I remember seeing this on Discovery a long time ago- he was actually trying to prove that sharks wouldn't bother people if we didn't act afraid or like food, since they weren't used to us they would just leave us alone.... he payed a high price for being wrong about that..

He said himself that it was stupid to stand in the water for more than 20 mintes, because of the smell of all the fish around him would eventually pass on to his legs..
