You just have to buy a new fan, you can get it for like $35 at EBAY (Same TOSHIBA fan) then you have to start digging in your laptop until you get to the fan (You are gonna have to detach even the screen hinges and cables are in the way, also mother boards etc.. I been so happy with the performance of my SONY VGN SZ 330 P.. Google it you are gonna find a detailed step by step manual to do it if you can pay pal some money to the guy who posted the manual . peace.
sony built expensive laptops and they always have issues...shows that just because you spend alot of a laptop doesn't mean it's any better than a low end cheap one.
hmm... never had this prob on mine l0l idk mine has never had anyprob only when the mouse was acting stupid and doing the opposite than the way it was supposed to but i only slept it and and woke it up and well it worked l0l
my sz fan sounds like this half the time too. Is there a cure aside from replacing it? Like some wd40 or something? If anyone knows do please let me know!
i have and sz6 and the same happened to mine.....its startes making a noisd and then it over heats, i could only use it when plugged into the main with out the battery in. Replaced the fan............quiet as ever!
has anyone talked with sony about this issue? I opened up the cover and poked around and couldn't do anything to stop the noise. It appears that the fan might be loose on it's chassy and moves around (vertically) therefore it strikes something that I cannot see about every 3 seconds causing the rattling noise.
Surprisingly it still works fine, but i want to sell it and the noise might deter potential buyers

I had the same problem with my SZ. It will get much worse over time. The fan needs to be replaced.
