It's always interesting when original works are arranged to accommodate ensembles. Some types of ensembles that exist to this day (e.g. Cajun, Steel Band) got its beginnings from transcribed pieces. I find that the resulting timbre in this case creates a whimsical sound, which can be offensive to some.
I'm with squeezyeasy in that it sounds like improved phrasing could make this piece sound even better - but that's the music major in me talking. Let's hear from the "purists" ...
For strings imitation you have to use the bellow. Really use it! Copy the way they are using the bow. (The bellow is the bow of the accordion)
For blowers, try to get the most right sound with the registres, cassotto or not. But the most important thing is the phrasing, the use of the bellow and finger articulation.
that....was....stunning!!! I remember our orchestra trying to learn that and we could never play the notes at that speed no matter how hard we tried. Most certainly the most difficult piece of music I have ever tried to learn. That was stunning playing though, very well done! :)
A wonderful piece of music and an extraordinary group of musicians. Bravo! Thos of us playing accordion's can truly appreciate the talent displayed here.
I think the problem is not that its only accordions here. Its written for symphony orchestra, but the accordion is the only instrument in the world who best can imitate instruments in the symphony orchestra. Blowers and strings. And of cause this recording could been much better. The phrasing need sometimes more legato. And they play too virtous. And I think it would sound better without the syntheziser, use accordion! To get this in the right way, dont think accordion.
it is arranged for accordion orchestra.. perhaps you didn't see it.. but there are only accordions...it can't sound like the original..and where are your videos now!?!?
toll!!!! super gespielt. Passt auch gut zu Akkordeonorchester. Großes Kompliment.

Where can I get the sheet music for accordion orchestra?
squeezyeasy 1 year ago
@squeezyeasy It's arranged by Willi Münch in "Musikverlag Holzschuh". Don't know where to get it though...

it sounds pretty good at first, but soon the sound of 20 some accordions starts to wear on you...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This is a disgrace to Tchaikovsky's work... He didn't want it to sound like a bunch of losers playing like that

Can you be more specific what you don't like about it? (because neither he wanted ignorants to post pointless comments)

der Ton ist sehr leise
mattis09 3 years ago
Ja, das stimmt, das liegt daran, dass ich den Dynamikumfang nicht reduziert habe (laute Passagen wären sonst im Verhältnis zu leise)...
