WTCG actually stood for "Watch This Channel Grow", But had alternately used the name Turner Communications Group, with no meaning from the "W". In 1979, the station grew and became what we now know as TBS(WTBS at the time, but alternatively TBS until 1987)showing "Deep Waters"{1948-Cesar Romero and Dana Andrews} across states such as Nebraska, Virginia, Alabama, and Kansas. The name "Superstation"(Which was later for WTBS, then TBS)came into the channel name, and set a precedent for basic cable.
