you win by trying to disable the enemy teams ship my sinking it, using cannons to take out its mast, or destroy its powder barrel in the front hull of the ship. :P

Lol, when I was playing this I changed my name to Captain Bullet tooth, and I commanded the crew I was with. I was a mean son of a gun, whenever someone didn't follow my order, I shot them. Took me a while to get the guys in line but I won in the end, lol
