Which would be a better buy. The black beauty or the hammered bronze, I have a 402 supraphonic it sounds awesome, but its time for a upgrade. Thanks if anyone can help.
@ddrum1978 It all depends on the sound you want. If you want a slightly warmer and dryer sound go for the hammered bronze. If you want an all around do everything drum that's a litter brighter and with a touch more projection go for the Black Beauty.
is it possible to explain in plain english how hammering affects a metal snare drum shell? or is hammering a marketing ploy???
seriously there is so much product out there now that there is a huge market for an instructional video which just talks about different materials used in drum/cymbal making and how different woods/metals work.....
otherwise we drummers are spending a fortune finding out what we want the hard way
@zealberg In all actuality hammering the shell basically dries the sound out a bit. It also has a slight effect on the amount of overtones that are present. Hope this is helpful! If you have any other questions feel free to email me at tony @ drumcenternh . com
God that sounds fantastic. Even at lower tuning it has a crispness to it. I think the hammered shell helps control the overtones on this drum. Sounds amazing!
@AngryNinja9000 This one goes for about $549 USD. In the description, there is a link to one we've currently got on eBay. Let us know if you have any questions!
do these come in diecast hoops? and would the sound difference be major?

@baronofhell08 You can get die cast hoops for it. It would make the drum a little more focused and have a stronger crack to it.

Why is there a noisegate or sth. on the Audio? The sound is getting cut quite often.... Or is my soundcard cracking up?
