  • sounds like a bike running to me you big jokesters

  • I really like the way that sounds. It doesn't sound like a typical 2.3. Sounds more like a Japanese car with a Mazda twang.

  • these stangs look the best and have a nice and light chassis but as for the motors they came with... lets just say it wasnt Fords greatest achievment.

  • @need2speed94 how not? the turbo 4's eat civic si's ... the v8 ones beat camaros and stuff of the time. Please tell me how the motors sucked because im not quite sure how you could say that.

  • @Leafsrule016 Your really saying the 302's in these are good? They suck. They are crappy/weak 2 bolt mains, the heads flow terribly, they're heavy because they're iron and yet they still can't hold good power even thought the fact that they're iron. Not to mention they still use a distributor. Honestly the best thing you can do for a fox body is swap the motor. I rarely see sub 10 second fox's with the stock longblock Or shortblock.

  • @need2speed94 stock ones run pretty good, im sure you'd have fun in one. 210 hp isnt much but all you gotta do is put duals on it, headers, a cam and some little better heads like gt40's and there more then enough for the street and there lots fun. I swapped my last one out for a built 351 windsor ..... now the car sits in my shed. 5 litres never failed me. Swap the motors with what? Only ricers swap motors, real men build them.

  • @Leafsrule016 not even hah... ive had friends with BONE STOCK LS1's run 5.0s with H/C/I and full exhaust and still wax the 5.0. Their time has come and gone. They beat out the chevy 5.0/5.7 in the 80s but they need work to beat LTx's and and A LOT of work to beat LSx's. Only ford windsor motor id go for is a 351w, and still those are pretty weak as well since theyre 2 bolt mains but they stand a better chance against say an LS1 compared to a 5.0 And btw if you wana be truly fast, you'll swap ;)

  • @need2speed94 of course a 5.0 which hasn't received real updates since the 80's and is an old push rod motor cant run with ls1's. The new 5.0 sure can though but thats a different story. Take a stock 350 from the 80's and compare it, the 302 works better. Build up a 400 hp 5.0 (not that hard) and its fast as fuck because the car is so light. My crate engine shot a rod right through the block .. my 302 was putting down almost 350 hp and that ran very best, was pretty much my daily driver too.

  • @Leafsrule016 The LS1 is a pushrod too:) as are all of GM's LSx series motors and Chrysler's modern HEMI's... Ford is the only one to strive with the new OHC design and yet they have the weakest motor every year lol. Oh man, GMs 350 from the 80s BLEW... I remember a certain optioned 3rd gen came with a 175hp 350 V8 hahaha. Ouch...

  • @need2speed94 LSx's and ls1's and even lt1's are a lot more sophisticated, newer (and bigger) then fords little old 302. Anyays, im not sure what your trying to say but your comparing an 80's car to a modern one and im saying there still fast as hell if you do them up right but if i were going to put a blower or anything on it, id for sure get a stronger block. Still, a cam, heads, the right intake and all that shit will make them haul ass

  • @Leafsrule016 i'm just trying to say that even though I love fox body's and how they look on the outside, they pack nothing special under the hood. I Love seeing fox's with motor swaps... they have the killer looks and the powerplant to back it up. Oh yea... ive seem some people boost the stock block, didnt hold up so well once you start pushing it. Of course, a good H/C/I setup will make anything haul ass.

  • @need2speed94 a stock 302 block is fine as long as its tuned right and your not pushing 500+ hp. There under rated, at our drag strip theres lots of them with big boost and lots of mods doing just fine .. ironic it was the 351 that first blew on me that sent me back to 302's

  • @Leafsrule016 Hah even more ironic, I'm talking about the durability of the LS1... when today driving my LS1 Z/28 I broke something, and after discussing what happened with people on forums and some buddies of mine, we're guessing that I threw a rod hah. Fuck.

  • @need2speed94 haha sucks man. my mustang is blown too, right now it has a bunch of stuff sitting on it in my garage lol. gonna fix it right away or no? my mustang would be running but im going to school and funds are tight, im just driving my civic and trying to save what i can get to build somethin badass this winter.

  • @Leafsrule016 Depends on how bad the damage is... if its a thrown rod or detonated cylinder or something serious like that it's gotta wait... nice what are you gonna build up in the winter? the stang once its fixed?

  • @need2speed94 yeah, im going to get another motor in it. not sure what although i know where theres a decent 351 I could do up. My buddy is getting his stang running too, next summer should be fun

  • @Leafsrule016 I say if you go the windsor route get a 351 and stroke it to 408. If you want a mod motor, a forged 4.6 from a cobra. Those are pricey but I have no doubt you get good bang for your buck.

  • @need2speed94 Dont really want to play around with anything modular but i know what your saying. Part of me almost wants to go the crate engine route, at least you know before you take it all apart what you got and you dont need to do much to them, just plug and play really. I seen a few sites with some crate engines in my price range with more then the power i was hoping to get

  • @Leafsrule016 Gotcha... most true Ford guys I know prefer the older windsors for displacement instead. Crate engines look like a good idea to me, haven't had any experience with them but I'm sure the quality is very very good, and you might be able to get a warranty on some hah. Plug and play is a great way to describe crate motors from what I've heard, I say go for it!

  • How do thease compare to a V8 model?

  • @Mauser2012 like a tricycle to a 600cc motorcycle.

  • @canthony1019 That makes sense. When I see the 2.3 L engine it barley fills up the engine compartment. Are they still fun though?

  • @Mauser2012 my 2.3l is fun but the 5.0 is more fun lol

  • 4 banger? what does it mean? 4 cylinder engine or what?

  • @pelewi yea 4 banger means an inline 4

  • when we used to have a dirt track in hawaii this was one of the most popular type of cars in the mini stock class. basically any rwd 4 banger.

  • 4 banger fox body? thats whats up

  • did yu sharpie on that 12?

  • i hate this video.. and that car.. poor weak mustang...:/

  • Turbo T-bird coupe for only one year? Try 1983-1988. The SVO Mustang was dropped because it didn't sell well. Nice car, but expensive and yes, slower in stock form than a 5.0. Of course now with a few parts thrown in they make all kinds of power, but back in the 80's it just didn't make sense for most buyers. BTW nice car oneofakindfrom86

  • @TheWhalerfan actually the svo out preformed the 5.0 stock to stock.

  • @niffty THANK YOU! ive been telling people that the 2.3 turbos are faster than 5.0s for YEARS now ever since i got my 88TC

  • @roydied15

You arent lying... they are lighter. and can produce similar numbers.

  • @34SkiLLz14Luck the turbo 4banger weighs almost the same as a 5.0 cause the block is like 60% nickel. that being said, it can probably handle MORE abuse than a 5.0 before it blows up.

  • @roydied15 you like it? i have a 92 LX with a 2.3 and im gonna swap that for a 2.3t

  • this is what these cars a meant for... mini stock racing... check out mine, its more high performance though. my track runs a mini stock class. not like the four banger. the ones i race are alot more high performance.

  • and even dropped the SVO, which was a rather silly idea

  • does that seriously have a cam in it....

    cmon

  • i feel like anything other than a v8 or maybe that 3.8 v6 in a mustang should be illegal

  • @WannaBFoxRacer Hey man, those 2.3 turbos (SVO) kicked the 5.0's butt.

  • @Shomelife not stock to stock they didnt

  • @WannaBFoxRacer Um, yes they did. They had roughly 250 horsepower, with a light engine and boost, vs. the 5.0L 225hp motor. So better handling, better horsepower, better torque. Thats a win in my opinion.

  • @WannaBFoxRacer I would rather the 2.3 4cyl over the v6, its unfortunate ford didn't feel the same way. They had even designed a 290hp DOHC turbo 4 cylinder for the SVO in 87, but for some reason decided not to build it

  • @holmd90 ... your right ... the 4cyl had more power and was faster then the 3.8 v6 was ... think about it a straight 4 with 110 horsepower vs a v6 with 145 hp the 4cyl had more torque aswell ....

  • @1969fordtruck that is very depressing that the I4 had more torque. now just imagine what could have been if ford had stuck to the 2.3, but made it into a DOHC motor instead, and retained an SVO option good for about 275 hp. or at least used the SHO V6 in the mustang, what were they thinking dropping a torquey OHC 4cyl for a flipping underpowered boat anchor

  • @holmd90 ... yeah i have two of the ford taurus SHO .... they are fast ... will defenitly outrun a stock 5.0 mustang!!!!! one is a 91 SHO 5 speed the other is a 01 SHO auto .... yeah they screwed up by putting those 3.8 in the stang ... would have been much more useful as a boat anchor ... then they only made a SVO mustang for a year and a half ... and the turbo coupe t-bird for a year which was really just a waste ...

  • @1969fordtruck not trying to be a dick or anything, but there was no SHO made in 01,production stopped in 99,until the new awd one came out in 2010

  • @blabla3o .... your exactly right .... but the 01 ( and i'm sure other years) used the exact same design / concept as the sho did with almost the same horsepower .... the 91 sho has 220 hp and the 01 has 200 hp ... there both fast ...

  • @holmd90 It was a money issue, the svo's production was very expensive, there where allot of miss communications that lead to over spending. And being that it was a 4banger, even though it out would out preform the 5.0 it was looked doen apon. it was also more expensive due to the mistakes in production cost.

  • @niffty Stupid money anyhow, makes all kinds of poor decisions for people. Oh well at least there are still 2.3s around for us to play with and enjoy

  • i like the notchbacks better then any other mustang

  • u have got to be kidding me with those fuckin rims on that truck

  • @rockitovato1 I know right? XD

  • what up with the effed rims on the truck....

  • What was the point of this video.

  • what mods have you done to it?

  • sounds like a tricked out go-kart

  • Thats our car!!
