Paul discusses tounges and gives a clear instructive process in 1 Cor14 ,that involves a singer a teacher,a revelator an interperator,this should strengthen you all.

@icysilver1 yep i know but it always should be an interpreter there anyways. I guess some churches don't have them but my church does and we speak in tongues all of the time because the spirit of God gives us utterance. God is dealing with every church and i'm sure he is working something out with them. They look like a well put together church and we don't know if they have an interpretor or not all we can do is let them do what's best for them. I'm all for it. :)

Stop limiting the Holy Spirit by misinterpreted scripture. Paul only wrote what he wrote to the Corinthians because of their misuse of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and their ignorance concerning it. The only order that the Holy Spirit requires is you being yielded to Him in total surrender. As long as you are under His presence you will never go wrong. :)
Why is it that seemingly millions of people "speak in tongues" yet no one, not even the person speaking knows what they are saying? Not only that but what is the purpose of speaking in tongues if no one else knows what you're saying?

The second I turned on this video and he began to speak in tongues, i began to cry and speak in tongues uncontrollably and fell flat on my face. The power of God is really moving through this man if i can simply open the video and hear his voice and the presence of God can fall so heavily on me. My father is a pastor and I've been in church all my life and this is the first time anything like this has happened to me so strongly.

This doesn't help anyone because there's no interpretation. There must be some type of interpreter when "tongues" are spoken when the body comes together. Also, if tongues are a "heavenly language" or spiritual language, let's not forget that the Devil was once an angel himself, cast out to Hell. simply pronounce any sound that comes to mind. it's no that difficult, but sometimes it has a religious connotation, which is why many people don't do it anymore... except for newborns.
Read 1 Corinthians 14 and then tell me this man has the gift of speaking in tongues! God grants unto his servants the gift of tongues in order for them to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people in foreign lands who speak foreign tongues. The only reason Benny Hinn would need to use the gift of speaking in tongues is if someone in the audience would speak the language and be in need of his gift. The gift of tongues is ALWAYS coupled with the interpretation thereof.
Not true.When a person is speaking in tongues, it is a private conversation between that person and God. It is used because the devil can't understand it. Speaking in tongues is a "heavenly language" and is used for prayer and for "recharging" the spirit. Also used for uplifting and edification.
Speaking in tongues is also used as a sign for unbelievers. Saddens me how people frequently pick apart the bible, and choose certain verses to suit themselves!

It's like Hispanics speaking in Spanish and BECAUSE a non-Hispanic is in the room you have a translator because Paul said they'll think you're all mad. It was a practical means to spread the good news on an international scale in a short time. that message has been spread there is no need to speak in tongues. Only the apostles of jesus christ could speak in it. when they died the language died as well. (Acts 2:4, 14, 17; 10:44-46; 19:6 see also 8: 14-18. and Hebrews 2:2-4)

i know this is a silly question but i just need confirmation - when people speak tongues do they all speak varying or different languages? i ask because i've been blessed with the ability to speak in tongues at any time but i've noticed it sounds different to how other people pray in tongues. i've considered that because it's a heavenly language that maybe everybody speaks the same one language, or maybe that it changes so the enemy can never suss onto what we're saying..help?lol
It is your own personal spiritual language. No one language is like another because it is YOUR spirit speaking to God. The enemy can not decipher what we are saying because we are speaking in the spiritual and not the natural.
@xbabygirltx There are different tonges...of worship, prophesy, praise etc...my tongues change all the time. I guess it depends on what my spirit is praying for at the time. Sometimes its repetitive- praise, or it changes continuosly-prophesy.
This is a worship service and in John's gospel it says to worship in Spirit and Truth. Compare 1Corinthians 14 praying and singing in tongus is worhiping in Spirit and Truth.

Because there are two catagory of tongues people are confused by the term "speaking in tongues" as one gift, the scriptures pertaining to "tongues" thus appears confusing and is misapplied.
1.Gift of diverse kinds of tongues - human languages
because after you receive the Holy Ghost, you can work through the gifts of the Spirit heard in 1 Corinthians 12, the gift of tongues is divers tongues, because the gift of divers tongues they have an interpretation of tongues, people miss understand that, Jude says praying through the Holy Ghost how by speaking in tongues the only evidence show that the Spirit has taken over the whole body because in James it says that the tongue can no man tame, that is why God chose tongues Isaiah 28:11
In the context of that chapter Paul was instructing AGAINST that very thing. He's insisting that a translator be present, otherwise speaking in tongues is useless. I.e., basically saying, "Have an interpreter present. Otherwise, nobody knows what you're saying and you're just talking to God, which doesn't really help anyone but just makes you puffed up and arrogant."
speaking in tongues isnt just to help people but is also used as prayer to the lord. For example when i feel i need to pray but do not know how or for what, i simply pray in tongues=D

i was talking to my aunt who was a preacher because I was really curious about this and she was saying that speaking in tongues during worship was okay. she said that for example, in the middle of prayer or something, then it needs to be interpreted. but people sometimes prophesy through tongues, and translate it themselves or other people.
Whenever tongues are spoken it is the Holy Spirit speaking for us and through us. If we do not know what to pray let the Holy Spirit speak on our behalf in his language for he knows all things.

The second I turned on this video and he began to speak in tongues, i began to cry and speak in tongues uncontrollably and fell flat on my face. The power of God is really moving through this man if i can simply open the video and hear his voice and the presence of God can fall so heavily on me. My father is a pastor and I've been in church all my life and this is the first time anything like this has happened to me so strongly.

This doesn't help anyone because there's no interpretation. There must be some type of interpreter when "tongues" are spoken when the body comes together. Also, if tongues are a "heavenly language" or spiritual language, let's not forget that the Devil was once an angel himself, cast out to Hell. Wouldn't he know a little something about what's being said? Isn't he a spirit too??? True tongues are for spreading the Gospel and it's a supernatural ability to speak a language you didn't know....

Read 1 Corinthians 14 and then tell me this man has the gift of speaking in tongues! God grants unto his servants the gift of tongues in order for them to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people in foreign lands who speak foreign tongues. The only reason Benny Hinn would need to use the gift of speaking in tongues is if someone in the audience would speak the language and be in need of his gift. The gift of tongues is ALWAYS coupled with the interpretation thereof.

Not true.When a person is speaking in tongues, it is a private conversation between that person and God. It is used because the devil can't understand it. Speaking in tongues is a "heavenly language" and is used for prayer and for "recharging" the spirit. Also used for uplifting and edification.
Speaking in tongues is also used as a sign for unbelievers. Saddens me how people frequently pick apart the bible, and choose certain verses to suit themselves!

It's like Hispanics speaking in Spanish and BECAUSE a non-Hispanic is in the room you have a translator because Paul said they'll think you're all mad. It's the most natural language one can speak the language of angels directly to God 1 Cor 14:2, 1 Cor 13:1

It was a practical means to spread the good news on an international scale in a short time. that message has been spread there is no need to speak in tongues. Only the apostles of jesus christ could speak in it. when they died the language died as well. (Acts 2:4, 14, 17; 10:44-46; 19:6 see also 8: 14-18. and Hebrews 2:2-4)

i know this is a silly question but i just need confirmation - when people speak tongues do they all speak varying or different languages? i ask because i've been blessed with the ability to speak in tongues at any time but i've noticed it sounds different to how other people pray in tongues. i've considered that because it's a heavenly language that maybe everybody speaks the same one language, or maybe that it changes so the enemy can never suss onto what we're saying..help?lol

Some are of different races of people.
However, the Believer does not learn them in Natural ways.
The Languages are Taught by the Spirit of God who lives in the Believers. The Same Spirit gives the Interpretation of the Languages.
A friend speaks about 8 Languages fluently given to her by the Spirit of God.

Lets put it like this: EVERY Christian should desire the gift of speaking in tongues. It is your right and your native (heavenly) language to speak directly to God and edify yourself and others of the faith.
Not all Christians have this gift, but their prayer should be to have it at some point in their walk with Christ.

Any Born again believer in Christ CAN speak in tongues upon recieving the Holy Spirit Baptism by asking God in faith. However Paul was saying in I Corinthians I believe that not all are used in the public ministry of tongues for the edification of the Church as in the five fold ministry gifts (Do all speak with tongues, Do all Prophecy, Do all work miracles, etc.)

Because there are two catagory of tongues people are confused by the term "speaking in tongues" as one gift, the scriptures pertaining to "tongues" thus appears confusing and is misapplied.
1.Gift of diverse kinds of tongues - human languages
2.The unknown tongue - a heavenly language.

because after you receive the Holy Ghost, you can work through the gifts of the Spirit heard in 1 Corinthians 12, the gift of tongues is divers tongues, because the gift of divers tongues they have an interpretation of tongues, people miss understand that, Jude says praying through the Holy Ghost how by speaking in tongues the only evidence show that the Spirit has taken over the whole body because in James it says that the tongue can no man tame, that is why God chose tongues Isaiah 28:11

In the context of that chapter Paul was instructing AGAINST that very thing. He's insisting that a translator be present, otherwise speaking in tongues is useless. I.e., basically saying, "Have an interpreter present. Otherwise, nobody knows what you're saying and you're just talking to God, which doesn't really help anyone but just makes you puffed up and arrogant."

speaking in tongues isnt just to help people but is also used as prayer to the lord. For example when i feel i need to pray but do not know how or for what, i simply pray in tongues=D

its a gift of the Holy Spirit.. He gives you basically your own language in which only God Himself can understand... He understands all that you are saying.. its really wonderful.. i hope that you can 1 day experience this tremendous feeling of being filled with the Holy Spirit

No man is suppose to whenever God fills you with the Holy Ghost the sign is speaking in tongues because the book of James says that the tongue was the most unruly part of the body so when someone is fully yielded themselves to God, those tongues comes forth, and that is why they are called tongues, unknown tongues, speaking in tongues, because the language is not know to mean.. however it is heavenly or an earthly language (1 Corinthians 13:1) you just don't know what language you are speaking..

it is a gift that you can use whenever you please....you dont have to wait for a "feeling" or for some SUPERNATURAL occurance.....THE BIBLE SAYS THAT RIVERS OF LIVING WATER SHALL FLOW OUT OF YOUR BELLY....those rivers mentioned are the HOLY SPIRIT.....and tongues is included with that river.....

you cannot speak in tongues unless there is an interpreter read 1 corinthians 14 for an understanding on tongues and christ never spoke in tongues with disciples read acts 2 for an understanding on tongues

i was talking to my aunt who was a preacher because I was really curious about this and she was saying that speaking in tongues during worship was okay. she said that for example, in the middle of prayer or something, then it needs to be interpreted. but people sometimes prophesy through tongues, and translate it themselves or other people.

Whenever tongues are spoken it is the Holy Spirit speaking for us and through us. If we do not know what to pray let the Holy Spirit speak on our behalf in his language for he knows all things.
