  • Pulling to very near stalling AoA preserves the most energy into the vertical...not a gentle pull. He's trying to get the banner up without snagging anything (abrupt end to the flight) again, the longest vertical line is the one you pull to the hardest without an accelerated stall. Aerobatics 101. Also works for a 45 degree up line. He is doing it right :)

  • Pulling 4 or 5 G's for a banner pick up? Why would you pull so hard and bleed off all of that energy? I towed banners in a Scout and never pulled that hard. I'm glad to see you survived.

  • my name is ross reynolds 2 man thats fuckt up hahah

  • How many hours a year do you pick up? Been looking for a way to get hours and get paid (however little)

  • Well this was back in 2007, in Ocean City Maryland. I got about 400 hours and the pay was pretty decent. Its a good career stepping stone, I fly for the Air Force now.

  • @pilotman777 Great Job, Good Luck!

  • Weak Banner tow airplane......I beg to differ Mr Fbarchi........I guess you never have flown a Citabria.......They are fine tow aircraft.......Get a Life!!!! They are reliable fun and can pull there weight. And they have a reputation to protect there pilot in times of need.

  • Now how do you get the banner off? =P

  • Very easy, there is a handle you just pull off.

  • very cool

  • what a badass!

  • thats intense....sweet video!!

  • I wonder what kind of face I used to pull on pick up! Just kidding. Nice video. Wish I could have done some video like this back in the 80's.

  • why the hell would anyone want to watch 2 1/2 minutes of your head mate?

  • I got other videos, but you never see what happens in a plane from this perspective.

  • @tractor24873 - coz its a lot more interesting than seeing your head in a tractor!

  • @KillTheBlairs and thats why i face my camera forward.

    Fail!

  • @tractor24873 Yes you did!

  • what do you mean not check your hook, we had mirrors mounted on the side of our airplane, anyway I was flying a Scout

  • I mean stick your head out the door to verify the hook is not wrapped around the rudder horn.

  • OK, I noticed you didn't check your hook before you picked up. That could be a fatal error - especially in a weak banner tow airplane such as a citabria

  • Citabria is the best all around aircraft ever built.

  • about 4 or five

  • BTW, how many G's are you pulling on the pickup? Thanks, great video.

  • Your head never stops swiveling, sign of a good pilot. Great job.
