elise but is much more comfortable and has all the amenities of a luxury car. It handles just as well, shifts even better, looks good and is built better and more reliable than almost any car on the road. It's $15000 cheaper too. OR, if you like the elise buy that.

  • This is very true. The elise is a bit more focused as a track car. I used to drive one when I lived in England. It gives great thrills but it loses out in the comfort and usability part. And for the price there are lots of options. Like the mecedes 230 aswell

  • the Cup holder won me over! im getting the SC with the Touring Package!

  • That is my car

    I LOVE YOU LOUTOS

IM GONNA BE AN ACTRESS AND HAVE U

    ILY

    YOU ARE MY CAR!!!

  • druels....:-DDDD

  • Beautiful car.

  • geiger ford gt will leave that car

  • fucking love my car, lol!!.. mine is a normal lotuse, same looking though and faster cause of my upgrades, similer orange, but the interioris wight, cost me back in the day, 25 grands bby

  • whats the price on one of these? does anybody know , im guessing 50grand

  • 25 u.k grands,

  • In my Motor Trend Magazine...It shows the Base Price Range between $47,655-$55,970.

  • Horsepower Profiles. Com

  • i have two of these

  • here's you trophy nlm

  • four.....actually only one and its an N/A elise without that stupid ass wing on the back

  • are you serious! ahh, i am so jealous. (If only i had $50,000) you must be a bazilionair!

  • fuckin love mine to. you should treat yourself.

mines a standard s2.. AWESOME MOTOR

  • ah man! if only!.. someday i will

  • how would one of these cost?

  • yeah ive got about 5 of these.....well the hotwheels versions that is lol.

  • gotta love the new SC AND the new burnt orange color!

  • does anyone know how long it takes to get that soft T top off?

  • took me about less than 5 minutes. . .

  • it took me around one minute, it so simple compare to the S1 Elise & early S2...

  • thank you and sentino for confirming... i think it was clarksons review that threw me off. he said it was near impossible to get the top off!

  • i adore this car.

  • British and Italian = beautiful design

German and Swedish = best technology

Don't compare either, all make the best of the car industry.

  • super

  • haa ma name is elise

  • these cars are hell out the gate. i know, i raced one last night from a redlight in my 06 mustang GT. It left me after about 50 feet. Very quick!!

  • Haha, neat feeling to have a little 4 banger beat a big American V8, huh?

  • What has always let down Lotus has been the 1990's dash, the cars are great but FFS Lotus stop putting retarded dashes in the things.

  • sexiuest fuckin car ever made

  • This car is pretty sick, don't see cup holders often in cars.

  • you can tell an american reviewed the car strictly because it's downfall is HP and torque. You don't buy this car because of its tar ripping torque or its earth shattering HP. Go by a C5 and have fun at the drag strip.. this is a track car.

  • That was cool at 1:34. BURNOUT!!!!

  • Sorry, but this ugly car can never be called a sports car.

  • then go drive a mustang if you don't know what a sexy car looks like

  • you must be British, because that's the only the so called sports car you have.

  • LOL at least we have Sports cars, Lotus, TVR and Aston Martin....you nob muncher...

  • I like your style Sir!

  • The only sports car? What a joke dude, and let's not forget that the best car ever, the McLaren F1 comes from ENGLAND

The Lotus Elise feels different than any other car, you wouldn't know unless you drive one.... and your mini cooper comparasion just shows how stupid you are, you do realize that you're sitting higher up in one of those things right? Feels like a boat by comparasion, not that you'd know

And Lotus owned by Proton? So? Maserati has been bought/sold many times, do they suck?

  • McLaren is from england? be honest man! Maybe they helped to build it but never did it. Mostly it was done by germans. They are the real brains, that's why they bought all the british car companies so they wont disturb their market. Lotus bought by a Malaysian company(Proton), how freaking lame! lol, Land Rover and Jaguar bought by an Indian company(TATA) among other crappy cars England used to make. No offense but lets face it!

  • You my friend know nothing of the Lotus or the brand. I do because I own one. Maybe instead of "trying" to be some one, you should try to find some information on what you will be talking about. That way people that do know, will not be laughing at your small mind.

  • The juice of it, I dont like England because it's way over rated. I like some British people, just not the arragent ones who can't admit that they're not perfect. You seem like a nice guy, but honestly speaking, lotus isnt a great car. After driving Japaneses cars like Nissan skyline, 305Z, Lexus LS 300 and did a lot of research on them, the cars cant be compared to anything else because when you pay for it, you are 300% sure it earns every cent you paid.

  • Wow I wouldn't want a single one of the cars you just listed, but I think what it comes down to is personal preference. I've seen a lot of used Lotus's up for sale from people that bought it just for the looks, but the drivers I've met who own them and go to car meets/track days absoluetly love them. The Elise definantly isn't meant for build quality or comfort, but there are a lot of people out there who want and use it exactly as intended-a pure sports car.

But hey if you prefer rice, enjoy!

  • Sweet jangling Jesus! What would define a sports car in your opinion?

  • The Nissan GTR, Nissan Skyline, 350Z thats from Nissan alone. Honda, Mistu, Lexus...etc and still thats Japanese only. A Mini cooper can burn out a Lotus anytime anywhere. Let's not forget, Lotus was sold to a Malaysian company after its Failure to stay in the market

  • Nissan skyline/GTR= turbo barge

Mini Cooper= pathetic example, can't even respond to this car...

Honda, Mistu, Lexus... What? Fuck off, give me something to work with!

Failed to stay in the market? When, with the Elise product have they EVER had problems staying in or competing in the market?

The Elise is pure sports car. None of the cars you have mentioned come close to the true definition of a sports car.

  • Why you British people only know how to talk? And even in talking you are disrespectful? We're both giving opinions and NO ONE is right or wrong, I really respect your choice of Cars but I can't agree with you due to having experience many cars and Those companies I mentioned have never failed to impress me. You like Lotus thats your choice but for what you're paying, Might as well get the Nissan GTR which can burn it down to the ground in the first seconds of take off.

  • You bag of shit, all you have told us is that you know fuck all about Lotus and you cant afford an Elise, peasant....I have a Lotus S2 and a Mini Cooper and let me tell you the Mini drives like a bus compared to the Elise.

  • i was going to make a list (lotus, tvr, ariel, aston martin,mclaren,...) of all the british sportscars/companies and motorsport victories...but somehow, i believe it wouldnt mean anything to a newbish nfs underground player ;)

  • HA. HAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Wow a mini cooper. Your a 50 year old japanese person right.

Though i do love me a r34 gtr... Nothing you listed is a sports car or supercar or race car. Maybe an acura NSX could be a good rice-rocket sports car example?

BTW You do know mini coopers are lame right?

  • Okay, Let me just get down to it. I have loved Japanese cars since I knew what a car is. I watched Japanese races, then in teenage hood was reading all about Italian and Japanese car and companies like Honda, Toyota and Nissan, those companies are making this world a better place by developing Green stuff and Robots..etc. I respect that. In my adult hood I drove Japanese cars and American and of course European, for your money Japanese always came at first position(Like Google, Simple but Great)

  • I love it, a way better choice than any other sports car in the US because of the fuel economy.

  • well nice car with the black rims

  • The Elise has less electronics than the GTR. The GTR might be faster, but this is the essence of driving. It is simple and pure and If i were to buy a lotus, i would buy the non Supercharged Elise, which is much closer to colin chapman had in mind for this company.

  • i would like to see how the Audi R8 would do with the GTR, i am concidering of ditching the lotus and go for the R8

  • i have to say the GT-R is a great car and both of these cars have been engineered to a marvel, but you cant compare these cars at all. I have High respects for a lotus, seeing that I will soon be a lotus owner. if any of you gone racing, drag, drift, or track, you will know that you stick with the same class of engins, for a 4 the lotus is god in that class, the GT-R is a V6. whats more amazing is that a lotus is even being compared with the bigger boys. like porsche and ferrari.

  • Nice try but for 7k or so one could put a Ronin intercooled SC on a stock 2005 Elise, ECM tune and a few other mods and you have 300hp in a 1900lb vehicle that would beat a GTR around the track - search here on Ronin Exige and don't let your jaw hit the floor too hard haha ! His car is 340hp at the wheels + 1900lbs you do the math

  • Lets make a list of the bone stock unmodified, as they come from the factory, cars that are UNDER 50k that are faster than the Elise SC shall we ? Remember, NON MODIFIED BONE STOCK form the showroom floor and UNDER 50k are the parameters. And we are talking faster as in on a race track with left and right corners not drag racing.

  • Yeah but how hard is it to do that? Every company could build a elise if they wanted to, take a extremely light chasis with fiberglass carbon fiber components and a small engine from anywhere and WALA you have a lotus elise. The GTR is a work of art, its a giant self correcting computer on wheels, and it gives just as much pleasure driving as any lotus. Every car company wishes they can build a GTR but the noone can, thats why everyone is left scratching their heads while GTRs destroy.
