  • Good video, short & to the point.

  • how about putting some brake grease behind the pads to stop it from squeaking/

  • Thank you very much for this video! After hunting down a T60 bit, the first set of pads took me around 40 mins to change. The second set, less than 10 mins. This was my first time changing brakes. Thanks again for the video!

  • how to remove a bolt that is really really snug and rusted and it's head has bad grooves due to trying to take it out? Thank You!

  • to change both side (2) should take less than 1 hour. From pulling the jack, taking the tools out, putting them back in, and clean up.

  • dude ur a pro...lollll thanks alot took me 10 min because of you ;P

  • ONly thing missing here is the cleaning of the brake parts, lubing up the necessary parts and inspecting the rotors for wear and tear. Its also important to let the viewers know that when the job is done, to pump the brakes to push the piston back against the pads before driving. Also optional is to bleed the brake system. Also be careful jacking up the car and use jack stands.

  • He made it look simple, and I suspect this is the way most discount brake shops do this task. However he didn't visibly inspect the sliders, calipers, and rotors, and didn't use anti seize or anti squeak. He probably would have noticed if the sliders or rotors or wheel cylinders were bad, but when teaching beginners it's a little scary to skip over those steps. Also, I find it a little scary to skip the jack stand part. Sure, he never put himself under the car, but what about his students?

  • @spelunkerd if you are so scared of everything, don't watch scary videos.

  • This is a good no nonsense video. That's about as simple as can be shown for typical disc brake applications on most vehicles.

  • @Lex5576 u mean brake pads :) not the rotor

  • hello i need some help please...

i recently change my spark plugs and they spark normal any way the problem im having is i was driving on the freeway and lights turned on like if i was going to start it, i could not accelerate lost power and costed off freeway ..i thought i was out of gas any way i put gas in the tank and try to start it ,,it cranked but wont turn over any ideas...

    thank you richard

  • I just changed all four of my disk brake pads and i have noticed that my brake pedals are lower than they were before......all i did was change the pads..i did not trouble the hydraulics....what is causing this?

  • @ryanlester1980 try bleeding the brake fluids.

  • best way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man, you make it look so simple. Very good video. Helps me to have some confidence in changing my own pads on 1999 Dodge Ram. Hopefully it is the same as what you show and aren't any surprises.

  • you missed very critical part of brake work, that is you have to adjust fluid in brake reservoir before and after pad replacement

  • holy santa claus shit, and Firestone wants 140 dollars to do that!?

  • @steelcurtain656 exacttly lol i spent 250 to get the rear and front brakes replaced

  • Wrong, this is what you call a pad slap. not good at all.

  • I need to see what he is doing move the words out the way

  • forgot to say that you want to check rotor thinnish also befor putting new brake pads on cause the rotor might be under the minumein discard thinnish right?

  • That is what Im paying them for! Wtf!?!?!

  • @ChivalrysDownfall

believe me your better of doing it your self buddy i pay for some 1 to it n they didnt do it right

  • Some calipers SCREW back in.

  • yeah, not done right no brake lube on the hardware , there going to be squeky and fail he did not lube slide pins either, hmmmm

  • @hamtalker2007 Some people have mentioned that silicone grease is required but now one has said exactly where this grease goes and where you do not want the grease to be touching.

  • Wonderful video man. Just what I need to try and replace my own car brake pads for the first time. Now the device you've used to open up the caliper, is there a specific name for that?

  • Is it no need to resurface the rotor in every new pads change?

  • Yea right, the caliper NEVER swing up that easy. And what about changing the clips? And no anti-seize?

  • @4inches4u I would not know yet, but there have been comments in his other videos that might confirm what you are saying. Some people are saying that lifting it up like that can warp the rotor. I am starting to see how that could happen if it did not swing up so easy. You might be right man.

  • Best Video Ive seen on changing brake yet... fast and straight to the point

  • thanx mayn

  • exact same process for rear brakes?

  • You did this in 2 minutes. It took me 3 hours. Show us more!!

  • Thanks Tom...That was a great instructional video. Straight and to the point. The other goober heads spend 20 minutes of my time showing me how to jack up the car before getting to the brakes. Your vid is great.

  • ''keep 1 hand to have that lifted up from getting your hand when you're workin."

    1:12 third hand right? ;p

  • in every car its different, isnt it?

  • thank you,

  • I hadn't tried changing pads in over 25 years. This video made it look so easy that I decided to try and save myself some bucks. The only difficult part (not for me) is lifting the tire. Anyone can do this if they have the strength to lift the tire. Great video! Thanks. GRADE A

  • Cool, looks easy enough. My blazer started making a high pitch sqealing noise and is getting worse. The sound is coming from the back wheel so i figure its time to change the shoes. Thanks for the demo!

  • Do all calipers lift up like that by unscrewing one bolt?

  • great vid.. one of the best break pad vids i've seen. That tool makes life easier for sure!

  • A c-clamp also works very good.

  • i have mazda mpv also, n this will be my first time change break pads n i wondering i need to resurface the disk brake??? before i put new brake pads in??? do i really need it?

  • @fancyboyz You dont need to resurface the rotors unless you feel with you hands across the disc any deep grooves or warps then you want to get it resurfaced. Otherwise its a standard replace brake pad job.

  • thanks alot! this was one of the best done videos i have seen from expert village.

  • thanks you bro, your the best, and whats that tool called that you push your break cylinder in with? anyone?

  • Great video! Made it look simple and not confusing by taking the whole brake off and dangling on the brake cable!

  • thanks a lot!, very simple :-)

  • is that the same for the back wheels too? I have a 96 ford windstar.

  • it depends, if they are disk like the fronts are, then yes. if they look different then they're drums. drum brakes are different, they have a lot of springs inside. i've never messed with them though

  • you probably have drum brakes...man...drum brakes are soooo complicated! so many parts...

  • thanks. looks very simple.
