Great Vid, pretty informative. I have one question, I'm looking for my first car, like the fuel economy of the TDI but also like the Horsepower of the GTI, which doesn't have terrible fuel economy either. Is there a noticeable difference in "zipiness"?
@lamboman1000: I have the TDI 2012 and my friend has the GTI 2010. Both cars are manuals. I chose the TDI over the GTI mainly for fuel economy. The GTI is noticably quicker and more zippy. The TDI can feel slow at times, but in the bends the TDI is just as much fun unless you push it to reckless levels. If you just want thrills the GTI is the clear winner, but overall I'm glad I choose the TDI.
I own a 2011 VW Golf TDi 4 Door Three Pedal - it's a great little car. I've had some 42 vehicles and finally I'm set on a vehicle I see myself in for quite some time...a feat no doubt. I average 37+ mpg every time so far. I live in Vermont. I've gotten 45.2 - never a disappointment. Winter will be the ultimate test on how I feel about the car overall.
@sargeant002 Well, now that it's winter, how do you like it? Pretty mild winter though, isn't it? I'm seriously considering giving up the Cayman S for something profoundly more economical and practical.
From my experience of owning one,the mileage is impressive...23 mpg rates are only attained while in acceleration. You'll likely end up with something more like a 35 mpg if you a gentle on the throttle...might attain 40-42 if the road is right and you're really not pushing the car to much.
(1) 23.8 MPG is not that good for a diesel. (2) Please throw away that cheap CMOS-based into-your-face camera and replace it with good old CCD-based one. I don't care for HD, just want it jello-free. (3) I watched 5 of your videos in a row, and the music is ANNOYING. (4) Why do you call a 5-door car a 4-door car? ;-)
Whats the name of the song playing in the background while he is commenting on the great TDI? Please help...anyone.

@birdflyinrealhigh Sorry, but I don't recognize car makers' right to set the definition for door.

@vonOhzu A door is an opening in the car(that can be closed) that lets you inside. Thats at least how I see it.
