  • Olivia Newton John had another John Denver hit in Japan when she recorded/released "Take Me Home, Country Roads"!!!

  • Nice clip. Too bad it's lip-synced though. :)

  • This is so beautiful, and their voices blend so well together, Olivia and John D, together sounding delightful, shame they didn't do anymore 'duets'...

Fabulous posting 'burtmurdock', and fantastic singing too... :0)x

  • Wonderful...love this song!

  • Thank you so much...

  • what a beautiful John Denver had

  • Man, She was soooooooooo hot

  • Great audio but the video is poor quality. Does anyone have a better copy?

I agree, this is from John Denver's TV special.

John Denver and Olivia had TV specials every time they were putting out a new album. I wish more artists did the same...

  • John Denver really had a great and uplifting voice. even olivia, but ofcourse, also karen! they, three really had/ have a great voice! really. magnificent video!

  • why did John have to die. Luckily he didn't die to me

  • Thanks for posting this..great song from a truly great singer !!

  • I want to fly away.

  • FABULOUS!!!!

  • I saw John live in the 1980's and he was wonderful! We all miss him so very much. I will not forget that concert, never.. John A.

  • KRISTY R. where are you---bob d.

  • nice ... i miss him.

  • John Denver...so special to so many- good memories.

  • a girl named marie digby kinda reminds me of johns spiret, its in her voice.BUT there will never be another J.D thats for sure

  • Wonderfull song!

  • love em both

  • This is a truly timeless song and an excellent video. I much more like these type of videos that today's hype videos. Thanks for posting.

  • It brings back memories about how America use to be.

  • He is so sorely missed when you listen to the quality of his voice. Olivia is an angel, as always.

  • truly and purely it is.

  • Is there a popular artist who can sing with his range and voice quality?

  • i don't think so.

  • His voice is so touching, thank you.

  • One of the most beautiful songs that takes me right back in front of my TV in the 70s. I can still feel the warmth in our house on a cold winter night as I watched this performed. A perfect pairing for a timeless piece of music. Olivia at her peak and in all her innocence. A fabulous video!

  • His voice is so soothing...I miss him and the songs he didn't get to sing...but thank God for the ones we do have...nice video..thanks.

  • seems like yesterday; o it was.

    thanks!

    john

  • I've always loved John Denver and Olivia Newton-John, and this is a great song. What a loss for us all when we lost John!

  • That is correct!! He was a folk singer. The sound is not really country. He was reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot whom also was a Folk artist. These guys tell stories in their songs. Country is not the same..

  • folk it is...=D

  • john denver 'country'? I'd classify him as pop/folk

  • your title is incorrect...this performance took place on one of John Denver's Christmas specials, not Andy Williams (they are performing in a 'special built dome' built out in the middle of the woods, specifically for this special).

  • that's right if u refer to last comment...no more of this please. =P

  • The way their voices blend just makes the song sound even sweeter - our friend John, you are missed!

  • thanks for the great video.. i remember when the show was on at christmas, and watching it at school at holidays

  • I wonder if they had sex after the show

  • Ever since I heard John's angelic voice as a little girl, I've been madly in love with him. And I always will be. His voice is truly the mirror into his soul, and his soul is just as beautiful and getle as his voice. John, I miss you man.

  • What are you talking about?, I had glasses & those nerdy looks just like John & no woman ever fell madly in love with me, maybe its my acid reflux vocal chords that really stole the show.

  • r u a weirdo...?

  • Wow - there's just nobody holding a candle to these two icons today. These days are gone. makes me so sad.

  • I'm glad there are people still around like you and me that feel the same way - -today's music does not compare

  • Well it does take a person of a certain age. I just turned 40. I doubt that any 20 year old would be appreciative of this. They all seem to listen to the same kind of music, which all sounds the same, and the writers are bitter and angry, and the words are crass. Different era. I'm glad I grew up when I did.

  • Same here...

  • Put me down for a "me too", finch6789. I'm 46 and feel identically. I have two nephews in their late teens and when I listen to the sad, cynical music they listen to I wonder how they will react when they are in their 40s and hear it again. I doubt they'll get a sentimental tear in their eye.

A sweet fond memory their future lives will never know...

  • Ha ! Well said.

  • Come on now, wasn't it also your generation that tripped on Nirvana, OzzY, & Warrant? just listen to Pearl Jam's "Not for you" sometime & tell me about the peaceful warm lyrics.

  • Nirvana was NOT out with John Denver's heyday and I don't even know who Warrant is. Your timeline's are a little off, but I understand what you're saying. However, the people listening to JD often did not listen to the other genre of which you speak, so different crowd I suppose. Plus, I didn't "trip" on anything when I was ten years old.

  • perfect pitch ! no doubt

  • thats a country sound...

  • I've always loved this song. So beautiful.

ONJ is uncredited on the original self titled album 'Fly Away'. Not that anyone needs to be told who the voice belongs to. A real treat. Great work.

  • This lovely song reminds me of Linda Ronstadt and Rory Emerald. Thank you posting an awesome video.

  • Welcome there. =)

  • two of the greatest voices of the last 40 years.a great arrangement that brings me back to the mid 70's and memories of the girl I should've married

  • Well its a waste..."Chances strike once @ every mans door" =P Take care dicotis 55 and have a nice day.

  • Great video, but not from an Andy Williams show- this was from an ABC JD special...the dome was in Aspen. Steve Martin was also a part of this show. Great memories!

  • Thanks for ure concern. Truely delighted.

  • eloisecm: thank you so much on ure comments eloisecm! cheers.

  • Thanks for this , a family favourite.

  • You are most welcome. Happy and Cheerful family always.

  • People were so hard on O N-J back then. I look at and listen to this now, consider the crap that's forced on us these days, and I think -- Wow, a pretty girl who can hold pitch... we shoulda been much nicer to her.

  • My soul has just stepped back a few decades. Ahhhh wonderful! Actual MUSIC. With a MELODY. With LYRICS that are articulated. Two performers with TALENT. What a rarity today...

  • Thank you for your wonderful comments on them legends.

  • He was and is a folk singer/songwriter. Not a country singer. Thanks all the same!

  • Country folk he is...total folk is peter paul n mary...!

  • Correct, that is why he associated with them and they played his songs. Made hits with some. I am from the country, all we had on the radio where I grew up. I know the difference. Peace

  • John Denver & Olivia Newton-John singing together, Pure heaven!!! Would have loved to see them do a duet album together.

  • me too would love to see one but JD pass on...!

  • Their voices went so well together!! They both did a great job on "Fly Away", it should have been a follow-up to it. Did John or Olivia sing anything else on the Andy Williams show?? Thanks for posting this great rare video clip!!

  • Well i guessed just that...=D

  • Hauntingly beautiful. I played this record more than

once on the old "Victrola". Those were the days.

  • what's that?

  • small, portable, record player that came in a

box with a hinged lid and played 45 and 33 vinyl

records. Not quite like an i-pod, but ah, the music!

  • How delightful that would be..Go on and breath in the fresh air. John Denver never dies.

  • You're most welcomed.

  • hi agane citizen youneed to help me cotact no 1 steve

the sos extreemly important we may loose the person lost in alberta that has the note if this gets to you please protect me

  • Thank you. Very nice memories.

  • I miss John Denver so much...I remember seeing this...what a sad loss for all of us.

I saw John in concert 5 times...he was so talented. ltlaratol

  • What wonderful memories i hve when listening to this song.

  • So sad that John has been taken away from us. This proves his music is timeless, and a beautiful backing from Olivia - truly fabulous Many many thanks for the beautiful memories... sigh

  • Beautiful, thanks for posting.

  • Love the clip. One of my favorite duets.

I remember this being from a John Denver Christmas Special from the mid-70's. It was so successful, I believe they ran it on two consecutive Christmases. I remember the glass dome in the middle of the Rockies.

Thanks for posting, no matter where it's from.

  • welcome.
