  • I think he sucks. excuse me man but Les Claypool and Victor Wooten are so much better in every way.

  • @sumero99 Mmmmh yeah, that's a point of view.

I think Claypool do funny things, but I don't really like it. Victor is very impressive, and is able to play whatever he wants with his panel of techniques. But his compositions are lame.

Marcus slap technique is not necesserly incredible, it's just cool. I prefer his jazz licks, when he's finger-playing.

But don't forget M² i a great composer and producer. Miles Davis did not do a mistake. I don't think Marcus sucks (even if you don't like him)

  • @karur Yeah your point of view is good i think.that said my favorite is still Les Claypool :P

  • @sumero99 Please post proof. They cannot compare with the full package of Marcus

  • @bassramos I'll correct myself then, this was just my opinion. I actually think he is good that Marcus but I also think he lacks of skills.

  • Boy this is crazy. I've never seen Marcus use a wah before.

  • It's great to finally see that electric guitar in the background where it belongs.

  • @inthe7thhouse Excuse me? the guitar is just as awesome as an instrument as the bass is. It just so happens to fall in the background in this genre of music, but that does NOT mean the guitar should alwyays be in the background.

  • @inthe7thhouse i bet you are not an artist... that comment is soooooo....

  • lol the drummer sick

  • @Amezz55

I know, I was just about to say. The drummer is fantastic.

  • super solo e groove!!

  • Black Bass Guitar Rambo Holding his 50cal. Machine gun#..

  • I'll play like that someday...a man can dream, can't he?

  • Who says a bass guitar can't be the stand out of the band!!!!!!! I love it.....

  • This made my awesome day even better!

  • I recently bought a 5 string MM JB and the sound is incomparable to other bass guitars I have owned in the past. Presently I also own 5 string musicman stingray and although its good, its no way clear and punchy as MM JB. I also played Warwicks, status - good basses but if you want a perfect slap tone, go for the MM JB...

  • that bass!

  • Respect ;) if you need an inspiration then Marcus Miller is the man you need :)

  • It's all a 4:38 minute orgasm!

  • is that poogie bell on the drums?

  • @stringriffer00

if that is him , that is one funky motherfucker!!!!!!!!

  • @stringriffer00 That's him. Stone cold groove.

  • wowwwwwwwww

  • gotta love the drummer!

  • Nice rendition of Panther

  • The guitarrist looks amused palying the same chord all through the song lol

  • @GuitarFilip Like Bass in most rock songs

  • @GuitarFilip yes cos that what he has to do at this time cos marcus is taking the center stage

  • they sure named this track right - Domination it fucking is

  • I was kinda hoping for a jazz Pantera cover here.

  • Marcus Miller seem to be such a cool guy !..Like you break his car windows by accident and Miller say.. "That's ok...lets have a beer and play some bass"

  • oh man!!!!

am I the only brasilian that like good music??

I will post in english and portuguese!!!

    oh cara!!!

this guy is very very very good on the bass!! my dream is to be like he!!!

i'm not so good writing in english xD

  • Marcus and Poooogiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeee :!!!!

  • marcus you are a baaaaaaaaaad MOFO,PEACE BRO you are the man!

  • isn't that panther?

  • IT is

  • i just want everybody stop playing, and just listen to the sound of Marcus and his music.

  • in favorits!

p/s/ - this is HIS SOLO.May be now we must call all solos - DOMINATIONS!HHHH!Great idea!!!

  • Listen to the drummer as well. He really responds to what Marcus is doing.

  • Juste un bassiste énorme ^^

  • Marcus is great!

  • I put this video on my fav's, and what I particularly like is the versatility Marcus demonstrated with his effects and techniques. This Millerhead thinks Marcus is one of the Baddest.

  • oh my god

  • dean brown on guitar

  • dean brown on guitar

  • I think that's Dean Brown on guitar

  • who is this guitarist??What is his name?

  • hey, can some of you bass players out there leave some comments on my bass vid? thatd be great.

  • take out the rhythm section and as badboy said, it would sound dry.

  • Actually you lot, Mark King and Marcus Miller have both battled out the "Best Bass Player in the World" title for many years (way back to 1982). Both have been voted best. I think Mark King (Level42) just pips Marcus though but that's only my opinion.

  • of course you can hear him! wtf are you talking aboutt???

  • Comment removed

  • You could take away the guitarist I'm visualising it now and I can tell you it wouldn't work.

  • this guy is the fucking king of bass

  • @TheDoudidou Yes, exept he's not the only one.. there are many others

  • 3:53 that has got to be the funkyest 10 seconds of music ever!

  • The guitarist keep the rhythm at the back for Marcus to solo on etc.

Without him the song is pretty dry actually. You can hear him do abit of solo at the start.

  • and your point is?

  • you can hear him.

    he's important, and pretty good

  • 0:26 ... that is the goofiest guitarist i've ever seen lol.

  • Is that an MTD sitting behind him?

  • fodera fretless

  • haha ive never seen marcus miller like this - it's usually the same slap on the pentatonic scale. But i love this one !

  • yeah this is pretty out there for him.

  • That guitarist kinda looks like a long haired Jim Carrey

  • No that guitarist looks like from the 'Ramones'

  • Wow he is really experimenting on the sound of the instrument.

    I love that on musicians

On which CD is this Track ?

  • Awsome marcus

  • good lord, it takes fucking strength to hammer on and pull like that on a bass

  • Technique actually

Look at Brandon Rose (10yr old playing with marcus miller)

  • You need to buy antidepressant pills.

  • @arnbassbaritone Who needs antidepressant's with brilliant music like this !

  • he plays ii

  • If he uses a fodera bass, then I find it odd that he has got his own signature fender bass. Which looks exactly like the one he plays in this vid.

  • dey wer talkin bout his fretles

  • lol do they ever mic out the guitarist or do they just lower his level like crazy lol

  • lol i notice that too

    especially at 00:28

its all about marcus in this vid

    heh

  • Well this is supposed to be this way. The guitarist is a rythm guitar and doesn't do a lot in Marcus' songs...

  • Damn yeah, but theres no volume! lol

  • So what, that's the way the bass is in like 80% of music anyway. haha

  • uhh...... im assuming you mean 80% of HIS music?

  • how do you know what year it was, here the answer:

as it closer to our time, the drummer looks more like bigfoot and more hair, as it farer, he looks more like a human

(no I am not trying to insult)

    and Marcus Miller Rocks :)

  • you haven't met bigfoot, he might be cooler dan a human

  • i met him once. he plays the bass. so naturally hes awesomely cool. he just sits ther, in the mountains, and slaps his Nature bass to the rhytmn of the pre recorded drumtracks on his cheap-ass Casio synth.

  • can someone tell me what brand his fretless is cuz i am stumped lol. im probably gonna seem really foolish when i find out.

  • It's a Fodera.

  • what wah pedal is he using?

  • a crybaby extended q :]

  • Marcus knows what's good. I'm never bored when he's playing. Jazzfunk cats don't come any cooler.

  • Yoyoyoyoyoyyyy !!!! There is the "dzsuckel " inside !!! The motor is in, absolutely virtuose man

  • he is the king of slap marcus miller rulz

  • the drummer lmfao

  • i wanna see marcus slap on a five or six string bass. But fender only goes up to five so he might have to try a different maker.

  • how do you come up with that thought?

  • genius...

  • i didnt think it could get any funkier untill he pulled out the wah, awesome...

  • yok böle bişi

    süper ötesi..

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!! i love it!!! i just love it!!!

  • anybody know waht wah he uses

  • um no soz

  • k thanks man

  • i love dean brown, the guitar player.

  • i love marcus miller, the bass player :D

  • he's a fukn insanely groovy bass player (if that even makes any sense) pure emphasis on the groove rather than the flash factor

  • his usage of the wah pedal is excellent...really good control :D

  • yeah alot!! bands like primus can sometimes use it too much(still it rocks). this guy uses it just right

  • The big man with the hat

  • mushroom cult: youre damn right. btw is the guitarist guy michael angelo batio or that extremely moronic haircut is common with good guitar players?:S excuse me for my stupidness

  • hell yeah mushrooms right! and i think your right about the haircut dealio lol

  • i like marcus miller for the fact that he cares about the groove rather than the how many notes can i fit into 8 bars ect

theres alot of slap bass solos that sound like someones smashing 2 metal pipes together lol

  • Agree with you BLUEScrazy. Marcus is a great bassist. he's like the bass world's Eric clapton. Very melodic.

  • those guys who says marcus miller's solos are bad no nothin bout music. for you is all about speed and flash. open ur ears and listen. these are are great bass line that take years of experience to put together

  • is the guitarist mike stern

  • no that is the great Dean Brown

  • definitivamente es uno de los mejores!!!

  • BodaciouslyHST ? have you ever studied jazz ? or bass ?

Coldyintiger is quite right... And i saw Marcus Miller playin a flamenco impro on his bass ! Astounding solo !

Study jazz, bass, music history or just simply listen... If you don't like his style, just say it. Don't say it's bad or ridiculous...Just a matter of musical taste, i guess. But whatever if you like his style or not, Marcus Miller is on of the greatest bass player ever !

  • His solos are more groove based and revolve around staying with the song itself. They aren't just about going NOTESNOTESNOTESNOTES, he tries to make it sound like a part of the song

  • I think his solos are terrific as well. I've listened to many of them and I love his approach!

  • Miller's lines are great, but why are his solo's so bad?

  • Are you out of your mind? You dont know what you are talking about. His solos are riddiculous!!

  • His solos is great man! you dont listen shit to the music. he is a fantastic bass player with fantastic bass solos :P

  • ya and he says Alain Coron the best!

  • haha :P

  • yeh man marcus for life :P

  • drugs are badd for you. you start hearing things and then your eyes fail you. You cannot get high before you watch Marcus play bass. It screws everything up. Stop this i say!!!!

  • Marcus is great. He makes that bass talk how he wants it to. He can play the great jazz lines to. Check him out with Dario Deidda on their second video playing a night in tunisia. After watching that talk about his phrasing. He is true to what he does.
