i'm really glad to see that they have taken the tenors back to slings.. i hate playing tenor with a carrier on it restricts your arm movement to a certain degree.
It's quite nice, but to my ears and taste there seemed a discrepancy between the build-up of the reprise and Dr. Macphail's Reel. They had brilliant music in the reprise, growing into something which, I think, transcended the current world of piping music, but then it's like the composer's attention span expired and he/she/it/they ended up copping out with the reel. Excellent, quality technical and musical execution throughout, but I felt let down at the end.
That's one of the marvelous things about the piping world; so much of it is subjective. What one person calls "in your face," another calls anticlimactic. Still, the proof is in the pudding: 3rd over all.
What band do you play for, I'll have a look for your band we're playing Juvenile take a look for a band called Robert Malcolm Memorial. And they do get new drums every year it seems including this year with something different try to pick it out.
Isnt it no wonder these guys dominate the world of Pipe band contests. Absolutely fantastic, perfection. im gonna have to get a hold of these tunes now. Ma wee fingers are itching to play em . Fantastic, awesome.

thats probably one of my fave medleys ever!

The jig Emancipation is a great one; it's ok on its own but in a band setting with harmonies it's a great effect

It's cool, but I think the chord suspension/resolve at 5:22-23 is out of this world! This is my favorite set of all time.

Tremendous. Robbed of victory that year in my humble opinion.

gotta disagree with u on that one, builds up and shoves that reel right in your face, which i think is really really good.
