Love these videos, good for math refresh! I don't know why people think factoring much less algebra in general is useless. This is stuff every engineer, physicist, and technician needs for their career. Algebra is the loophole math for most complex math.
I completely agree. Algebra is absolutely essential when you need to do more complex calculations that include unknown values or "constants". One can stick to drawing little math diagrams and models to try to solve a problem... Until one day the problem includes numbers that run into the thousands.
I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math. He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let others know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.

This man is trying to be helpful and is doing all of us dumbfucks a favor. Perhaps you should be concerned more with the content of these lessons than personal appearances. Sometimes, we're all at a loss in our sense of fashion some days. It may just be that his is more prolonged than average, but I'm sure He'll pull through (if we all pitched in with suggestions, of course....LOWER YOUR SIZE A LEVEL!!)
Great shirt-size jokes though. "Stealthvsion" is a good one.
because the first one isn't the difference of two squares, you see there isn't a minus sign between the two terms so therefore it is not the difference of two squares and therefore you can't follow the process of that specific factoring
@SecondChanceRomance Because it's not a difference of square therefore it cannot be factored again. Basically the sign has to be negative to be able to factor it.
@tennisgator123 In front of every X there is a 1 they simply dont place it there since it is a law, therefor placing it would violate the law although it is acceptable by some teachers.
I love this guy. I have seriously been using his videos to study for a math test tomorrow and it's been so much more helpful than scrutinizing my book like I've done at multiple times during this chapter. I'm not suggesting that math books are useless, but these videos have made things so clear, simple, and calm. Thank you!
I don't know but I don't know why you would want to. the purpose of factoring like what he is showing is to "find zero's" for graphing in calculus. mean, if you have a factor x^2(x-1)=0, the values x=0 and x=1 make the whole product zero, and that tells you where the graph touches the x-axis.
Hello frundeatt66, I am here to help you with a question which you posted approximately 2 months ago.
The equation you posed was 2x^2 + x^(-1) - 3 = 0. Apparently, you had trouble simplifying it to a 2nd equation.
Well, I worked on the problem and there is no way the 1st can be simplified to the 2nd. However, you can solve for x in the 1st by following these simple steps.
1. Simplify the middle term using the law of indices. The equation simplifies to:
Haha, you can actually simplify that equation. I've gotten so many comments saying you can't do it. You can though. You multiply through by x, then solve the third degree poly using synthetic division (or difference of cubes formula, I don't remember).
I can't stop laughing at the size of his shirt!!!! XD

Factoring is a pain in the ass for me, so this is a real question, not me being sarcastic.

why does the x^2 +1 get factored out only once why does the other one right after the x^2 stay the same?

why, when a GCF of x^2 is pulled out of x^2, it becomes 1? shouldn't it become 0? e.g.:
2=x
2^2=4
4-4=0 (i pulled out a x^2, which in this case is 4)

Here's a question, I'm completely stumped...
2*x^2 + x^(-1) -3 = 0
simplifies to
x^2+x-(.5)=0
The second equation being a quadratic and easily solvable.. I have noooo idea how to simplify the first to get the second... anyone have a clue?

can any1 tell me that why it was x raise to the power 2 and in bracket it was x raise to the power 4 like this x^(x^4 - 1) why?

cuz he pulled out a x^2 so its (x^4-1). if u multiply x^2 to (x^4-1) then it becomes x^6-x^2
