  • No videos with that rope drum?

  • If this guy wants to make something big WGI is the way to go

  • this dude is perfect for DCI. With that skill, i think being short wouldnt matter one bit.

  • How about WGI?

  • Wow. I haven't seen any new videos for over a year. He definitely plays cleaner than before. It's video like this that just fire me up to practice, which is what I'll go do right now.

  • @oldchops who taught him to play the drums??? And what age did he actually start learning big time rudiments??

  • @p00key123 I got him started, but he has had other instructors over the years. He started playing at around 5, maybe 6. He was introduced to rudiments, gradually, when he started. Thanks for watching!

  • Damn!! The score I have is marked as quarter note = 120 but you played it at 125.

    Awesome!

  • Too choked up on the stick •_•

Corps won't like that at all

  • @SDHSdrummer he isn't too choked up on the stick as the legato'd projection is clearly defined in this vid.

  • It's been very awesome watching Jay become more and more professional drummer. Thanks for every video and keep going! Good job! :)

  • I'd love to see some videos of jay playing with his high school line

  • Jay, you are getting old! I remember watching you as a little kiddie when I was 14! You're the greatest!

  • @cbspree most drummers keep there drum belly button height because your hands are more relaxed for fast playing

  • YOUR DRUMMING MADE MY SPEAKERS BLOW OUT!

  • lovin the snare man.

  • Great quality of sound!

  • Excellent Job my friend !!! Congratulation !!!!

  • PLEASE TELL ME he's on his HS drumline and is the captain!

  • @jjguerra48 Yes he is in the drumline; played snare drum during marching season. No, we was not captain. Jay was an incoming freshman, and besides that, there were capable (given the nature and quality of that drumline) older returning players.

  • @oldchops lol I am reminded of a line from the movie Drumline: "You must learn to follow before you can lead."

  • his hair is getting long, that's pretty sweet haha

  • Whoa, that looked really effortless. Jay's chops are ridiculous.

  • siickk. as always.

  • at some points it sounded like you where playing the santa clara vanguard's elecric wheelchair

  • you didn't answer the most important question -- which drum corps is he thinking of auditioning for? :)

  • @ultrafunkymonkey I agree. Say blue devils and i will salute him. But I feel bad for the person who has to pay for it.

  • @truthamedia LOL! That would be me and his mother, my wife. But, if that is what he wants to do, and if he has everything in order (grades/academics, attitude, grades, grades, being a nice young man, grades, did I say grades, etc.) we would support him financially. Jay is also earning, raising and saving a few dollars on his own already.

  • @ultrafunkymonkey Jay likes many corps. Over the years, his favorite has been SCV. He likes the Cavies, Phantom, Blue Devils, Coats and several others as well. Depending on his physical growth (as you can see, Jay is short and has a small frame) and some other things, he will probably audition for one of those major corps. for the 2013 season. He may try out for a smaller corps. for the 2012 season.

  • @oldchops keelan tobia is pretty short too :) yay for scv!

and i'm happy to hear he was on his drumline. congrats Jay!

  • @oldchops he would kill it on the academy. that line is full of young great players just like him

  • @oldchops he should go with SANTA CLARA VANGUARD.

    NUFF SAID. lol

  • great Job! keep it up oldchops :)

  • FIRST!!!! Haha! Nice job Jay! I play percussion at Illinois State, and this is really fun to watch!
