@therage198911 never mind it was korn make me bad good video Im in a general psychology class, that stuff is crazy I heard you can get tranked and thorasized .
i am 25 i have been hospitalized a number of times, the experience is very frustrating, MOST mental hospital staff are not right for the job, they need to be alot more sensative and kind knowing that the people theyre dealing with are in an alternate reality that at times can be very scary to us. i have seen staff members get verbaly and physically abusive, patients being put in seclusion and often strapped down for unwarranted reason, they love to threaten you into doing what they want....
@rickybarningham ......and more often then not they break rules and laws about patient rights, no one will listen to a mental patient ESPEACIALLY while he is currently hospitalized, and the lawyers that are supposed to represent us usually are aquaintences of the hospital (staff, doctors etc) so they care about the interest of the hospital more then ours, unless we can afford our own attorneys, which most cant.
@rickybarningham fact is (in the case of schizophrenia) in other parts of the world people we could call schizo are looked at as having a sensativity to the supernatural/spiritual world. we are looked up to in other countries and cultures instead of looked down on, told were crazy, and shoved pills with horrible side effects down our throat. i haooen to believe that what i go through is a supernatural thing NOT a disorder
@rickybarningham fact is "schizophrenics" in other countries can be off medication and function alot better then the ones over here who are told theyre crazy and they dont know whats real, halucinations (auditory and visual) are not all in our heads, they are things happening in the supernatural realm, we act out in odd sumtimes dangerous measures becuz we are told what were experiencing isnt real, its much healthier to look at it from another point of view rather then "your insane, take drugs"
@rickybarningham they used to labotomize people in mental hospitals, they STILL to this day can give electroshock thearpy against our will (they need a court order) i myself have been left in my own urine, strapped down, shot up with drugs, and lied about in my patient file. this would be a horrible thing, but what makes it more cruel (in the case of schizo) is its not even a disorder or affliction, it is an ability or a sensativity to the spirit world, which makes this treatment more unwarranted
Lol there's nothing wrong with you man..and what is depression? Everything is in theory anyway. Nobody knows shit about what true happiness is except for you. I've talked to a physc before and all they want is your 300.00 to talk to and bullshit for 30 mins. They make you think theirs something wrong with you but there's really something wrong with them lol.
It reminds me of the results of the Standford prison experiment during the 1970s conducted by Zimbardo...It sounds unfortunately similar to how some people are treated in mental institutions.
so who here is surprised? I'm not this is old news psychology is a pseudo science and mental institutions are nothing different than a hundred years ago.
This is a very accurate representation of mental wards today. I've been in two for a total of six times. I've been in wards in NY and NC, and in NC I see a vastly different level of care. You have your assholes on every ward, but in NY the staff was mostly wonderful and kind, I befriended my nurse and even the receptionist to the point where I relied heavily on them. In NC, the nurses and docs are very distant and cold. There's exceptions everywhere, but this is what I see.
These places are horrible. Anyone's best bet with ANY problem is to avoid getting government services involved at all costs. Parents telling their kids to go to a mental institution need to learn what family is supposed to be about.
Any facility that is funded by the government is not a good place to be. No matter what. That includes public schools. Although it is getting to the point that a person can not go anywhere that is not either funded or regulated by the government.
at least he had sport, gym, books or anything like that...
some places there's just nothing.......................................................................
THANKS alot for posting this video... there is not alot of people who share there story.. Hope now he is doing better, and that time in that mental hospital, wasnt to hurtful for him to have that bad moment burn in his mind forever. Hope he's good now, give him my support and my gradulations of being able to go through it!
You are no longer human, and you are worthless to society. Thus, you are there for pathetic reinforcement of stupidity. I like your hair because I'm a Nazi who "doesn't like people of ugly colors." No, man, I really like your hair because I've always wanted blonde hair, thus I "dyed" & colors are some weird language 2 me. I'm scared of people & would probably thrive in prison bc I'm worthless on the outside, so I suffer on.
i know some of the rules of the facility seem stupid, like the crayons, but the there is a good reason, i work at a mental hospital and we use to allow the patients pens, untill a patient stabbed a co worker in the face with a pen. i'm so sorry this happened to him, and i wish him the best, but alot of the rules are there for a reason. and as for staff, there are some good staff out there.
@23432195849 Yeah there are... but sadly it is really RARE to see good staff... in about (without exagering) 30 persons i saw.. doctors, nurses, security guards... only one was nice to me, a nurse, she is the ONLY one who deserved my respect on that floor where i was... (Psychiatric Hospital) 1 on 30.. can you imagine??? I cant...
@Dean2315 I can. It was my experience too. The only people in the joint with a half a brain was a nurse, and one doctor. Then the rest just abandon to the garbage heap as "unfixable." I was basically interrogated on drugs and alcohol, and accused me of being drunk. I had nothing in my system. Yet the bitch who admitted me insisted I reeked of alcohol. I spent 6 days in a detox ward with nothing to detox from, except the meds they gave me.
Poor, poor ,poor, stupid people. If you wouldnt give into the general population and be a "claiment" to "depression/bipolar/ whatever they wanna call it to this day, you wouldnt be in the rut you are.
Can you please do something about the horrendous and disturbing noises?
I sure would love to learn about your situation as to the opposite of your experience..my own ex boyfriend kept on abusing a 40 years old man who he is supposed to look after..
@scumgod13 yeah but maybe the 40 year old wasnt strong Mentally to fight back... some people who abuse others have the perfect way of doing it so as the abuse one wont fight back...
but I can't hear well due to the loud background noises! anddd the writing is almost too fuzzy to make out! resubmitting it would be a good idea, only without alla the other junk :]
I am a petite female. I was ATTACKED by three male hospital staff at Alexandria Hospital in VA. for not speaking when spoken to. I was just standing there. Bad treatment is still going on. But what does the public care if it isn't happening to them!!!
@ssdiforlife I am also female, and was in my room when the nurses called the security guards because I wasn't following directions. I was carried down the hall by four male security guards, held down and sedated. I was then left in confinement until I'd oblige with their demand to sit up on the edge of the cot, but I was passed out and unable to move from the shot.
@ssdiforlife Thats right, most have no idea how it really is, till they are into the bad treatment.. i'm sorry for what happen to you! it should've NEVER happen. I hope you're not too hurt bout that, cuz i know how those bad treatment can get stock in your mind every damn day after...
I planning to make that change, i dont rally know how for now but i will try everything i can no matter how i do it to make this change...
@alliecat889 I don't mean to sound like a douche, but so what? If she only replied to whoever spoke to her, that mess would have never occurred. Sure, attacking someone for that is unnecessary, but it could've easily been avoided. When someone talks to you, you answer them!
@TheCataIyst yeah but what if your incapable of speech? A lot of mentally disabled people lack the ability to be able to properly communicate or even understand what others are saying.
really great quality video. Im taking abnormal and developmental psychology atm and this is really is a really informative interview of someone who has experienced what its like to be in a mental institution. great job!

The correct term you meant was immoral and that didn't sound bad to me at all. Ok, so the nurses weren't friendly so what. Do you have any idea how bad these hospitals used to be? I am all for fair treatment but many of the people in these hospitals were sent there instead of prison so I would say that is a pretty fair trade for whatever crimes they might have committed.
Anyway, nice video lilshorty. It is cool to see someone's perspective from the inside.
@Passionatebeyez to help you out the one i was in had no gym,no books, they only give you meds before bed so they dont have to deal with you.they didnt let me have shoes, they made me take the lace off my hoodie and before i went up and had my gowns i punched a wall got put in a fullnelson hip tossed to the floor and they choked me till i was choking on my own flem and blood they then gave me a needle and restrained me.my eye was cut and bruised from being hip tossed and lip was busted
