I have a 2 yr old swissy, he still acts like this despite weighing 99lbs.

@heyysimone They are the absolute best dog to own. Mine just turned 8 years old a month ago.. For the vast majority of the day he lays around and just watches everything. And when he wants to do anything he's like a 2 year old, jumping around like a nutcase.. He never tears anything up or knocks anything over.. Everyone is scared to death of him when they meet him because he's a great guard dog.. But once they get to know him they absolutely love him.. Greatest companion you could ever get..

im sorry, this is probably so late as to be ineffective!! Ummm the 1 male was very calm and relaxed, the other was kinda hyper but it was more just getting really excited when people were around, he always pooped out fast. i dont know if bernese have the same disposition but i LOVE LOVE my swissy, and if you have the space and time to make sure they get exercise you shouldnt have any problems with hyperactivity :) i sincerely think they are the best dogs in the world

i have had 3 swissies, 2 males and a female, and although the female had a bad temperament i think that was just bad luck but the two males i had (great uncle and nephew) were absolutely the best dogs ive EVER had, and my family has had a varied mix of breeds. their gentleness and character truly cant be matched! absolutely get one id say!

@kd0909 I've read about how they are incredibly hyper. Is that true? I had a bernese mountain dog when I was younger and he was very hyper and wild, but that was our fault because we weren't able to train him like we should have. I just wanted to know your imput because my fiance and I are thinking about getting one.

@waffle117 - as puppies they're as crazy as any other puppy but just big. I think berners are more hyper than swissies - my friends agree. But that's just my opinion.
