  • funny I always heard it pronounced "Lu-ca-ma" not "Lu-cam-a"

  • I went to college in Wilson in the mid 80s. We knew it as Acid Park as well. Frequently when there were strong winds at night, a group of us would pile into a car and drive out to see it lit up and moving. They were so well oiled back then, that you couldn't hear a squeak or screech at all. They are all covered with bits of discarded state road signs which light up at night when your headlights hit them.

That sounds really cool. I was only at the whirligig one time at night and that was a great way to experience it. I can't think of a better college road trip then to head out to Acid Park. It's super creepy and sometimes hard to find. The best option I had in college was hanging out in cemetaries at 5am.

  • FYI, You'll receive more views if you give the park's popular name "Acid Park" in the tags. I visited there about 10 years ago at night! All of the reflectors made the site absolutely amazing! Nice video!

  • @SnakeladyGreta Thanks for writing. So it's known as Acid Park? I've heard some of the folklore about the place but had not heard of that knickname. I only saw it once at night, but you're right. It's amazing.
