First of all, it's almost impossible to OD on any opiate without combining it with another depressant. 98% of all oxy OD's are from the combined effects of oxy plus another drug or alcohol. I've been on Oxy for two years and I've never had any issues from it other than occasional constipation. The media is just trying to scare people. Don't be so damn gullible.

@FiveZylinderRacing - the way the drug is abused can kill you - it has killed many- grinding it up, shooting it up all using it in ways that it was not prescribed. Putting a 12hour time release medication in your body, brain and heart all in 30 sec's - you can die if it is abused.

Heath Ledger died from the combined effects of hydro oxy and several other drugs. Depressants usually cause death when mixed with other depressants, because they tend to compliment each other. You'd have to be stupid to mix two CNS depressants. That's natural selection at play, just saying.

i understand that drugs such as vicodon,darvocet,oxycontin,are very much abused in America,ther is without a doubt,yet Some not all,but Some of the people who put people down that use these kind of drugs,have no problem when it comes 2 alcohol,in fact i had a friend that was hooked on vicodon for about 5 maybe 6 mounths,and this woman was really preaching 2 her about the dangers of it,then it was not 2 days at the most this same woman,was drinking alcohol all day,got behind the wheel of her

The only reason alcohol is legal, was because it was the most popular drug in the 30's, and we realized prohibition didn't stop people from drinking, it just creates dangerous gangs and cartels to sell alcohol, and we were spending billions keeping people in prison for victimless crimes.

The same could be said about many drugs today, mainly weed.

Anyway, alcohol is just as deleterious and addictive as drugs like opiates and cocaine, its just socially acceptable.

@PhuckAllYouPeople i agree,and alcohol is socially acceptable,and like i said pain killers are indeed very much a problem,and they with out a doubt should crack down on it,but i promise you if they passed a law,and took all the booze away,where the people that drink it,could never again buy it,we would have a world war 3,because some of the folks who do it love it,but always ready 2 point a finger 2 those who smoke weed,or do pain killers,its so easy 2 see som1 else faults but not thier own.

@skyangel1100 you are so right.when i was about six years old,my best friend and her whole family which would be two little sisters,3 big brothers,her mom,her dad,and herself as well were hit head on by a drunk driver and killed.8 people gone due to a drunk driver.yet alcohol is o.k. but weed and pain killers are not o.k.people will read this and say,but...........but........a­lcohol is not as bad as weed,or pain killers,and i say to them GO FUCK YOURSELF.

There is no proper use of prescription medication. Deaths are caused when they are taken as directed. They are poisonous toxins and should never be taken. YOU DON'T NEED AN OVERDOSE TO DIE FROM MEDISIN. This video is not addressing the real issue of the uselessness and danger of prescription drugs. It's a multi billion dollar industry and the number 1 cause of death in the US. And I am talking about so called "successful" drug therapy NOT OVERDOSES!

I now from personal experience that when you use drugs for pain control such as codeine,oxy ect, that alter perception, after a short while of use even in moderate dosages, you lose control of how much you take and a lethal accidental overdose can easily occur, so unless you have a really caring doctor who can determine your diminished mental state or someone who is aware of this your chances of staying in control of your daily dosage is zero. A serious problem so please don't joke about it.

@noskinoffmynose yep... cant get pain killers now for my back every 2 weeks I have to wait now. Idk just more hassles, its the abusers that make us legit pain management patients look bad. Hydromorphone is great kills the pain and I can do my job, without them I would be sleeping all day with muscle spasms.

@bostonred915 I personally have been affected by the death of a family member who overdosed on pain medication. She had an addiction and that was a huge part of the issue? Is the doctors and drug companies not fueling this addiciton? We repoted her misuse of the drug to her personal physician who continued to prescribe he pain meds, which she abused and led to her death. Should the Doctor not be at fault for fueling the addiction?

Nope, the reality is, a drug has never killed a single person.

Only people can kill themselves with a drug.

You cant blame black market drug suppliers, you can't blame doctors, you cant blame liquor stores, in any way because someone fatally OD'd or became addicted to a drug.

You CHOOSE to use a drug, you CHOOSE to not use drugs in moderation, and the only person to blame for OD's and addictions is the user.

My 22 yr old son Sean Good died from abuse of Ritalin he was prescribed for his ADD. Sean had been on Ritalin a highly addictive amphetamine for 10 yrs and never did his doctors warn us of this risk. Once someone has become addicted there is a 5-20% chance of recovery. Sean died after taking 30 of his 20 mg pills while he was trying to get help at a Halfway house in Houston. God Bless you Sean, now you are perfect. We love you and miss you so.
