You're right. I love this version, although I'm still searching for a version in my head that's played in a more tender way. But what do you think about Claudio Arrau as the player?
I can't help myself listening to this 2nd movement, so expressive, and it's been so many times i've listened to this, but i've never been fed up with this music!
I have not studied music history so I'm not an expert, but this piece sounds completely different than all other music from Beethoven, it seems much more modern. Why is that? Did he compose it later in life?
it is his fifth piano concerto and he didnt write another one. He was already becoming deaf at this stage, as it was the last he performed in public ever. Perhaps it had some kind of significance to him, which most likely it did. one can wonder if he put more effort into this one as it may have been his last in his eyes, poor bastard.
Thanks for posting this...so many great pianists kill this piece by 'hurrying' but this one is played at almost perfect tempo albeit devoid of great expression and interpretation..I would like to know who the soloist is....
This must be one of the most beautiful pieces of music written, it is so haunting and moving.

Es ist mehr als schön, sondern es hat eine tiefe Schönheit, die man nicht mit Wörter beschreiben kann.
