well try they new netgear router it works both broadbands (2.5 GHz,5GHz)and it goes far so its perfect...also it blocks interfearments signals such as baby moniters,microwave ovens, and some other things too(it's also secured so i love it)i went 210 feet

lol i try to buy a router for my uncle he live 3 distance away almost near he has a small router it get 40% sometimes and it will get 50% if i pull out and chop in back again this is a trick to boost 10% up thats why i am so angry at my wireless i am gonna buy a repeater just to boost my signal lol still good tho

speaking of microwave i turned my microwave on low power and pute my wireless atenna in it and holly crap i have it pick up like 1000 networks but then i unpluged the microwave after a few sec so i did not mess shit up.

im hispanic born american heritage from el salvador..... the speedboosters useless.. in about a few years mbps is gonna get replaced with gbps some copmpanies actually offer gigabit ethernet...u can buy the equipment but youll need a new comp (too much data itll overwhelm the comp's nic)

yea i had the linksys wifi g pci card w/ speedbooster. but it malfunctioned after a month. (gave me wrong ip over over again.) so i got 2 belking wifi adapters for less one is b the other g.

Just get a wireless card(G) put it in its easy do it urself dont pay for install it takes 2 minutes.wireless sign al dependes on what type it is g,n,b, or a n is best but g is the standard

but its not the best there is, typically id say linksys is great, but i got a 2wire 2700G-B ISR(integrated service router, acts as a router wifi ap and switch)

Yes of course, but my family has an all-mac house (with the exception of my dad's work Dell laptop). I think that the Apple wireless routers are the best for mac networks. I had link-sys with a PC and the performance was nearly the same as the Apple Base-station. I agree with what your saying.

I got frustrated with my Linksys router frequently taking breaks from doing its job and requiring a "power cycle" to get going again, so I decided to try out the dd-wrt firmware on my Linksys. There is a chance of "bricking" your router when changing firmware and this is what happened to me. None of the de-bricking tactics seemed to work for me, so I went out and bought a new router.

I bought a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. The HP stands for High Power, which it lives up to, delivering nearly twice the signal strength of the aforementioned Linksys. I blasted the original firmware with dd-wrt without even bothering to give it a chance. I've been using this router now for over 6 months and haven't had to power cycle it once. It just works, no hassle. The article's I read before doing this said it turns your $60 router into a $600 router. I totally agree.

so you are italian! :) and yeah that's a very good top 5. in my house i have a wireless B network and the signal is terrible. i often drop my connection. even though windows says 100% signal strength, i don't think that's accurate. also one tip that may be useful, use a static ip instead of dynamic.

and 1)setting the wifi router against a boundary wall with a directional antenna using repeaters where needed is better then central location

Get the DD-WRT router firmware...I know it is available for linksys and a few others. It is really good... best part is that you can increase the signal strength = Better signal for $0 and zero energy put in to move all the stuff.
